Yay for nurses! I'm in nursing school right now and graduate next fall. Being a CNA is so great and definitely prepares nurses for their career. I've been a CNA for 6 years on a cardiovascular unit. I got my CNA certification my senior year of high school. Great tips! Good luck!! 😊😊
Great video! I graduate in December with my BSN and these tips were perfect for people who are just starting! Good luck with school, like you said take it day by day. In the end all the long nights and stressful weeks are worth it and the right people will be by your side the day you graduate.
Chewing gum when you study, then chew the same type & flavor of gum when you test is helpful... Also there is something about cinnamon flavored gum/candies that help you remember. My psych teacher told us this and I tried it. May be some sort of placebo effect, but it worked for me lol! Thanks for the tips! Good luck with everything...
I couldn't agree more, studying everyday for me has been life changing. Even if I am without adequate sleep at this time in my life juggling all these classes, it will be worth it in the end. Rather than cramming and not getting one bit of real 'sticking there' type information.
you should definitely do a separate nursing vlog... I've just started my first year in Scotland and there's a few nursing channels that kept me going through the whole process, would be great to see more of them :) there are basically none in the UK :(
Needed this motivation!! I have to push my application back because I have to take a couple prerequisites for some of the required classes, it sucks but I'm hoping to pull through!
I just started nursing school this semester as well! All your tips sound extremely familiar. And anyone who is a pre-nursing I suggest you REALLY pay attention in pre-reqs, become a CNA, and be prepared to say goodbye to your social life!
Tip #9 probably far is probably the most underrated but extremely pure wisdom and important! Having a great circle around you can make all of the difference in your success of what your trying to achieve. The wrong circle can lead you to fall short of the glory. #KEEP RANTING!!!!💯💯💯
I'm doing Pre-Nursing college classes and my high school is paying for them. Thank goodness! I freaked out the first time I got a B+ in intro. to organic chemistry and I can't stand it!
Hi, my name is Sharnae and i'm a nursing student as well, i started 29/09/16. it's really stressful and time consuming i hardly having time to talk to anyone but it's just my responsibility to socialize with other nursing students and seek out friends that won't waste time and are serious about nursing.Once i got friends i knew were serious we planned group all-nighters before exams and practice the skills as we go along the semester. it's really rigorous and requires your all but in the end it's worth it and i'm loving every second of it. :)
I'm going into high school this year and I already know what schools I want and I'm already doing college classes. I've wanted to be a nurse for so long. Love u Holley!!!
omg Im so glad i found you,I'm in Chemistry now and I have Mirco left then I'm ready for nursing school and omg I'm soon nervous...Im loving these tips
FYI, there are some programs like mine where you are admitted to nursing school the same time you're admitted to a university. I'm graduating with my BSN this May and I'm 21, I started in the program freshman year. We also don't have any clinicals until senior year and we have no nursing classes senior year (just 1 elective per semester), so senior year is full-time clinicals at the hospital. There are a lot of different formats of schooling throughout the country.
lifeisbeautiful033 hit your councilor up ASAP! The whole reason I got into every college I applied to even with my lack luster ACT and SAT scores was due to my high GPA.
omg i love you! this video was on my recommended list and you are so funny and have great advice! definitely subscribed! im doing my pre-recs for a BSN right now so this was just what i needed:)
I also got a C- in my A&P2 class! I can relate! Luckily it doesn't matter and I start my LPN program in January!! YAY! I love watching your videos! The plan is to complete my one year LPN program and then do the bridge program for RN. Then BSN and onward!
I love your videos! Tip #9 is super helpful because I have a friend who keeps telling me if I cared about her I would make the time to hang out with her. It's really stresses me out and makes me feel guilty because I want to please my friend but in the back of my mind I know I need so much time to study for my classes to get those good grades. It's just overwhelming but I love your videos! You're so humble too! I love your vibe.
Thanks for the great info. I’m recovering from a serious life changing disease (neurological Lyme Disease) and through this disease I discovered my life’s calling is nursing. Your videos gave lots of info and to be honest scared me..... hoping I can do it. I’m binge watching your videos. Any advice for a brand new student. I haven’t started yet but I’m reading all I can and using it to rehab my brain back to where I was before I got sick. Nurses got me through some horrifying experiences and I want to be that support for others. You rock Holley!!!!
