I'm alone but I cooked a traditional Thanksgiving meal. I love it and I get so many meals from the turkey!! I make 🦃 tetrazzini (makes 8 servings), 🦃rice& veg casserole (8 servings) 🦃Shepards pie(4 servi ngs), 🦃& gravy for open faced hot 🦃sandwiches (6 servings), sliced 🦃with mashed taters, dressing, gravy & veg (4 servings), sliced 🦃for 2 cold sandwiches and a huge pot of turkey soup (8 servings). 🦃was $.59lb and I got 20lb bird. I put all meals in individual servings in my freezer. 2 days cooking for 41 meals!! So worth it. Let's me eat well and stay on budget. Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving. Such blessings. Beautiful. 💕
I was with my son's family for Thanksgiving week. But I'll be alone at Christmas and might do something similar. Alone doesn't necessarily mean Ionely! It can be a fun, festive and creative time to try out new ideas and menus. My goal is to empty out my freezer stockpile into creative meals up until the Christmas holidays and then cook up fresh meals that week.😊
I made a casserole today. I boiled 2 c of small penne al dente. I sautéed an onion, made a roux, added milk and added some mixed vegetables and sliced mushrooms, turkey and added 2 c chicken stock. Season to taste with garlic salt, a garden blend Season, pepper. I added mozzarella. Put in a glass dish. Put Season breadcrumbs and some butter baked for 25 minutes at 350. Delicious.
We went to our son’s for Thanksgiving and I came home with the turkey carcass, among other things. Today I got it going on the crock pot with some carrots, onion and celery, some parsley and rosemary from our garden. After a few hours I pulled the rest of the meat from the bones and strained the broth. It will chill in the fridge overnight and tomorrow I’ll skim the fat and we will have a delicious broth for turkey soup! Love your idea for the turkey / stuffing casserole!
What a fantastic Italian Deli, we don’t seem to have many of those in the UK, you are so lucky. Thank you Emmie and Paul for letting us join you for your family thanksgiving. Your brother Pauls home is so cosy and welcoming and It was a real pleasure to see the delicious Italian family feast. Your brother Sam must bring the family a lot of laughter when you are all together, he seems to have a great sense of humour, I can’t wait for the doughnuts! As usual your video didn’t disappoint, every moment filled with joy, happy times and brilliant ideas. Happy thanksgiving from here in the UK
We don’t have thanksgiving in the uk. On Boxing Day we make our left over veg into bubble and squeak, have it with a fried egg on top and cold turkey with pickled onions. Some times I enjoy that more than the main Christmas lunch.
As a Senior on Social Security, festive holidays, are now low key affairs, though I have to say, all the foods you shared look totally deliciou!! Very occasionally, I treat myself to lunch out, because I possibly prepare a similar meal at home for anywhere near the cost. A couple of local hotels offer beautful buffets for less than $20.00 per person. I tend to stick with healthy choices that satisfy. For Christmas, family meets to exchange gifts, and we usually enjoy a tour of Christmas lights, Growng up in the UK, Christmas was very traditional, not the same now. In hindsight I am amazed that my mother started making Christmas puddings and Christmas cakes from scratch long before December. Instead of having a fake tree, or cutting a live one, we bought a baby Christmas tree with roots. It was decorated for the holidays, then planted in the garden to be brought inside the following year, and the year after. When too big to dig up and pot to bring inside, we decorated it with treats for the wild birds to help them survive the winter. We also put out fresh water for them, and made sure it wasn't covered with ice. We loved watching them. We used to thread peanuts on strings to hang from rose bushes for blue tits. Their acrobatics were always so entertaining. Cheap and cheerful entertainment as well as helping wildlife. Happy holidays to you and your family, including pets!
For the Delawareans out there, we make Bobbies with the leftovers! Bobbies are submarine sandwiches with sliced turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Thanksgiving on a bun!
I had oral surgery the day before Thanksgiving so my husband was in charge of our meal! He did such a great job! Left overs are sandwiches, thanksgiving dinner again and will probably do tetrazinni also. What a beautiful home your family has. So happy to see the puppies were included!! 💕
Your family’s Thanksgiving has Norman Rockwell vibes! All the dishes looked yummy and the house and table so welcoming and festive. Shout out to your son bearing chocolate turkeys-perfect ! And that Sam - what a HAM!!! That man needs to start his own channel- he loves being on camera 😂
We are in San Diego so of course we have turkey tacos with fresh corn tortillas from the tortillaria down the street. Then add lettuce, tomato, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. So yummy.
I'm making Chicken and Dumplings for supper using up the broth I made from whole chicken to make Dressing yesterday plus the chicken meat from legs and thighs. My sweet potato casserole is made with the same ingredients you used but I've always boiled the potatoes. Next time I'm trying your baking method.
We ate dinner with friends and had a German themed dinner in honor of their grandson in law who is of German heritage. Lovely they chose to honor his history. Interesting food but tomorrow, I'm making us a traditional turkey dinner and trying a brined turkey for the first time.
