Sixteen minutes in and without a doubt--best interview EVER! The scene in BoB when Buck drops his helmet is the most heart-rendering scene of the entire series.
Absolutely love Neal. If refusing to be intimate with someone who isn’t your spouse means youre typecast as bad guys then so be it. The roles call for more creativity and seem more fun anyway.
I usually hate watching podcast interviews. I can never make it through 10 minutes without falling asleep. But this was awesome. I first saw Neal in the Arrow verse followed by project blue book and I am all ways blown away by him, and Mike I've been watching you since dirty jobs first aired. This is hands down my favorite interview 🙌!
I absolutely love this actor! I know he has played a lot of bad guys but he will always be Buck Compton. But his humility. His love for his family. His faith. It makes him so real. Thanks for all of the great memories, Mr. McDonough!
Great actor. Amazing human. Met him at the Great Wolf Lodge in Washington state. Got a picture with him, myself and my 3 year old son. All in our swimming trunks.
Getting what you want is a privilege, getting what you need is priceless. Your focus often determines your reality. Great interview. Thanks I enjoyed my time here.
Mike, you have ruined my life. I can no longer hate Neal McDonough like I used to. One of the best villains of all time now is totally likeable. Amazing episode!
The FIRST role I ever saw Neal McDonough was in Band of Brothers, playing Lt Lynn "Buck" Compton. Lt Buck delivered a powerful awareness of PTSD, so Neal McDonough has already been a hero for me, and can be difficult to see him a bad guy role...yet I see the spot on actor deliver each character full, completely and transcendent. Nice body of work, Mr. McDonough! Thank you, Mike Rowe, for great content show after show!
I've never once watched a podcast all the way through, not even those that I have been on, until now. What a great, honest, open conversation between 2 guys I highly respect. Thank you
I will ALWAYS remember his portrayal of Buck Compton in Band of Brothers. I was fortunate enough to see that show live when it was debuting and really shaped my view of leadership. I carried that with me to Officer Candidate School in 2008 and proceeded to serve 14 amazing years as a Military Intelligence Officer. Thank you, Neil, for bringing that role to life for me and paving the road on my journey through life.
I believe this is the first interview I’ve ever seen that felt like artwork. The same feeling I get when I read a great book. Two great men with extraordinary stories. Thanks for that one.
Neal is one of my absolute favorite actors. I just really appreciate his work and the effort he brings to his roles. Loved him in Band of Brothers and Suits.
It is hard to express how fantastic this podcast episode is. I am going through a divorce from a woman who had the same place in my life as Neal talks about his wife. I have never been this lost and devistated and can't see much good ahead at the moment. Hearing Neal talk though! Wow. I need to channel some of the scraps from that conversation into my life and motivate myself to keep writing and doing. Thanks so much Neal and Mike. I pray God keeps blessing you. I was reading the comments looking for this one. That role and so specifically that season is where I became a huge fan. I had to learn more about this man, started digging into him as a actor and then found all the other characters he played. This is such a great actor and humble guy.
Wow. Just wow. That is what comes to my mind after watching and listening to this interview. I knew and respected the "guy" that Mike was interviewing, only for his ability to perfectly portray the characters or roles that he was cast into on TV or in Movies but I actually didn’t know his name. After watching and listening to this storied Christian testimony I have even more respect for you Neal McDonough and also for Mike Rowe for having him on and giving him this platform from which to preach not only his testimony but the work that it took to get to where he is today. Thank you both!
That was an OK chat and all but the amazing barbershop singers at the very end pleading with me to subscribe really got me. That and the fact that I find myself hanging on every word from you, Mike, and your guests. Keep up the good work!
So I've always enjoyed Mr. McDonough's work but my respect for him as a man just went through the roof! This episode is so inspirational. Well done gentlemen! 👍
I love all of Neals movies and I love knowing this side of him. I am 54 and still try to feel like a kid when I can. My stepfather was the same with me and I started working in his grocery store at 10 years old. I hope more people will see the wonderful person you are Neal. Thank you to Mike!
Mike, you hit it out of the park with this one. What an amazing interview. Neal McDonough is like a breath of fresh air. What a talent, but more than that, what a man of faith. He has my utmost respect.
I love this episode. It is awesome to see a man in Neal's position to wear his faith on his sleyfor all to see. I hope he will be an inspiration for others to not he afraid to display thier faith so easily.
I could listen to these guys talk forever. It is such a moving episode, It makes me just want to be a better human being. Listening to Neal tell his story, makes me want to be a better leader to my team. God bless you Mike and Neal.
Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down in 2001 and then 9/11 I’m 16. We were Soldiers in 2002 as I turn 17 and able to join the Army. I join in 02 to medical retirement from being injured 17 years later. I know he was depicting the leadership of Buck Compton that we can all read about but it was powerful seeing it and knowing the pre production boot camp and the way he preformed on screen I’ll never forget it as I crossed the burm in Iraq (at 18) to a helicopter incident that ended my career. The point is I appreciate those who take it serious to portray American heroes and I must have watched Band Of Brothers twice a year on the same dvd set for 23 years now. Even as a soldier, a dad, a man, and an American. 🇺🇸
I am laughing and crying during this interview. I used to work for an Orioles’ farm team full-time in my 20s. I knew Andy Etchebarren…one of the most terrifying looking men. I danced with Don Buford at a club in Sarasota and laughed at his antics in the press box during games. This has been food for my soul. Thank you so much for bringing back such great memories.
I LOVED this ....two intelligent guys having an indepth Intelligent conversation with Humor and Wit, Integrity and Faith thrown in the mix. So refreshing!❤
I always say "I hate Celebrities/ actors", but I cannot say this about Mr. McDonough honestly. A real human being that isn't full of himself or being fake in life as they are on stage he truly is a gift. Thank You Mike for bringing him to the world in this light. With Love and Respect, You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Mike and Neal, I found this incredibly captivating and thought-provoking, to the extent that it's hard to believe I watched the entire episode without any interruptions. A heartfelt thank you for providing such an extraordinary experience. Although I've expressed this sentiment before (you might not have seen my previous comments), Mike, your articulate and down-to-earth perspectives, coupled with your no-nonsense logical approach, make listening to you a genuine pleasure. This episode revealed a personal side of Neal that was truly surprising, and I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about him. To individuals like Neal, Mike, Jim Caviezel, Mel Gibson, Denzel, Morgan, Alan Ritchson, Keanu, and others I may have unintentionally omitted, you all are exactly what we need. Blessings to each one of you, and a heartfelt thank you.
First time Mike Rowe popped into my feed. Immediately subscribed. I just learned Neal is a Christian a couple months ago. I think times are changing and as dark as things are right now I feel the pendulum is starting to move toward a revival.
Neal McDonough is one of my all time favorite actors!!! He's just a class act. The way he loves and respects his wife when it comes to some roles he will not take, the way he talks about his family, his friends...Definitely a class act all the way around!❤ ~ APRIL LIPKE
Neal! Hats of to you! I have so much respect for you not just because you aren't willing kiss other women or participate in risqué scenes with women who are not your wife, but also because of your strong relationship with Him. The shift is one of my all time favorites! Thank you for your many years of wonderful talent and movies! And for holding true to your convictions. The world needs so many more like you.

