    I was about to do this tomorrow, thank God I watched this video.... Definitely waiting for summer to do this, so I can drop the engine.... P.s. oil pan gasket isn't the only thing I have to do, That's why it's just better for me to wait and drop the engine in the summer... Thanks for the very informative video Andy!

    Hi there, did you apply sealant to the rubber part of the gasket? I always get mixed answers from the Fiero community about that.

    Thanks, what did I get myself into? Lol. By the way, you should wear eye protection. I'm still digging rust out from my eyes just inspecting it.

    Good video, in order to remove pan, you need to loosen all the motor mounts trans , dog bone and motor mount? When jacking the motor up is it thru the transmission pan?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 роки тому

      I place the jack lightly on the trans pan with a block resting on the corners of the pan. If you put full weight on the trans pan you can puncture it

    Great videos Man. I’m still fight to remove the pan. I’ve got the lower mount out but still don’t have clearance. Pan still hitting the top portion of the mount. How did you get around that? Do I have remove alternator to move that portion off?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 роки тому +1

      felconfly no, just loosen it to slide it out of the way. It’s a pain to remove; if you don’t have a lift like I don’t, you’ll need a full day to remove and reinstall

    One question, if I drop the oil pan can I get to the rod bolts so I can push the rods and piston up and out? Im checking the heads (warpage) and replacing head gasket and want to hone cylinders, ring replacement and piston inspection. I have lost compression in some cylinders, thanks, Bill

    Great Video, I'm paying a shop to tackle it. If they are into it that far is there anything else i should have them just replace while they are there?

      Oil pump is not a bad idea if it’s the original. Also check the motor and transmission mounts, make sure the bushings aren’t drying out.

    Hi. Great video. Wow, there is a lot of work to remove an oil pan. How much time did it take including the oil pump replacement?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  4 роки тому

      Rick Harris it was an all day job. When the oil pan is removed the oil pump is easy.

    Heyo, I know this is an old video, but I was hoping you could help me out. Would this be just about the same procedure for the 2.5L?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Рік тому

      I’m not sure. I’ve only worked on the 2.8L GT version. I believe the smaller one had a different oil pan.

    Great video! I am working on a pontiac fiero myself and this video helped me out a bunch! My next task would be to remove the exhaust. Do you have any tips for removing the exhaust? Ty!

      J Nino the manifold against the Firewall is tricky. You need to basically feel your way around. The other side is easy since everything is exposed.

    Why didn’t you show installation of the oil pan? A lot of people would like to know if you had any problem installing it. I have a v 6 and I am having trouble getting the oil pan back on.