Thank you for sharing your day with us. I absolutely agree with your sentiment that living frugally for the rest of the year allows us to make celebrations more elaborate. Blessings to you all
Thank you for taking us to your brother's home and for showing us all the gorgeous decorations and the beautiful table and food. SO lovely.... How cute your son got a chocolate turkey for each guest. Awww... What a lovely day!! Blessings...
Leftovers for the freezer: several tv dinners, 2 cottage pie casseroles, 2 small bags of meat. Made open faced sandwiches with the artichoke cheese dip and diced turkey for 2 meals. Enjoyed leftover mini pumpkin tarts at my leisure. Am making French toast with the leftover bread tomorrow. Still have crustless pumpkin pie. And, of course, I made a huge pot of turkey soup today. I need to freeze some of it to enjoy later. I made an effort this year to not overcook and even bought just a turkey breast, instead of a whole turkey. It helped reduce leftovers.
@FrugalMoneySaver Oh, I used to love that. When my grandparents were alive, the day after, many of us would all gather again at their home around jobs, Black Friday, visiting others.... for another meal of leftovers and more visiting.. just a continuation of the holiday and being together as family. ❤️
My husband and I host Thanksgiving at our house every year and we always have a large crowd. This year it was 31 of us enjoying the traditional Thanksgiving dinner together. We had plenty of leftovers, so every family got some food and desserts for the next day. We had two complete Thanksgiving dinners so far and I just made a large pot of turkey and veggie soup. Blessings and a happy holiday season to all! Your channel is wonderful!
Wow beautiful table !! And family , even Dixie !! I make a shepards pie with my leftovers , stuffing ,vegies , gravy ,turkey, mashed potatoes on top ! yum And turkey noodle soup , turkey tetrazinni I love the leftovers !! Thanks so much for all you do !! I look forward to your videos every week !!!
I remember you showing us your famous sweet potato casserole before and wowza, does it look fantastic! I will have to make that sometime. I love making a Thanksgiving sandwich w/ leftovers and I also divvy up the leftovers into single serve portions and freeze. Then I can have a Thanksgiving dinner another time if I want. It feels like such a treat! What a lovely Thanksgiving spread at your brother’s home. Such blessing to be with family.
Your sweet potato casserole looks scrumptious!!!! I bought sweet potatoes for .25 cents per lb. I cooked them in the crock pot with a can of pineapple tidbits with the juice and rasins, cinnamon and brown sugar. I froze some of them. They were delicious. We didn't have a traditional Thanksgiving. We had ribs, scalloped potatoes, broccoli casserole and pumpkin pie. No leftovers this time.😂
I made turkey meat loaf for the first time and turned out great. My cat and her friend loved it too! Left overs: some were sliced and placed in freezer and some of it were cut up in little squares for turkey square soup- as opposed to meat ball soup:)
Your Sister In Law has a lovely home. She has gone to great lengths to make that table welcoming. Great to see your family photo with pups included😄 The serving plate fpr the one pot leftovers in just delightful. Thank you, Emmy, Paul, and your family for sharing your day with us. Cheers from "Down Under" ❤
Everything looked so delicious! Your brother's house looked so festive, and I love the bowback bench! Thank you for another wonderful video, Emmy and Paul. ❤
Hi Emmy & Paul, thanks for this video which I enjoyed very much. It was so interesting to see what you all do for thanksgiving. What a wonderful spread of food 😋 and it all looked so delicious. Thanks too for showing us inside of Giuseppe's. We don't have one in the UK, so I really found it interesting to see what they sell. I'm glad that you all had a lovely Thanksgiving day. Thanks again for all the excellent content you put out each week. I hope you both have a really good week. God bless you.❤
I send the leftovers back to college with my son (and make another pan of them for my daughter who already graduated, to take home) and let the boys devour them. He says they are waiting in the kitchen when he gets back! Thanks for the great video!
I wish we had a Italian shop like that in my town, what a great shop. I like the way you always decorate the kitchen in a different way ; great homemaker Emmy.
We love Uncle Giuseppe’s too! I’ll be making my own pignoli cookies this year. They are super expensive at the bakery and so are the nuts but like you mentioned being frugal on other things helps splurge on other things. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your entire beautiful family and Dixie!
My fav leftover Thanksgiving recipe was a light turkey tetrazzini recipe with butter and mushrooms and rotini noodles and sour cream and Parmesan cheese layered and baked. I’ll have to hunt down the recipe for that. For me it was worth making the turkey just so I could have the tetrazzini after. 😋
I love thanksgiving leftovers. I eat my pumpkin pie for breakfast. I have escarole soup from Thanksgiving for lunch and my favorite is turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce on a fresh seeded roll for dinner!
I’ve missed seeing you guys! I’ve been so busy but just thinking I need to see what you guys are up to! Hope you had a great a thanksgiving! Take care!! Have a blessed week!!
