The smoke produced as a result of wood combustion is passed into a catalytic chamber or a catalyst-coated honeycomb for ignition and burning. The particles in the smoke are burned again to fully utilize the fuel. Such stoves are known to produce even heat and are technologically a bit more advanced than non-catalytic stoves. 🔥 The stove has a wood-burning chamber that opens into a catalyst-coated chamber via a lever. Once you load up the wood inside the chamber, it is burned to produce heat, and smoke particles are released as a by-product. This smoke is led into the chemical catalyst-coated chamber. The coating is usually platinum or palladium; both are good conducting metals and interact with the smoke inside the chamber. 💬 Let us know what you think of these Catalytic Wood Stoves in the comment section below. 👉 We appreciate every thumbs up and would be grateful if you’d consider subscribing to our channel!! ------------------------------------- 🎥 Welcome to the official UA-cam Channel of HVAC Training 101 🎥 HVAC Training 101 is dedicated to helping you make smarter buying decisions when it comes to air conditioners, heaters, air purifiers, and other HVAC-related items. 🌐 Learn more about us: hvactraining101.com/about-me/ 💻 Like our Page: hvactraining101.com/facebook/ 📢 Follow us on Twitter: hvactraining101.com/twitter/ 📱 Check out our Pinterest: hvactraining101.com/pinterest/ 🔴Subscribe to our Channel: hvactraining101.com/youtube/ ------------------------------------- Disclaimer: Some of the footage used in this video is not original content produced by HVAC Training 101. How anyone can honestly put out a top catalyst wood stoves video that doesn’t feature a Blaze King is beyond me? They obviously weren’t willing to pay for a “plug” like inferior manufacturers like regency, and hearthstone were!
Anyone know how long the cats last on the blaze kings and if there's a way to make them if say the company goes under or stops making them later for any reason? With that said, anyone know if these are even less efficient than an old school stove with the cat bypass engaged? Wonder what kind of burn times it gets with vs without the cat? What kind of temps could I expect with it cranked all the way down low? Keep wondering if I could get a bigger stove and get way longer burn times and still working the cat efficiently for a well insulated 1200 sq ft house. Thanks for any insight as it will be greatly appreciated
@@jackle842000 Catalysts definitely help to improve on burn times, as they heat up while contacting the smoke, which in turn raises the temperature of the stove around it. This allows you to run a stove on a lower temperature setting, feed the fire less air, and still get the same heat output as you would on a higher setting, without a catalyst. The cats themselves in BK stoves have a ten year manufacturing warranty. As far as the company going under goes - it would be a shocker, but if it did happen, there are plenty of aftermarket options for wood stove catalysts on Amazon etc. A Blaze King Princess, or another model in their medium sized range would have no problems heating 1200 feet. Mine heats double that with ease! Burn times depend a lot on the wood you’re using, and where your temperature thermostat setting is. While manufacturers always gloat ridiculous burn times like 30-40 hours, it simply isn’t going to happen. Expect 12 to 15 hours during normal use - while burning seasoned hardwoods, or fir. If you’re burning dry pine, then you can expect about 6 to 8 hours during normal use. I guess you could technically bump those times up some by running the stove at its lowest setting, but in that case you aren’t really going to be heating much during the later portion of the burn. I never recommend running a Blaze King on it’s lowest temperature setting for long periods of time. Unless you like cleaning your chimney/stove pipe every month. Try to have at least 1 hour long very hot fire per day. This will help keep your creosote buildup under control.
@@diggergeensen860 Thanks for the info. I was kinda wanting to get the blaze king 40 series and run it low and slow all the time but I guess that's not going to be a good idea then. We have fairly mild winters compared to many northern states in the eastern Oklahoma area. I really hate to mess up and get the wrong size. I have an old Ashley stove that absolutely burns me out of the house now that holds up to 22" logs and I'm not real fond of it because I have to let the fire burn out and restart it even on real cold days. I read some comments on forums acting like it's ok to run these bk cat stoves super low but I don't want to do that if it'll crud up the chimney fast. Now I'm back to wondering if I should just forget about it and go with a reburn stove instead? So hard to decide as I've not tried either of these newer styled stoves. We just burn oak mostly
@@jackle842000 It is ok to run them super low, but not constantly. You’ll have to heat it up at least once a day for an hour. You’ll still burn much less wood than you are used to with a Blaze King though. Just open a window or door once in a while during your daily cookouts if it gets too hot. You should be able to control your temperature well enough to not have to let it go out, and constantly re-light it. I wouldn’t recommend a reburn stove. I had a regency reburn stove in my last place and I burnt 3 times as much wood as I do with a catalyst. Boomer Sooner 🍻. Also if you are heating a small space definitely buy a cold air intake kit for whatever stove you choose. You don’t want to keep recycling old air. Your stove won’t run as efficiently and the stagnant air will make you feel like shit.
I was wanting a pot belly stove. cause the metal keep it heat longer > So i got a Large US Stove Logwood Cast Iron Stove that can cook on the top > it was only 125 dollars new.

Been heating my home 5 months a year with a Blaze King for 17 yr's and would never consider anything else.
#1 Blaze King

I can fully understand why you added your comment,as I have a blaze king princess and is truly amazing

Only had two manufacturers? There are a lot of catalyst stoves out there. I have a blaze king sirroco 30 and it’s awesome!
We will update this one. Thank you
@@HVACTraining101, looking forward to this update. Blaze King is probably the top catalyst stove brand.
Only two of the manufacturers paid up.
Hearthstone ad.
Not a single mention of Blaze King or Woodstock Soapstone Company. The industry leaders in catalytic wood stoves for decades.
Thank you for your suggestion. We will review and update this one.
just ordered the ideal steel from woodstock soapstone company by far the best stove on the planet
I was wanting a pot belly stove. cause the metal keep it heat longer > So i got a Large US Stove Logwood Cast Iron Stove that can cook on the top > it was only 125 dollars new.

woodstock soap stone keystone.
They missed the best woodstove of all the Blaze King LOL 🙂
Useless without prices.
Useless without mentioning best selling models.
Not a good one for the recommend for the title,
Click Bait,
Research a bit😉
No inserts shown, bummer.
Blatant Advertising, don't believe a word. Hearthstone is a great stove Regency is OK but definitely not the best. There are lots of better stoves.
Vermont Castings Defiant is BEST stove overall period. How this stove doesn’t make you list makes me question your revenue source….
This video is a commercial for particular brand not backed up by real facts.
Vermont Castings is best !!!
