    This wedding was like every wedding I ever went to in the 70’s, including my own in Nov 1977. Looking at the presents in the kitchen, they were simply bought by relatives and friends based on common sense. I can’t remember if wedding lists were around then, but I hadn’t been to a wedding that had one and nor did ours. We were just grateful for anything. All our furniture was secondhand! This really takes me back…the fashions, the cars and lots of smokers too…. all normal for the day. I wonder where they are now?

      Hi, thanks for your nice comments. Sadly they did separate a few years later and the groom has now sadly passed away as well as the brides father. The bride is doing great and enjoying life.

      @@swordfishradio Thank you for the update. Glad to her the bride is living life and is happy. My marriage ended in divorce ten years later. There was a lot of pressure from my my mother to marry (I was expecting). I cried on my wedding day for all the wrong reasons. Today (2024) is so different.
      Thank you for posting this evocative clip, it really was a trip back in time. 👍👍

    In 1963 my sister among her wedding presents were 6 salt and pepper sets. How times have changed.

    Beautiful wedding and wedding party. I got married in 1978. Stood for a wedding in 1976. I wore a hat for that. My bridesmaids had white long dresses with tiny velvet hearts all over them. They had a flower in their hair. Instead of bouquets they had umbrellas and the flowers were all up the umbrella handle.

    Terrific video quality. How about sharing information regarding source, resolution, software, etc?

      Hi Larry, these films were professionally restored and converted by both a company in Cheshire and the British Film Institute. All of the films are from my personal 8mm archive built up over the years from my Grandfather and Father. This particular reel is from a family wedding held in North Staffordshire.

    Wondering what the year is - looks mid 70s. 1975 perhaps?

    • @swordfishradio
      @swordfishradio  3 роки тому +2

      I think it may have been late 70s but not 100 percent sure. The lady getting married is not that much older than myself and thats kinda what Im basing this on.

      Aye, good old handheld 8MM Cine and yes sound would of been great back then but way too expensive for my Father to commit to. He moved away from Cine around 1982 and we went full colour VHS video. Im lucky I managed to keep hold of these films as my late Father's new Wife wanted to throw them all away!

      @@swordfishradio Hi again, at the risk of pushing my luck... would I be able to use some of your video called Martin's first christmas? The video I'm making will be a montage of milestones in peoples lives starting at being born, getting married etc. And the bit I'm missing is the baby. Please just let me know when you can, no rush. Thanks again.