Hey, Im so confused on what school to choose, A Community college (Which the one I am looking at offers an RN program) and its 1 1/2 years, or a University (here in my state which offers a BSN) which is 4 years. What would you recommend?
I am so glad I found your channel and this video because I am starting pre -nursing school in 2 weeks and this video is going to help a lot thank you!!
I'm in an accelerated nursing program and it's very difficult. More tips would be to talk to your other classmates!!! They really are going to be your life and death partner when it comes to some of these nursing classes. I start clinicals next month, and you definitely will need them when the time comes. Also like Holley said, study study study!! Do NOT wait until the last minute to take quizzes or tests! Also, read those books they give you!! The Kaplan, NCLEX, and Saunders practice tests and quizzes are very difficult if you do not take this serious enough and study the material! It's exciting but it requires hard work. Good luck guys.
Makes me feel so much better when you said you called them four times a week. I've been emailing the admissions lady at my school like every week and I feel like a stalker haha!
Hello, Holley! I recently got accepted into East Carolina University. I will be starting the pre-nursing track in the spring of 2018. Your tips were really helpful. Thank you! :)
I just started watching your videos a few days ago and I had no idea you were at the University of Iowa! I'm actually starting my freshman year at UofI this fall!!! I'm also doing pre-nursing!
Hey girl I have a few questions about being a CNA! Did you have to take a course to become certified? Also how do you like the job in general ( including the dirty work)? I'm looking into applying to become one soon and I've seen some places will certify you at they're location, was just wondering what you had done!
YES! 6 week course usually. I love my job. Yes, it's not pretty all the time, but its hands on patient care and its very rewarding in my opinion. I love it!
Hey I love the way you explain everything I'm starting College Classes this spring 2017. I do plan on majoring on Nursing now I do have a question or 2. So, is it 2 years college and then 2 years for nursing to get your BSN OR is it 2 years college and then 4 years to get your BSN. Sorry if I sound ignorant but no one in my family went to college and I'm the first one and its all just new to me. Thank You.
It's different here. Prerequisite classes can take 2 or 3 years, then the nursing program is another 2 years. The BSN depends like 1.5 years or 2. There are accelerated programs. I live in California
I think there's prerequisites no matter what type of nursing degree you go for. At least in Arizona, there are prerequisites for LPNs and 1-2 years for your associates and 2 for a bachelors. For our community college associates programs it's like a year of prerequisites and then 3 years on a wait list just for a 2 year degree.
I'm a freshman in college and this video was super helpful! Did anyone ever say anything about your nose ring? I have my nose pierced, and I know a couple of people told me that it doesn't look professional for prospective nursing/actual nursing students.
Depends where you work! I have no issues with it right now, but next semester in clinical I may have to take it out. Just depends:) It's who I am, so the non professional thing doesn't bother me!
Different nursing schools will have different pre-recs as well so make sure that you look at the required classes for ALL the different schools so you are planning to apply to! It isn't straight forward unfortunately and you don't want to miss out on a great program because you didn't take the right classes to be able to apply!
YES definitely do not cram the night before an exam! I would do this before i had an exam for my general biology, and it never did any good. Studying a little everyday is definitely a much better idea.
my school is a 4 year BSN program and you start in the nursing program right in your freshman year and do your first clinical by second semester sophomore year. I would highly recommend doing a program like mine if you can find one!
this video actually helps A LOT because I have wanted to give up so many times, and kind of like you I made a C in my first anatomy so I have to retake it. I don't know how long it will take before I apply but this video helped, thank you!
Would you be able to do a video about how you got into the program? Like what were your grades each semester, what your nursing program's prereqs were, and the application process.
The getting your classes done early is also good because once you hit 100 completed units at a community college, you lose priority registration......... Which is awful. It's hard enough to get into pre-reqs.
I am a sophomore in High School, My dream is to become a pediatric NP. I always am looking for ways to get ahead of my education and learn. I have enrolled and just got accepted into a program that is considered my secondary high school aside from my primary high school, that offers a course that you can can your CNA through. I know nothing as of right now because I do not start till this upcoming fall. However I have watched a few of your videos and taken notes on them, I feel they have given me a great deal of information that I can use to my advantage. I appreciate you taking the time to help people like me who like to get ahead of the game and who are driven to succeed.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm entering my freshman year of college in Fall 2017 and honestly haven't really known what to do! This helped a lot! :)
