      Let me share something about Mrs. Sarkisian many may not know. After all games there is a press conference in the player room at DKR or press room at away games and sometimes just outside the locker room like in the case when Texas played Houston.
      This is how it goes, always. The media walks in and gets settled, cameras ready, video rolling, phones on record, then we wait for Sarkisian to arrive and address the media. A couple minutes before coach walks in, his wife walks in and takes a seat on the end of the first row if at DKR or a seat close by during away games.
      Regardless if Texas won or lost, Mrs. Sarkisian is ALWAYS within view of coach Sarkisian when he walks in the room and while he is talking with media. [ALWAYS]. When the press conference is over, Sarkisian walks to the door where his wife meets him and he opens or holds the door for her to go first.
      It is a remarkable scene to watch where no words are needed.

    I will say this. I don't know all of the play callers in the country. But, he is the best to come through Tuscaloosa in my lifetime. Kiffin was good too, but Sark was even better. Not saying Sark was a better oc(hard to say, both were top notch oc's), just saying I liked his play calling a little better. Hope Bama gets another shot at Texas. May the best teams win.

    It sounds like Coach Sark had a bicuspid aortic valve. This story, unfortunately, is inaccurate. The heart has 4 valves: the tricuspid, pulmonary, mitral, and aortic. The aortic valve typically has 3 cusps/leaflets. When closed and the leaflets are touching each other, it looks like a Mercedes Benz sign. Normally, when the heart pumps, the valve opens like a dam wall, and blood flows in one direction through it. And when the leaflets come back together, it creates a seal, preventing back-flow. Abnormal valves, however, leak because they don’t create a good seal, allowing blood to go backwards. The most common is what Coach Sark likely had, meaning his aortic valve leaked because he had only two functioning leaflets. (Deeper cut: For those in premed, the aortic valve leaflet tissues are all there, it’s just that 2 of the leaflets are fused together, usually right and left). Also, those with a bicuspid aortic valve are also thought to have some underlying connective tissue issue, meaning the stuff that comprises your blood vessels (or the aorta) is also compromised. It causes a combination of things: 1) higher pressures because the heart has to push the normal + leaked amount of blood (Deeper cut: the valve thickens, making it harder to open, needing more force/pressure). 2) Compromised blood vessel walls dilate more readily, especially under higher force/pressure. You ever see an outstretched rubber band that loses its elasticity, then snaps real easily with a slight tug? Same issue.
    Luckily, it got caught. Or he would’ve bled out had it ruptured.
    TL;DR. If you are related to anyone who died suddenly for no apparent reason, drowning, car crash, etc., get checked out. This is especially true for athletes and soldiers, who have a higher risk of sudden death.
    Love,
    Your friendly pediatric cardiologist
    Also, Happy New Year!

    • @ugaladh
      @ugaladh 5 місяців тому +1

      @@orangeblood307 the video said he had 2 heart valves instead of 3 ( you actually have 4 valves). what he had was a bicuspid aortic valve - so on that one valve, he had two leaflets instead of three, this does cause problems in some people. and He would have had an ascending aortic artery aneurysm, not a "heart aneurysm". Doesn't really matter, he had issues requiring heart and aorta surgery, so initially I only pointed out there was misinfo. instead of coming in with all this until asked.
