Although no one knows for sure what Jesus's life was like as a child, i found this a beautiful, interesting and inspiring story and movie. I appreciated and enjoyed it.

Looking at the journey of Jesus we know as our Messiah through the eyes of a little human boy. Many of us have been waiting for this for years! I'm thrilled!!!!!

Firstly, just like other Holywood "Christian" movies like Noah and Moses, God (the Father in this case) is portrayed as extremely vague. Hollywood probably thinks it's a... sin... to stick with the book. Look at the beginning, around 0:14, "the room filled with light. And it spoke to me". That's rather vague. Just like in Noah where Noah had a "dream". In the Bible angels came to Joseph. I understand that they are being "creative", but portraying God as someone who sends out vague messages and leaving it to our interpretation is wrong. As a Protestant I find that the movie, with the strong focus on Mary "why did God chose me?" 0:34, has a too strong Catholic element to it. Overall, Jesus is portrayed as in-divine. In the trailer he needs Mary and Joseph's advice and knowledge. Look how afraid and insecure Jesus is while Mary protects him 1:14. I know at the end they suggested His divinity "He is not just a child". This is why I don't like this.

I had a work partner from Ciro Egypt. She told me the stories of Jesus as a child in Egypt. So I was drawn to see this film. My Mother was so intrigued with this film, I too had food for thought about the child Messiah. Fascinating food for thought about the Son of God. I recomemend seeing this film.

I am so glad to see more Christian movies out in these last days to encourage the believers and as a tool to draw others to Christ and Salvation through His blood. Joseph Fienness was so gifted in Luther I have watched and been inspired by it at least 20 times. This one looks interesting. I hope it is as good as Luther. Josephs acting is best in this type of movie in my opinion. Thank you God for motivation and inspiration and using the media for good, as it is so often used as a tool of the devil.

Looks like you misunderstand God's forgiveness. God knows the heart of every person, so He knows if you are truly seeking repentance for a sin. If someone believes they can do whatever they want, like commit a crime and continually crawl back to God for forgiveness for the same sin, they're in deep denial. That person will still have to face the consequences of his/her actions, be it in this world or the next. Also, no one is perfect or sinless when they are born. For those who choose to follow and believe in Christ is a decision available to everyone and anyone. So yes, a rapist or murder can become a Christian, and from that moment on all theirs sins are forgiven. This is God's mercy and hope for all (like starting on a clean slate), but they must change from within and follow the word of God. Humans are not perfect, and we might still stumble along the way, but as long as we keep His word in our hearts, we'll find our way to God. Don't let anyone ever tell you that heaven is an impossibility. I hope this clarifies a few things.

I am more interested and compelled to view "Risen" in theatres, than "The Young Messiah" this year. I thought 2014 was an amazing year for Biblically based movies! "Exodus: Gods and Kings" is one of my favorite films, along with other Biblical dramas: "Ben Hur" (1959) and "The Passion of the Christ" (2004).

i am a christian. But i wonder how did they know about Jesus childhood? There is no document or scrolling that explains about all of Jesus childhood. Even the Bible only explains a little, from the moment when He was born until He's at 12, and it's not detail like in the movie.