what do you mean you didn't get a spot in your nursing school? like when you applied to college as an incoming freshman, did you not apply as a nursing major?
I appreciate your channel and all of the info. I just wanted to add as a graduate from a two year nursing program about to enter a RN to BSN program, I can assure you that there is nothing simple about earning your ASN/ADN. I'm sure it was just an oversight and misuse of words.
What are the college classes that you could have taken in high school? I know I want to be a pediatric nurse and im hoping to get my use out of the "free college classes" because i am going to be a junior thankss
i didnt get college classes in high school i was homeschooled. so im going to community(im late for applying). but if nursing is full rn then im gonna do lvn/lpn.
Hey! Thank you for your awesome videos! I'm considering about going for nursing, I'm still in HS, but it's never too early to start learning, right? Can you please do a video about studying and hacks please? Thank you! 😊
To any one who is in high school, take those dual credit classes that will transfer to your college transcript!!! I can not stress that enough. I was so scared taking those back in high school and thought I wasn't smart enough. Take them. You will thank yourself when you're in college and you can graduate early than your peers or friends who didn't take them. I wish I did because I'm super behind.
Hey Holley! just wanted to let you know that i had to create an new youtube! Just stopping by to say i love your channel and everything that you are doing! i want to hear about your midterms and what you did to prepare. love you - Nolan XOX
I'm currently starting my pre-nursing classes. I'm supporting myself and going to school full time. I was wondering if it would be best to drop a class or two and get a W (withdrawal) instead of a D or F which would affect my GPA. Obviously take those classes but later on when I have time.
I wish i could take those science classes early. We have a path to follow. Chem, anatomy, physio, then microbiology. I'm nervous i had a solid C in chemistry. I have an A in anatomy. If i get A's and B's on the remainder of classes will i be ok? I also have a D from a stupid linguistics class i took.
Hi I’m just watching this video know. And it might be a know answer already but I don’t, i was wondering do you have to go to a regular college before you do nursing school. Because my school has a nursing program through school you can take your junior and senior year of high school, and the program has a college you can take right after high school as well but not sure if you have to go to a regular college first or can go straight to nursing school. Please let me know. And love your videos they give you a heads up of what your getting yourself into and to be prepared instead of under prepared.
Love your video; everything you said is SO true. Don't forget men can be nurses too (you said "girls" a lot in your first tip). Good luck with nursing school :)
hello there , i'm started follow you recently , i'm wondering what camera do you use, the quality is really good and i'm about to buy one so could you help me.
I have a question if you go to nursing school in one state but live in another when you are licensed and registered do you have to work in the state you are licensed or the one you live in.
You wont get much out of these videos on what career you want pursue until you get hands on experience. That what i did and i seen firsthand what the nurses do on the daily basis. Its not for all people.
Hey Holley, I am a pre-nursing student and I will be applying to a BSN nursing program next Spring. My question is, how did you get qualified for a CNA job while completing your pre-reqs for nursing school? Did you have to take a completely different set of classes for the CNA certification? Or do hospitals hire nursing students for CNA jobs? Thank you!
Honestly it depends where you work! I was hired as a CNA, but some jobs will pay for you to take the class and become certified. But I took the class in the summer because yes, it is a completely different set of classes!
I'm a guy trying to get into nursing school right now and I have a question for you. I had a female friend tell me I shouldn't do it because I'm a guy and I would make patients uncomfortable. I got a chance to kind of check out the school I was one of just a handful of guys there. It is intimidating due to that, I hope you understand why. Would you have any advice on overcoming this?
armedwithmusic I don't think people would choose a female nurse over a male nurse at any time, but maybe if it's with very young children or something gynecological. I know there's a stigma with men that they can't be as caring to children as women...but in terms of job prospects I'd say a male nurse would find a job much easier than a female one. My mother's employer had a male nurse apply and he got the job, because there's a real shortage of male nurses in the field. Also there's many scholarships for male nurses. I think you should try :)

