The beginning of Marvel's golden age on film with the first character of the comics to have a box-office smash. Also the first, real kick-a** Vampire movie. From the darkside of the comics, inspired by blaxploitation films (a la' Shaft & Blacula) and debuting 50 years ago in 'The Tomb of Dracula' comics as one of Drac's many foes. Following his first mainstream appearances on Spider-Man:The Animated Series (1994-1998). This was the 2nd Rated-R movie for a Marvel character after The Punisher (1989). Prior to being casted as Blade, Wesley Snipes as actor/producer was involved with developing Black Panther (at the time, a Sony property). Frustrated with how to make BP, he received the BLADE script and said yes to it. Snipes had never known that Blade or Black Panther were both from Marvel. The blending of everything in this film is phenomenal. The soundtrack from TVT records is fire and the PS video game from 2000 was cool too. The Blade trilogy was written by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel,The Dark Knight Trilogy). Part 2 (2002) is great and Part 3 (2004) is very controversial. But hey, at least he's still British in the comics.
19:10 _This young girl is a real martial artist. She was trained by Billy Blanks, she’s one a number of tournaments and I got to spar with her back in 99_
I want Snipes to come back and do another Blade movie. I'm not even into Vampire stuff, but I love the Blade movies. This is a comic book movie done right.
I really like these cold opens you’re doing as opposed to the “today we’re gonna watch” thing. Straight to it 🤟🏾
It’s amazing to see people see blade for the first time
Hey fun fact in the alternative ending Morbius from the Spider-Man comics makes a cameo when he was standing on a rooftop watching Blade and Karen then Blade said "dammit"
I love how pretty much everyone reacts the same way to the intro club music😂😂 like you can’t help but to dance lol
NO! IT HAS TO BE RATED R! :)
💯
I Love When This Dude Put His Self In The Movie Lol 'YEAAAAAA' Had Me Turnt For A Minute😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣”the baby looks burnt “…damn, don’t do Wesley like that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣great reaction
That techno still absolutely slaps🔥🔥🔥
I saw this film in the theater. It was a good experience. Great reaction Mello! 👍🏿
Wesley Snipes is a martial artist, and that's why the fight scenes look so good and fun. I miss his movies!
Wesley and Van Damme are two of my favorite martial artist actors 😎💯
At 17:24 you can see the little girl watching 1995 Mortal Kombat on the tv. Specifically the scene is Reptile merging with the statue to turn into his human form. This is always my favorite easter egg of cinema
this one is iconic, but the second one is my fave of the trilogy! you’re gonna love that one
Give the Star Trek franchise a chance. Please. 🖖
Mel: "And he's not even a pure blood and he's talking to y'all like this? It's disrespectful!"
Mel being the Slytherin that he is. 🐍
My dad had the blade soundtrack on cassette. We were raving to the soundtrack in the house all the time 🤣
The female vampire who took the guy to the rave...was played by Traci Lords. She's famous ( or infamous) for nearly destroying the adult film industry, by making a lot of movies before she turned 18.
Fun Fact : The Girl with the Guy in the car at the beginning was Tracy Lords an adult Film star from the mid eighties.
Blade was John Wick before John Wick.... a man of focus, commitment, sheer will
Absolute classic, watched this dozens of times when I was a teen. Blade mouthing "wtf" is golden
It always annoys me when people refer to Black Panther as the first black superhero movie as if Snipes didn't have a trilogy of films over a decade earlier. Without Blade, the MCU may have never existed.
the soundtrack alone was FYREEEE asf, yesssss
I love this movie Wesley snipes was the only dude that could have played Blade in the 90s,he is actually a black belt inthe martial arts and that really was him doing his stunts, this was the movie that saved marvel from going bankrupt. Great reaction mell.keep up the good work. I have never read the blade comics, I introduced my nephew to the blade movies in 2010he was a preteen and I being the cool aunt that I am was trying to introduce him to some movies i loI loved this and old krate movies became our thing and we still watch them together. that he and I could bond over and had the DVD set the time,he got so hooked on this movie he would watch it daily, when they moved to a new apt my nephew took my DVD set and told my mom and sister it was his that I gave it to him.he later gave me the matrix DVD sets in return. I say we both made out I. That deal. Miracles and blessings to you and yours ✌️ ❤🙏.
DAMN dude that was Brenda Song I just checked her wiki she was uncredited as 'hostage child' in blade
37:47 “So much for being the blood god. That was ea- wait what?”
That face change man
I fucking love this movie. Watching this in the theater opening night with other Goths and Blade fans was epic. This soundtrack was and still is everything.
One of the rare occasions when the 2nd one triumphs over the 1st movie ! Glad to see you finally checking them out gang 👌🏽
One thing I appreciate is that Blade and the Doctor didn't become a couple at the end. It happens so often in all other films
8:24 _Homie got interactive reviews😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. This is off the hook. We need more of this._
"Blood rave" (or "confusion") has always been an absolute classic banger.
17:58 No lol. Pearl is an original character for the movie. However, I heard in the Marvel comics, there was a universe where some of the heroes and villians in the world became vampires, and Kingpin had Pearl's design.
When u dislocate a bone and it gets popped back into place, it is the biggest relief. Ur lucky it never happened to u. It is so real how u feel immediately. Never question that again
I saw this when it came out back in '98 and to this day, I still frequently use "Ice Skating Uphill" to describe anything needlesly difficult 😂
"...he did it because of a damned computer."
So many people failed to recognize the damn Super Computer mainframe towers setup behind the glass.
Blade was one of the movies that was taking inspiration from The Crow. Give that a gander if you haven't seen it.
This movie is 400% compatible with Mellverse - i can't belive he hasn't seen 'Blade' before!
Great reaction like always 🤘
That nightclub scene may be my favorite intro to any movie ever. blade is the most fun vampire film of all time to me, Mel. You'll enjoy it EVEN more on future rewatches. It really is a classic. Wesley Snipes will always be Blade to me
It's the dancing moves that keep me coming back here! 🤘🤘
''Some motherf**kers are always trying to iceskate uphill.'' My favorite ''before the kill'' line ever!
6:02 😂😂 I did not see that coming man. Bravo
25:46 The sunscreen is helping him temporarily. Its the weird part of the movie we barely think about lol
The rave theme is still a bop so many years later.
At the end of the day, it's nice to see more of this movie be really loved and appreciated as it deserves.
