    This broth will not be the best broth you ever taste. haha. You can add a lot more flavor by adding chicken bones (especially the leftovers of a rotisserie chicken) or even roasting the vegetables in the oven beforehand. Yet I like to make my broth this way, because it's quite easy and it doesn't take as long to make as other stocks. I use this broth in any recipe that calls to add stock into. An added addition is the cooked chicken breasts that I use to top salads or to make chicken salad sandwiches!
    Ingredients:
    Any Kitchen scraps (I used celery leaves, carrot tops and skins, zucchini ends, kale stems, apple core, green onion root ends, and parsley stems)
    4 pieces of chicken breast (around 3-4 pounds)
    2 carrots (no need to peel)
    1-2 ribs of celery
    1 onion (with skin on)
    peppercorns
    bay leaves
    I would appreciate a like and subscribe if you haven't already :)

    The clinking of glasses is a normal process of cooking and I didn't mind it. This made me feel like I'm actually there watching you cook as I sip on tea while having ice cream! lol Now I can make stock knowing I don't have to throw away the chicken afterwards. Thank you for another lovely video.

    For those of you that have a butcher in town, they typically sell "checking parts/backs" for literally pennies. Makes for great stock!

    Hahaha your bay leaf comment reminds me of the time my boyfriend made us a soup.,. And put like 10 bay leaves in it, called it bay leaf soup because it’s like all you could taste 😂😂 so use one or two more bay leaves than you would usual and you’ll definitely be able to taste the bay aspects more! :)

    Greetings from Lithuania! A friend of mine introduced me this channel by sending me your earl grey pie recipe, and I must say, I'm really glad that I found this niche channel. I love the cozy, casual home theme that it has, which makes your videos great to watch after a long day of studies to blow off some steam. There might be other channels like this out there, but this one's gonna be locked in my heart for a long time. Again, thank you for these videos you make. Have a good one!

    I’m helping a neighbour who had surgery. I asked her if there was anything I could cook for her. she asked for chicken broth. I imagined making something delicious like this, full of nutrients from the vegetables.
    Before I left she said she just wanted plain chicken broth with chicken, water and a bit of salt. Blech!

    oh I didn't know you could use scraps like those for broth... cool tips! I'm definitely saving my peels and cores for that before throwing them in the compost next time

    A scraps broth episode is here!!
    Thank you for making it. I feel like it was relevant to the spinach blanching water i had earlier lmao.
    Im low key worried about the dirt that gets stuck on the roots ends of green onions. But ill just have to clean well.
    Not that i tried it before, but i imagine that we could freeze our scraps until we gather enough to make this.

    • @joshuacooksthendraws
      @joshuacooksthendraws  Рік тому

      I also get concerned about the dirt so I make sure to wash and soak thoroughly! And yes, freezing your scraps is a great way to store them and build them up over time to prepare a stock :D

    what’s a great way to store all the scraps until you’re ready to make the stock? that’s where i find the most problems…

    • @joshuacooksthendraws
      @joshuacooksthendraws  Рік тому +3

      If youre planning on using them soon, just in the fridge. But besides that, you can freeze your scraps in the freezer.

    You probably don't taste much of the bay leaf because store-bought tend to be pretty old. We have a few bay trees in our farmstead and we pick the leaves fresh, the taste can be so strong we use about half as much as recipes say to not overpower the dish. If you can find fresh bay leaves and use these, you'll def taste the difference! My entire family are farmers and we live on our own farm so all of our food is fresh and it's made me into a food snob I swear. But seriously, as much as you can, try foraging for stuff if you have access to nature!