I'm a Pre-Nursing Student and this was so helpful thank you!
Me too

***** My high school offered a CNA course that could be completed for seniors in high school. It lasted over a period of 4 months I believe.
Lauren S I received my certification as a junior in high school.
Lauren S I
Lauren S im going straight to nursing cuz my aunt sees no point in not doing so. but if its full then im going to do lvn first.
Great video! I graduate in December with my BSN and these tips were perfect for people who are just starting! Good luck with school, like you said take it day by day. In the end all the long nights and stressful weeks are worth it and the right people will be by your side the day you graduate.
Pre nursing is killing me, but yes gotta keep going. Good job on nursing school!!!
Studying a bit everyday is a lot better than studying the night before.
I'm still in high school, and ik that it really doesn't work well 😭. Trying to get the hang of juggling all my classes.
I couldn't agree more, studying everyday for me has been life changing. Even if I am without adequate sleep at this time in my life juggling all these classes, it will be worth it in the end. Rather than cramming and not getting one bit of real 'sticking there' type information.

I've just finished my first month at University studying Adult Nursing, absolutely love it!
Well done!!! Were do you study? I also study Adult Nursing but in the UK!!
Tip #9 probably far is probably the most underrated but extremely pure wisdom and important! Having a great circle around you can make all of the difference in your success of what your trying to achieve. The wrong circle can lead you to fall short of the glory. #KEEP RANTING!!!!💯💯💯

This was a helpful video, thanks! And I love how genuine you are in front of a camera, it's refreshing these days haha!
Well thank you!

Thank you for this video! I just started college this week and I am a pre nursing student!
so am I :) aspiring nurse midwive
Thank you so so much for this video! I start at the University of Northern Iowa next week as a pre-nursing student and am not as nervous now!!!
Yay! Maybe I will see you around CF:)
Thank you! :)
Can you make a video about being a CNA. Such as tips, pre/post feelings entering the job. Things of that sort.
YES! That is a video I would actually love to make. I love being a CNA:)
Thank you for this! Good luck with your nursing journey 😊
I loved this video thank you so much!!! I am retaking chemistry right now and reapplying after fall semester!
This applies so well to any degree! 😊 Love these videos - and love LulaRoe!
Wow thank you so much! I'm doing my prerequisites for the nursing program & this is really helpful 😊😊😊
Aw good, Emily! SO happy it helps:)
I just started watching your videos a few days ago and I had no idea you were at the University of Iowa! I'm actually starting my freshman year at UofI this fall!!! I'm also doing pre-nursing!
Loved the school! GO HAWKS!
How were you able to retake a&p2 when you got a C? At my school we can only retake a course we get a D or F in:/
This is so useful! It was hard to find a video like this. Please make more vids about nursing and your experiences!
This was so helpful. Thanks for sharing!
I think I just found my new favorite UA-cam channel 😁💪🏼
how long did it take you to finish your pre-reqs? and did you go full-time?
Full time undergrad, 2 years!
I love it!

