one of the most underrated krautrock albums
So good. Silver Cloud is perfection. Sound of nostalgia.
This is a rare thing...a perfect album...
I've never been to watch a football match, but this album made me go online and search for a vintage Dusseldorf FC shirt. I found one (1995 season), purchased it, and wear it with pride. It's thanks to Klaus Dinger (along with other groups from the city). Having said that, I love the bemused expression on people's faces when I try to explain why I'm wearing it.
They sing "DEG" Icehockey.
Immer wieder gerne...!!! I love it so much!
Ja, @@helmutdreblow2817
Thanks for posting... I remember hearing this in London 77...punk was in full effect but this and Neu! really cut the mustard....it's all in 4/4 time too👉🇬🇧👈👉😷👈👉💎👈
Everyone here is on the right track
Klaus Dinger, danke
Fabulous. Stupendous. Visionary. Forty years old and overwhelmingly dwarfing so much of the contemporary
Well put
So klingt Düsseldorf, meine Heimatstadt.
So amazing
Beautiful and crystal clear music,an absolute classic, Bye Klaus D.,danke !
Just thinking about Klaus Dinger gives me fucking goosebumps.
LOL
How can a music you've never heard before make you feel nostalgic?
Smeato maybe because 70s and early 80s white groups in the UK and US (that we are already nostalgic about) took this sound and ran with it.
Tell me about it. 🎼👌
@@davidsanderson5918 Absolutely. For instance, on the opening track you can hear early INXS, especially the song "Don't Change." I've been listening to this album for almost a decade and only just now noticed the similarity.
It has that effect on me! I've been trying to work out if i somehow heard it when i was a little kid! But loving the nostalgia vibes, brings back memories of my childhood late 70s. :-)
@@JacobVBurg Ha ha there was me saying 'US and UK bands' and you chose an Australian one!! Glad you agree though. It's bizarre that these German bands were deliberating going for their own musical language detached from the approaches of US/UK bands of the time. Then what do we do?? We copy THEM!! :)
heard the world premiere of this one in 1976,think it was on WDR, very enthusiastic review of the moderator (auf Deutsch natürlich). lived in Köln at the time and Düsseldorf was our little neighbouring city, very much nostalgia indeed….
Ja schön anzuhören🙏❤️🙏RIP Klaus RIP Thomas...
Excellent!!!
It's unbelievable that this album contains with a view words so much history of Düsseldorf. The music & sounds are extraordinary, simple but years in front.
I'll never forget when I listened to this album the first time. It was in the car of my brother in spring 1977 & it was on a way to the Düsseldorf airport. Although I wasn't already a record collector this album was under my first 20 albums & it is still one of my favourite ones!
Weapons manufacturing. Dinger getting a dig in.
Die Dingers gingen immer 😊❤
Absolute classic ❤
Bowie and Eno took note carefully of that great Krautrock band
Timeless
Einfach Klasse! Ich habe noch die LP! Immer noch Super!
Ich auch❤
Have been listening to this for A VERY LONG TIME ….BRILLIANT STUFF
It's timeless. I got into this kinda music when the death of Dieter Moebius from Cluster was announced. RIP
Great album best track 'TIME'
Excellent music. Thank you for uploading it.
UA-cam brought me here to this great album.
Land mark album of Krautrock. Pure genius.
Jinges Aerok no, you are cabbage
@@1895tuna «kraut» was used before that period.... but I agree it’s not a great term.
"The soundtrack of the eighties."

I haven't listened to this in a few years: wow! It stands up. Brilliant album

Beautiful tones and atmospherics that soothe any old and weary head, thumbs up!

Loved this album when I first heard it (and still do). Grabs the feeling of 1970's northern West Germany
pure class
greatest album
Super Album!

The first thing I noticed was the name & photo of Ken Shabby. Thanks for the out loud laugh. I certainly wouldn't want my daughter to marry one. Brand new listener to these tunes.
I had no ideal what I was in for when I clicked on this!I had heard of these guys years ago and kept putting them off thinking I wouldn't be impressed.I couldn't of been more wrong!I haven't been blown away from an album like this in years! This was fucking AMAZING!Thank you for this!

very relaxing
Knocks me on my ass each and every listen.
Beutiful from the start to the end.
So old and yet so new
Greatest album ever made
This album is pure joy. 5 years have passed and I haven't changed my opinion, doubt I ever will. Greatest album ever made

I listened to this about 10 years ago high asf on ibogaine and it changed my life forever. Desert island disc for sure!!!
To the knob who voted this down. Hope you find what you're looking for in life. Sorry you didn't find it here.
I'll find it in Düsseldorf station
Dude, there are 4 more downvoters now... get to it, you must tell them off for having different taste
I can understand people have a different taste ... But usually not why they downvote a song they don't like, rather than just skipping it.