I just heard your interview with Adam Corolla. And then I watch this long as "duh" interview, and I say to myself, this man is priceless, Mike Rowe and any one he talks talks to is precious!
It's good to see that the pendulum is starting to swing back out of the insanity and crap which has been driving Hollywood and society for so long. It's heartening to see good people like Neil finding their voice and speaking authentically and almost most importantly beginning to make content that has moral rectitude without being cheesy and lame.

I know. I say Im gonna watch for a few minutes.....before I know it Ive watched the whole thing.
Damn you rowe.
McDonough is one of my favorite villains. I love how he can play evil and charming at the same time. I'm so glad he is also a good man.
I'm a huge fan of Neal McDonough, thank you Mike for having this legend on your podcast! 👏
I absolutely love this actor! I know he has played a lot of bad guys but he will always be Buck Compton. But his humility. His love for his family. His faith. It makes him so real. Thanks for all of the great memories, Mr. McDonough!
Yes!!! Buck Compton …B of B was such an amazing gift of a series! Great actor and even better man!!
I can't wait to see this I can't believe I've never band of Brothers
@@SeanEnginetechnologyHave you watched it yet?
I never really knew Neal, but now i fully respect him.
Great actor. Amazing human. Met him at the Great Wolf Lodge in Washington state. Got a picture with him, myself and my 3 year old son. All in our swimming trunks.
This guy was EPIC in Justified...was blown away by him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A fine actor with good morals who never bought in to the Hollywood hypocrisy and madness. May his star continue to rise to the top! 🏆
What a man of great integrity and talent. I wish to see him in more films. Thank you, Mr. McDonough, may you continue to have the time of your life.
We need more actors like him and more podcast hosts like Mike.
Me thinks you are not alone with that sentiment.
I heard most actors who are typically cast as villains are very nice in real life
@@jamesbaggett7223 Same here
Hey, I see him as Buck.
Guys like that make the world look transparent. Thanks, Mike.
These are two rock stars! Great podcast.
Neal is one of those actors that just stands out in what ever role he plays. He is amazing. God has truly blessed him.
Indeed ... he has & does "stand out"... whatever his character portrayal.
I believe this is the first interview I’ve ever seen that felt like artwork. The same feeling I get when I read a great book. Two great men with extraordinary stories. Thanks for that one.
Neal is one of my favorite actors. He is as genuine as they come. A truly gifted actor and an even greater human being. Great episode Mike!
Neal is one of my absolute favorite actors. I just really appreciate his work and the effort he brings to his roles. Loved him in Band of Brothers and Suits.
Excellent interview. Powerful testimony. Thank you, thank Neil, Thank God. 🎶💐💖
Great interview. Love what Angel studios is doing.
What a wonderful interview - and what a privilege that you would ask us to pray for your friend Derrick.
I am pausing the interview now, to pray.
My current hand of cards seems to be all nothing. Maybe, with Gods help, I can draw some new, better cards. :D
06 God bless you brother man I hope I hope you come to the side a better man I know the feeling kind of in a similar spot but with a whole lot of personal issues and stuff I'm trying to make better myself you know but God bless brother and it does get better I think
😢BGod bless you brother man I hope I hope you come to the side a better man I know the feeling kind of in a similar spot but with a whole lot of personal issues and stuff I'm trying to make better myself you know but God bless brother and it does get better I think
Hang on! I have been there and it's a dark, hurting place. You feel so alone, but you're never closer to God than when you are broken. He saves all your pieces and puts them back together, stronger and better. I pray for you my friend,
Season 3 of Justified. Neal makes the most Wonderful Villain!
I’ve always believed he’s such a great villain, because you can see a little humanity in his evil. He’s the best, no matter why.
I was reading the comments looking for this one. That role and so specifically that season is where I became a huge fan. I had to learn more about this man, started digging into him as a actor and then found all the other characters he played. This is such a great actor and humble guy.
Right? So creepy!! so good and didn’t have to do anything evil it was just implied !
Neal McDonough is an American treasure!!! A great actor who has the courage of his convictions!!
Wow.
Sweet🥰
Absolutely amen
I LOVED Neal in “Boomtown”. My favourite role of his and an incredible show that ended too soon.
And I admire his conviction and humility.
Neal is one of my favorite all-time actors. This is my favorite Mike Rowe show!
Neal is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. He's played some of the most iconic bad guys in cinema AND television. He's fantastic.
Who 'underrates' Neal M.?