Your sweet potato casserole looks delicious, Emmy. So nice that Dixie went with you to enjoy Thanksgiving Day! 💕 I'll be heading to Shoprite tomorrow for some of those 2 day sale items. What a great price on ground beef! 😉
Quick question please, Emily. In this dish, do you think leftover green bean casserole would work? Or too creamy? Thank you! (So enjoyed the peek into your holiday and, yes, what a lovely table your sister-in-law presented.)
I love that you made that recipe with a creamed sauce! My husband is going to love this one! Thanks so much for this video and yummy recipe! Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas season to you and your family! 🎉
Is your brother Sam a Southern Baptist preacher? Ha Ha. Your Thanksgiving meal looks so wonderful and beautiful, it's a special art form making everything look so good, too. Blessings to you throughout the holiday season.
Happy Thanksgiving, Emmie, Paul and family! I’ll be making soup with leftover turkey and veg and then I’ll freeze whatever we don’t use..I had a brainstorm about pulled turkey and bean tacos….Who knows, it might be tasty😂
My older son and his wife hosted me and my other children and their families for a wonderful Thanksgiving day together. My DIL makes the best waffles! Dinner was delicious. We take turns saying what we are thankful for in alphabetical order. I enjoy turkey sandwiches and turkey noodle soup and turkey/veg/barley soup. I’m going to look up a turkey tetrazzini recipe. Several of your commenters mentioned making it.
Happy Thanksgiving emmy and Paul I made turkey pot pie and froze it for another night and yes emmy I was at shoprite this morning and I got those great sales some for the frezzer as well for a later time . Did my toys for tots donation the box is out.saveed myself a trip. Saving where ever I can.😊
Happy Thanksgiving. Got my FREE turkey (with purchase) and a lot of other ingredients on sale at my local H.E.B. Turkey was delicious and today I made turkey stock from the carcass, simmered low and slow. Turkey vegetable soup and turkey pot pie are in my future.
What a beautiful set table at your brothers house and what a wonderful feast . Feeling a bit jealous as we don’t have thanksgiving in Australia . You have a wonderful family Emmy .
Seeing Uncle Giuseppe’s storefront reminded me of John Viviano & Sons Grocers on The Hill in St. Louis, Mo.-and, of course, the Missouri Baking Company for amaretti and chocolate chip cannolis. Don’t have anything that good down in my part of Louisiana.
A turkey or chicken salad is a great way use up fresh Thanksgiving leftovers! Make it the following day while the meat is still moist. So many creative ways to use it in sandwiches or as the base for a meal!
I make turkey tetrazinni, turkey pot pie, creamy turkey and noodles, amd turkey wild rice soup, open faced turkey sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy.
I usually have turkey sandwiches with cheese or turkey casserole this year I had a Thanksgiving chicken with all the fixings enough for three days I'm unemployed so I'm making due with what I got my dogs enjoyed the food as well 😅
I love Uncle G’s! I usually visit at least two locations in New Jersey when I visit. 😂 Nothing better than an Italian Thanksgiving. Enjoy the rest of weekend❤
What a beautiful home your brother & his family have & the meal & leftovers meal looked lovely too - I could spend all day in Uncle Guiseppes shop especially as I saw the Baachi chocolates there 😋🥰

Hello & wishing you holiday blessing. I occasionally shop at Uncle Giuseppe’s BUT wow so expensive. However, a nice shopping experience. Enjoy.
Yes, it is pricey. It is a perfect "special occasion" store though.
We freeze the turkey to use in other meals later. We do eat some of it the following day.

You are so welcome, Kerry!
I made a turkey shepherds pie for Thanksgiving. Family loves it.
So yummy!
What a beautiful set table at your brothers house and what a wonderful feast . Feeling a bit jealous as we don’t have thanksgiving in Australia . You have a wonderful family Emmy .
We are very blessed to have each other for sure!
It's a lovely store!
A turkey or chicken salad is a great way use up fresh Thanksgiving leftovers! Make it the following day while the meat is still moist. So many creative ways to use it in sandwiches or as
the base for a meal!
Thank you. Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving x
You as well, Tracy! Thank you!
@ ❤️
I make turkey tetrazinni, turkey pot pie, creamy turkey and noodles, amd turkey wild rice soup, open faced turkey sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy.
Sounds fabulous!

Good for you! Sounds delicious!
Leftover cranberry sauce becomes cranberry orange muffins or quick bread.
Yes, so smart and delicious!
I love Uncle G’s! I usually visit at least two locations in New Jersey when I visit. 😂 Nothing better than an Italian Thanksgiving. Enjoy the rest of weekend❤
Polly, thanks so much!
I substitute oatmeal for the nuts since my late husband had a tooth problem or if there is a nut allergy in the family.
Thanks!
Great video!
Thanks so much, Theresa!
What a beautiful home your brother & his family have & the meal & leftovers meal looked lovely too - I could spend all day in Uncle Guiseppes shop especially as I saw the Baachi chocolates there 😋🥰
LOL! Bex, it's a grand store for sure!