Well thanks so much! So I went to school for pre requisite classes for two years, then my BSN program is 2.5 years! So 4.5 years total for my BSN:)
Nice. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

hahah yes!
love your advice! thanks so much! you got yourself a new subscriber!
Do you recommend, being in pre nursing school and being in school Activities such as marching band would be a good idea?
Davin BCU17 i need to know this too

Ahhh thanks so much, Elena! :)
Thank you so much for this video! I'm entering my freshman year of college in Fall 2017 and honestly haven't really known what to do! This helped a lot! :)

You mentioned you took Chem this summer. How was it? I'm taking it right now for the fall semester. Thank you!
Not terrible! Doable!
havefaith2016 very tough but able to do
I appreciate your channel and all of the info. I just wanted to add as a graduate from a two year nursing program about to enter a RN to BSN program, I can assure you that there is nothing simple about earning your ASN/ADN. I'm sure it was just an oversight and misuse of words.
Hi Jillian- Sorry if my choice of words offended you! Any nursing degree/program is very difficult! :)
do they help you in nursing school? I don't think I can remember all this stuff .-. I can't do it alone
Early admission is for seniors right ?
I'm in a RN step school where I go 2 years get my RN and then do 1-2 years for the BSN
Meredith Miller I’m doing the same thing
Where did you go to school? I'm intereste to be a RN
I might sound dumb, what is step school?
supernaturally-made it’s a 2 step program so you get your associates and work while you get your bachelors.
What spray routine do you have ??? Any recommendations ?? Lotions or spray bottles ??:)
Love your energy!
Holley you are gorgeous ! Goodluck you got this !
Thank you!
What are the college classes that you could have taken in high school? I know I want to be a pediatric nurse and im hoping to get my use out of the "free college classes" because i am going to be a junior thankss
Love it your so real and relatable.
thanks for sharing your video it's really helpful
I love your shirt so much!!! And hair! Where did you get your shirt??
i didnt get college classes in high school i was homeschooled. so im going to community(im late for applying). but if nursing is full rn then im gonna do lvn/lpn.
Hey! Thank you for your awesome videos! I'm considering about going for nursing, I'm still in HS, but it's never too early to start learning, right? Can you please do a video about studying and hacks please? Thank you! 😊
Yes I can!
Do you happen to know where you got this headband from? :) I always get mine at Target but this looks like it holds your hair back! Thanks.

Hey Holley! just wanted to let you know that i had to create an new youtube! Just stopping by to say i love your channel and everything that you are doing! i want to hear about your midterms and what you did to prepare. love you - Nolan XOX
I'm new at this, but I want to be a CNA, while working on my QMAP, which is administering medications.
Not sure what a QMAP is:(
I'm currently starting my pre-nursing classes. I'm supporting myself and going to school full time. I was wondering if it would be best to drop a class or two and get a W (withdrawal) instead of a D or F which would affect my GPA. Obviously take those classes but later on when I have time.
this was super helpful! thank you so much :)
great video! where did you get your shirt? it is SO cute.
Love you Chanel! I have 3 classes to go for my prerequisites and than I can apply for nursing :)))
Thanks for this video! 👍 Very helpful!
Thank you! Glad it helped! :)
Great video!! Thank you ♥️

I have a question if you go to nursing school in one state but live in another when you are licensed and registered do you have to work in the state you are licensed or the one you live in.
Where did you get your shirt?
Great Video!
Hey, I've got a question about early admission for college, at what year of high school can you apply for it?😞
Depends! I would've around my senior year of high school!
Ok, thank you so much!
I'm in senior year and I'm torn between nursing school or a biochem major??
blomaway Nursing!!!! Great pay and job availability.
Javier Ramirez yess but is it somewhat enjoyable?
You wont get much out of these videos on what career you want pursue until you get hands on experience. That what i did and i seen firsthand what the nurses do on the daily basis. Its not for all people.
Javier Ramirez ok thanks so much for the advice!
My friend Greg actually has a biology major as well as now working towards his BSN, so it truly is up to the person and what they enjoy!
Can I be an LPN and go straight to a nursing school after ? W.o attending college ?
Hey Holley, I am a pre-nursing student and I will be applying to a BSN nursing program next Spring. My question is, how did you get qualified for a CNA job while completing your pre-reqs for nursing school? Did you have to take a completely different set of classes for the CNA certification? Or do hospitals hire nursing students for CNA jobs? Thank you!
Im a cna and my hospital paid for me to take a class through them
Honestly it depends where you work!
I think you should try :)
armedwithmusic I'm a male nursing student and I haven't had any problems because of being a guy. It's different, but definitely worth it!
