BTW, if anyone's interested in what it's like to walk through connecting gangway between two cabs, here's a video of a Japanese E259, which has a very similar cab design: (ua-cam.com/video/cPf4AJOT27w/v-deo.html)
This Trains look like rapid service from Narita to Tokyo they have that funny shape in front hopefully you can experience the Japanese Railway system some day you’ll be amazed
Most likely to reduce wear and tear and theirfore have lower maintainance costs. Also the Netherlands is a quite small country with mayor cities not far away from each other, so you would always accelerate only to minutes later break again. You wouldn't be able to drive high speeds for very long times, so its probably not worth it for the energy consumption to go as fast, only to save a minute on a trip or so.

Even when they removed the gangways, we still call them “Koploper”, as the nickname just stuck

I'm glad you think so! I may not be from the Netherlands, but I do my best to pronounce everything in its native language.

The design of that terminal is almost like that of NYC Penn, except the location of the elevators are different.
The trains look a lot like the old Pulman TurboTrain.
Can you review the Latvian and Lithuanian trains? On some you can open the window and look out.
If I ever get out to that part of Europe, absolutely!
@@LonestarTrips 👍 If you are a crazy rail enthusiast you can to Riga - Tallinn by train, you have to transfer and it takes like 7 hours 😆
Why are 99mph trains limited to 87mph?
Perhaps of the schedule and/or the tracks.
Not sure tbh. It’s like that it CAN hit 99, but it’s not safe or sustainable to go that fast.
The signalling system used on Dutch railways only permits speed up to 140km/h.

The voltage doesnt allow 160kph. Only the HSL allows 300+. Rumour has it, the lines will be upgraded to 160kph