Mike, you hit it out of the park with this one. What an amazing interview. Neal McDonough is like a breath of fresh air. What a talent, but more than that, what a man of faith. He has my utmost respect.
After all I’ve seen this man do on screen I’m so glad to know he is a proud child of God. ❤

With Love and Respect, You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
Mel Gibson is the same kind of man who went up against the Hollywood pervs and pedophiles and won.
ya know. ... this one deserves a Standing O, Mike Rowe and Neil McDonough. For real guys, great conversation between two of my favorite people.
Over an hour!!! What?! I was only going to watch a few minutes…but sooooo relatable and honest. I breathed fresh air for over an hour.
First time Mike Rowe popped into my feed. Immediately subscribed. I just learned Neal is a Christian a couple months ago. I think times are changing and as dark as things are right now I feel the pendulum is starting to move toward a revival.
see Neil in The Shift - excellent performance
This is a great interview. Two brilliant personalities. 👏
Neal McDonough is one of my all time favorite actors!!! He's just a class act. The way he loves and respects his wife when it comes to some roles he will not take, the way he talks about his family, his friends...Definitely a class act all the way around!❤

I love Neal McDonough and the work he has done. So happy you had him on Mike!
This was so worth watching…. “Focusing on being the best me for Him!!!” ❤
All I can say from one sister to 2 brothers… I love you both. I’ll be happy to meet you both in heaven.
Greetings from Maine
God bless you Mike and Neal
Two guys that I the upmost respect for. I don’t do idols or hero’s but Neal is at the top of my most respected people that I would like to meet.
Love this guy. Integrity in action.
I'm ten minutes in and I'm already tearing up like a six-year old. Inspiring! Three MEN getting together and having a conversation about life. I'm not sports guy, but I instinctively get what they're saying and feeling. Neal is a scary-good actor and Mike is a super-scary-good host.
I'm not into sports much either but it was a good interview.
I'm from Cape Cod myself and what Neal said about sports or stupid stuff on the Cape is absolutely true, I've known a lot of both, lol.
Great actor. His character in Justified still gives me chills every time I watch it. True talent.
Hey Neal ... you and Sean Bean are probably the two actors who have died most on screen ... love your work ... keep moving forward
When I first saw Neil on Justified I was hooked! The man is divinely gifted. I watch everything he’s in now. What really impressed me is his devotion to his wife, to God and his family. We need more men setting an example like him. Mike is amazing as well. Love his work ethic. Mike thanks for interviewing Neil.
Neal can do good and bad guys with equal skill, which is one of my favorite qualities in an actor.
I never spend an hour plus on any interviews but I have always loved Mike and am a big fan of Neal................this interview kept my attention for 1:22:24
Neal- As a guy raised on the South Shore, and now in Rural NC- YOU DID IT YOUR WAY!! You Inspire this 49y/o to stick to His Guns- I'm proud and inspired by you... NEVER CHANGE!!
Hands down one of the best interviews I’ve ever watched!