Ausgezeichnet!
Wirklich!
Düsseldorf: Kraftwerk, Neu, La Du, DAF ... Die Musik aus D-Dorf ist einfach anders. Meine Stadt, meine Musik
ELOY? Dazumal ^^
I've heard other version's of this by the same outfit but this is the best version.
Had a vinyl copy of this in 1977 and someone in my shared accommodation put a scratch across the latter half of side one and I was so pissed off as it then clicked in the areas it wasn't supposed to click....A few months ago I ordered in a copy of this at JBHIFI and played it over and over for a week or so...Magnificent album and a worthy addition to the brilliant NEU collection.
That's interesting, the Neu! Ist I got long ago has a big long scratch on the latter part of Seite 1 also...........well at least Hallogallo escaped.
I was looking around in a charity shop in Glastonbury & in their bin full of dumped CD's was a copy of this I grabbed it for £2 RESULT!. & it plays with no cliches. Merlin in Taunton, Somerset. La Dusseldorf one of the better German band's.
Danke
Released in 1976, bought in '77...
My favourite track of this great album is Time got this album by mistake was going to send it back. glad i didnt!
Immer Wieder
Really "modern" music for 1976 ,and still is ,and don't owe nothing to english rock
richtig guter DeutschRock
Finde ich auch 👍
great album . fckn love it mr shabby
Está bueno esto!!
Der Track klingt ziemlich NEU!
Grande banda de krautrock
This La Dusseldorf writing is one of the very few tattoos I could get.
Gibt es etwas Besseres? super ihr DINGERS ♌
very very good. k.r...................................................................................
Bowie called this band "the soundtrack of the eighties." I wonder. To me it sounds like the soundtrack to a place where cars did learn to fly and jet-packs belong to the reckless, those who ride Harleys in our drab world. Where the conspicuously beautiful drive personal rockets instead of European race cars. The Future we envisioned during the years of 20th-century prosperity.
Rudy Overlord, I’ve never felt the connection with Kraftwerk that I’d hoped for and I’ve never listened to Neu! at all.
Could you suggest one or two things by Neu!/Kraftwerk to introduce a novice like myself to the genre? I want to understand why and how they affected those Bowie albums.
Thanks for your insights, they are valuable to me!
The first Kraftwerk album had Klaus Dinger on drums and some composition. Between the first and second Kraftwerk albums Michael Rother joined them on Guitar and for a while Kraftwerk were a trio of Dinger, Rother, and Florian (best heard and seen on German TV show Beat Club) so essentially at that time Kraftwerk were a three piece version of NEU! (Neu! being Dinger & Rother - although on their third album they added Thomas Dinger and Hans Lampe, both on this album). Here is the "NEU!" version of Kraftwerk - ua-cam.com/video/O8Y_-ZLGW1o/v-deo.html In later years Florian has disowned the first two Kraftwerk albums but to my mind they are by far the best, having traces of humanity.
In addition to my other comment in reply to you, a longer radio broadcast from Bremen of the 3 piece NEU!/Kraftwerk group is essential listening for that period. Personally I am a huge NEU! fan, much less so Kraftwerk, and these recordings are the only ones of Kraftwerk I enjoy, this is amazing - ua-cam.com/video/lTP-Clo62Dg/v-deo.html
tim rundall, sorry so long. Don’t TL;DR me.
(beat club) l
First comment I see says “Kraftwerk when they were still human.” Love this! Nice to see them playing instruments too.
You don’t mention Florien. Is there a reason? Bowie named an instrumental “V-2 Schneider” you know.
(radio Bremen)
Intended to just bookmark but wound up listening to a few minutes of each track. This rocks *hard.* Many comments saying that Kraftwerk was useless and this is real deal, actually NEU! + Florian guesting on flute.
----
I have to believe that Bowie was influenced by the Kraftwerk of this era c 1971. We would have said “Heavy...!” at the time, and not in the sense of metal. They rock! And I hear a lot of inventiveness that’s certainly not present in Das Model and songs of the Robotnik vintage.
Are you from or have you lived in Germany? Bremen seems to have a lot of associations with music. Radio Bremen, Beat Club, good live performances on YT for lots of American musicians...even a story from when I was young called “The Four Musicians of Bremen.” Is it the Austin of Germany or what?
Thanks much. I will devote some time to really listening to these.
@@moragmacgregor6792 I know it’s been 4 years but Kraftwerk’s «Ralf & Florian» is essential.
The opening track reminds me of Autobahn.
not surprising as the album features Autobahn producer Conny Plank and early Kraftwek drummer Klaus Dinger.
oh yes
😍👍
This is so a-NEU-ing.
yeah you're very right
Neu! drummer Klaus Dinger plays guitar (and sings)

I have publicly stated that Conny Plank Kraftwerk Neu! La Dusseldorf Can Streetmark were influencing uk punk artists who then with the advent of accesible drum machines created synthpop @smeato may say they stole the sound when in fact they all readily stated and even went and recorded with Conny Plank Eurythmics and Ultravox and Conny turned down U2 Joy Division told NME and it was the UK Press that labeled it all Kraut Rock and did not find it interesting and also did not see The Blitz Club Visage Depeche Mode etc as interesting when they were in Love with Punk . Paul Morley did a massive Uturn....
sodelicious
