I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like I'm some huge Muta fan or anything. He was before my time, but I know his importance to the industry and what he's done for Japanese wrestling. With that being said though, this entrance gave me chills. The ring announcer did a good job. "For the very last tiiiiiiime......." A fitting sendoff for a legend in the business. Bye bye Muta!
If you haven't seen much of his time in WCW, the Dark Carnival with Vampiro was great Kinda lost in the shuffle with the NWO Sad to see him go, but age gets us all in the end
@@SantaPorter420i’d say he was wasted in wcw. in 2000 he still had a name in america, and if done properly he could have been a big heel for sting or someone like ddp to face. instead they put him with the dark carnival lol
@@dmonsterrrrrrr his work with Vampiro was great, the Dark Carnival was one of the few bright spots of the really crappy swansong for WCW, personally I wanted to see Muta vs Hart, or Muta vs Eddie Guerrero
@@SantaPorter420 i’d disagree with calling it great. maybe for the standards of wcw in 2000. but not by the standards mutoh was known for, not by a long shot. at least from my memory their matches were usually either 3 minute squashs or it was 7 minutes usually ending with a run in or dq i think their team was cool it could have probably worked with more success. but it was a waste for vampiro and especially muta. so many great matches they could have done if they knew how to book them and if muta wanted to
@@dmonsterrrrrrr oh I was talking WCW standards, Muta in Japan or Vampiro in Mexico, very different quality But considering how bad WCW was at that point, Dark Carnival was often the highlight
Well earned Retirement for The Great Muta, can every wrestling promotion that he's ever wrestled for in the Hall of Fame already. I don't care if it a one off appearance. Still, Great Muta earned and deserves to be in every single one of them
1 of the greatest if not the greatest japanese wrestling superstars of all time.( in my view he is ) the only japanese wrestling star to hold 2 major U.S. championships, the nwa tv and nwa world. You'll be missed. THANK YOU, MUTA.
They show a minute and 10 seconds video of him walking into the. So I don't know why he's quitting Does anybody know why he's quitting Please let me know
Evan farther back than that. Keiji Muto started the Great Muta gimmick in WCW in 1989, but his first matches in the US were in 1985 in Florida as White Ninja, He debuted in New Japan in 1984.
First Jushin Thunder Liger, now The Great Muta. I've never been the most hardcore, diehard, tape trading wrestling fan, but those two were low key "always there"- perpetually in the periphery since my brother got me on to wrestling in my early 80s childhood. Through Horsemen and Hulkamania, Hart vs Michaels, ECW, Austin 3:16, NWO 4 LIFE, etc... they were always guys that at least struck the "oh yeah, I heard of them" chord even when a lot of domestic US talent never reached such a level of name recognition being on TV every week for a couple years in [insert fed here]. And now, as a grown man in my 40s, it sounds weird that these two guys won't be around anymore. I get you can't do it forever, but The Great Muta was one of those that made it seem like some folks could.
NOAH is really stepping up their game this year. Only good things will come if they keep going like that. Great commentary by the way. True passion, doesn't sound manufactured.
like stated before, muta was before my time but i still respect what he did. was able to catch the ass-end of his noah stuff born in 98, but I'll admit this beats any entrance. muta's entrence's were so cold and the baby clothes muta was adorable!
Muto first appeared as "Great Mota" in the NWA's World Championship Wrestling territory on the March 18, 1989, edition of Saturday Night. His manager Gary Hart introduced him as the son of the Great Kabuki, whom Gary Hart also had managed years earlier. ua-cam.com/video/-6rq_azufF0/v-deo.html

The best part was seeing Sting stoically waiting for his long time rival and now friend walk down one last time.
