- Dennis Elsas: Without question my most memorable interview and on-air experience to date was on September 28, 1974, a Saturday afternoon I spent with John Lennon.
I had met him just a few weeks before at the Record Plant recording studio and casually asked him if he’d like to come up to the station to talk about his forthcoming album Walls and Bridges. I doubted anything would come of it, since none of the Beatles had ever visited our station before. When he showed up eager to talk, bringing with him some obscure 45’s he wanted to share with the audience, I didn’t know what to expect.
What began as an opportunity to promote the new album, turned into two hours of rare Beatle stories, insights into his immigration struggles, and John as the DJ, introducing and commenting on all the music, commercials and weather.
The complete show is part of the permanent collection of the Paley Center For Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio).

All these years later, and somehow it’s still hard to believe John’s not with us. He will live on through his music in our hearts
Everyone has an opinion on Mr. John Winston Lennon and for what it's worth ( nothing) here's mine. My all time hero, yes we all know he had flaws, no one more so than John himself. The most opened souled songwriter of them all. Yes, there are probably more talented musicians, McCartney, lyricists, obviously Zimmerman and on and so forth. But songs like 'Don't let me down', 'Julia', 'Jealous Guy', and on and on and on. The man bared his soul on some of the best songs ever written and then you get the usual stuff from people like: but he beat his first wife or he wasn't a great father to Julian. But how do these people know these things? Because he told the world that he was flawed and never pretended to be perfect or try to defend himself from his obvious wrong doings. I couldn't care what people across the universe have to say about him. We all shine on!!!!!!!!!!!
Lennon hit Cynthia once when they were dating which was wrong. But you should check out the video on youtube called `John Lennon: Love is all you need - full movie - flick vault`. Cynthia speaks so lovingly of John. She absolutely loved and adored him. His haters like to stain his memory with the wife beating stories. All BS. Like you , Lennon is also my all time hero!.

I really love John Lennon and I miss him very much.
It seems almost like it’s not the John Lennon we knew until I realized it was in the middle of his Lost Weekend, the year he spent with May Pang. He’s probably not doing heroin here and sounds so lively and enthusiastic. He made great music then.
John was home with Yoko and pretty sober, he left with the tapes and escaped back to New York. I think he was smoking a little pot but no coke/heroin.
Like to hear his voice, even if I don't understand every word.
I grew up north of NY City and remember when this first aired.