So when a man is entitled with the name “offspring” it refers the man having kids with the woman. So this “seed” that the woman is going to give birth too is going to be a virginal seed/birth. The only one in the Bible that had a virginal birth was the Virgin Mary! It makes sense that the “woman” is Mary, the “seed” is Jesus, and the serpent is the devil. So how’s does this make Mary sinless? When Adam and Eve sined they lost their sinless friendship with God (that’s why they got kicked out of the Garden). This promise that God made in Genesis 3:15 happens after she/Eve sinned. So their has to be a new sinless Adam and a new sinless Eve, for the friendship of God to be restored (what I mean is, since Adam and Eve lost their friendship with God and joined the devil, the new Adam and Eve have to be sinless.) God made a new Adam, Jesus. “So, too, it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living being,” the last Adam a life-giving spirit.” 1 Corinthians 15:45 NABRE “For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life,” 1 Corinthians 15:22 NABRE Did God made a new Eve? Well yes, he made the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary is “Full is Grace” The Virgin Mary had Virginal Birth In the gospels according to John, Jesus refers Mary to the same word that refers to the woman in Genesis (before the woman sinned). Firstly, just like other Holywood "Christian" movies like Noah and Moses, God (the Father in this case) is portrayed as extremely vague.
Hollywood probably thinks it's a... sin... to stick with the book.
Look at the beginning, around 0:14, "the room filled with light. And it spoke to me". That's rather vague. Just like in Noah where Noah had a "dream". In the Bible angels came to Joseph.
I understand that they are being "creative", but portraying God as someone who sends out vague messages and leaving it to our interpretation is wrong.
As a Protestant I find that the movie, with the strong focus on Mary "why did God chose me?" 0:34, has a too strong Catholic element to it.
Overall, Jesus is portrayed as in-divine. In the trailer he needs Mary and Joseph's advice and knowledge. Look how afraid and insecure Jesus is while Mary protects him 1:14. I know at the end they suggested His divinity "He is not just a child".

I had a work partner from Ciro Egypt. She told me the stories of Jesus as a child in Egypt. So I was drawn to see this film. My Mother was so intrigued with this film, I too had food for thought about the child Messiah. Fascinating food for thought about the Son of God. I recomemend seeing this film.

Joseph Fienness was so gifted in Luther I have watched and been inspired by it at least 20 times. This one looks interesting. I hope it is as good as Luther. Looks like you misunderstand God's forgiveness. God knows the heart of every person, so He knows if you are truly seeking repentance for a sin. If someone believes they can do whatever they want, like commit a crime and continually crawl back to God for forgiveness for the same sin, they're in deep denial. That person will still have to face the consequences of his/her actions, be it in this world or the next. Also, no one is perfect or sinless when they are born. For those who choose to follow and believe in Christ is a decision available to everyone and anyone. So yes, a rapist or murder can become a Christian, and from that moment on all theirs sins are forgiven. This is God's mercy and hope for all (like starting on a clean slate), but they must change from within and follow the word of God. Humans are not perfect, and we might still stumble along the way, but as long as we keep His word in our hearts, we'll find our way to God. Don't let anyone ever tell you that heaven is an impossibility. I hope this clarifies a few things.

I am more interested and compelled to view "Risen" in theatres, than "The Young Messiah" this year. I thought 2014 was an amazing year for Biblically based movies! "Exodus: Gods and Kings" is one of my favorite films, along with other Biblical dramas: "Ben Hur" (1959) and "The Passion of the Christ" (2004).

God promise here is about a war that God will make between the woman and the snake, her seed and his seed. First of all it is uncommon for someone back in the day to say “The woman’s offspring” because the word “offspring” is entitled to a man (like the name” Abraham’s offspring”). So when a man is entitled with the name “offspring” it refers the man having kids with the woman. So this “seed” that the woman is going to give birth too is going to be a virginal seed/birth. The only one in the Bible that had a virginal birth was the Virgin Mary! It makes sense that the “woman” is Mary, the “seed” is Jesus, and the serpent is the devil.
So how’s does this make Mary sinless?
When Adam and Eve sined they lost their sinless friendship with God (that’s why they got kicked out of the Garden). This promise that God made in Genesis 3:15 happens after she/Eve sinned. So their has to be a new sinless Adam and a new sinless Eve, for the friendship of God to be restored (what I mean is, since Adam and Eve lost their friendship with God and joined the devil, the new Adam and Eve have to be sinless.)
God made a new Adam, Jesus.

On the other hand, the Greek word that Jesus used for rock is petra, meaning "a massive rock" or bedrock.

This coincides with the rest of Scripture that Jesus is the rock, that He will build His church, that He is the Christ. Other parts of Scripture would need to be discarded if instead Peter is the rock of His church.
Scriptures refers to saints as people are are saved in various churches, not on people who have passed on from here.
