I have been saying for years that Kohli combines the best qualities of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman rolled into one.
There are not too many centuries at any level of cricket where the batsman has not given a chance or two at some stage. In test cricket the average team innings is probably about 100 overs with on average 6 of the 10 wickets caught. Probably 3 in 4 catches are taken which means a dropped catch every 50 overs or 300 balls. So every batsman from number 1 to 11 will get a life every 300 balls they face. A batsman who averages 50 and strikes at 67 runs per 100 balls (Viv Richards for example) will face on average 75 balls per knock, therefore get a life every 4 innings. It is only logical that that will be the innings they go on and get a hundred - it is very soft of a batsman not to make the fielding side pay. A batsman like Glenn McGrath on the other hand who only averages 7 and only faces 15 balls per innings will only get a life every 20 times they bat. Laws of probability.
