The grass in a semi circle around where the dog pees is looks lush and healthy cos its getting more Nitrogen than the surrounding grass from the pee, the bare patch is getting too much and burning
Looking good. Getting confused with timelines as you’ve already posted the videos with the new hedge and flowers. I’ve been looking at agricultural gypsum and thinking of regular low doses as a soil improver and to help with my clay soil. Can get big bags from amazon relatively cheap.
Cheers 👍🏻 I've posted loads over the past week. Had too many videos building up, so had a mad 7 days if editing to get caught up 😅 I've heard that you need to put a fair bit down for an impact, but that it does do a decent job.
Just subscribed and although there are loads of UA-camrs doing what you do, love ya scouse presenting style 👍🏼 I have loads of initial questions and hope you can help: - I use a Ryobi lawn mower but always see people using Hayter. Definately worth changing to a Hayter? My ryobi doesn’t give me any stripes which is one good to reason to change. - 2nd question, it would be great to do one video ( unless I’ve missed it, in a sitting down and chatting and running though, in order what you should be doing. I know you mentioned about not necessarily by month as weather changes will dictate what to do when but that would be mega useful 👍🏼
Cheers mate 👍🏻 If you want stripes, any lawn with a rear roller will do. Bosch Rotak is cheaper than a Hayter, but a Hayter will get a more defined stripe (not £300 more of a stripe though). If the budget stretches to a Hayter, you won't regret it. But there's nothing wrong with a Bosch Rotak. I've used mine every week for about 2 years and it's still boss! With your second question, I'll try and put something together in the next few weeks as it might help a few 👍🏻 Cheers for the idea
Probably a doulble hit with the bare patches? The dog pee, and when it rains, the drips from the bush moving the seed away to the edge, hence the thinker grass there? Looking good pal.
I absolutely love my Einhell tools and equipment. They do some really solid products at reasonable prices. It's a shame their lawn mowers don't have rear rollers, otherwise I'd get one from Einhell.
He's using that 'truegrass' which I believe is an organic fertiliser. As far as I'm aware they start working once soil temps are within a certain threshold. With all the rain & wind it may not even be fully working. I have sandy soil (according to the old jar test) & the slow rls ICL fertiliser (15-6-15) I bought to use this season has seen the initial flush leach through the soil (with all the rain). I applied a light dose (approx. 6-8%) of ammonium sulphate (diluted & sprayed) the other day & overnight it greened up & started growing quicker. I feel I need to supplement granular fertilisers due to the nature of the soil the lawn is growing in.
The True Grass feed is more of a soil conditioner. The NPK is quite low compared to a lot of other fertilisers out there. Once the lawn matures, I'll be reducing how much I'm applying dramatically. I wouldn't be apply a high NPK fertiliser at the same rate.
Very nice. I started my reno today but finding it hard to install my stepping stones not sure if there too high iv got a granule wetting agent to put down
@@NoviceGardener I think the same theory applies though. Organic granules break down with the soil bacteria which requires certain soil temps. My soil is so sandy I have to spoon feed Ammonium sulphate every few weeks to top up the nitrogen. I'm not sure how an organic feed would pan out. Not using high nitrogen might be the perfect solution with the dogs weeing on it though! What will you re-seed the patches with if it starts to happen? Have you got seeds matching the upper turf type? (I know you seeded the bottom yourself (which is looking great btw).
True Grass. You're safe using something like it as it's a soil conditioner so the NPK is quite low. You'll want to feed a fair bit early doors so that the plant can mature quickly. Once it's established, you can pull back on the frequency of feeding.
Any recommendations how much to water after feeding? I always run 2-3 times usual dose of sprinklers(normally this program run every 3 days). After your video today I have a feeling that my feed is going to deep to the ground because of that.
With the True Grass I've put down, you don't need to water it in. I just leave it and let it do its thing. To be honest, I do the same thing with other fertilisers too, unless we're in a dry spell. You don't want to water too much as it will wash a lot of the fertiliser through the soil.
i get A1 seeds and i have had exact same with weeds, like a tall clover type thing that is quite easily picked fully out, defo has to be weed seed in the mix. maybe not the best quality?
I never knew any different until using this seed and it's made me realise how many weed seeds are in there. Also, the sward of this new lawn is much thicker which is probably out competing a lot of weeds that are trying to get through.
I've used the Webb a few times, but find it quite fiddly trying to get the height setting right. Will try and get it set to 20mm as then can use that on the space too.
I'm looking for a cordless lawn mower. Thought I'd look up the one you use. Jesus. I'm not getting one of them😅 way to pricey. Do you have any opinions on any other that's not so expensive? Only got a small lawn that I've just reseeded. Love your channel by the way. Made me think I could do it. Thanks
And also. I thought I had to wait a couple of days to put the feed on after a cut. Or is it just the one with the weed killer in it? I use the 4 in 1 evergreen.
If your looking for a budget battery mower I use a spear and jackson battery mower, had it 2 years and its been great, plenty of run time in the battery and ideal for the average back garden, and has a rear roller which stripes really well
Looking good, nice to see the doggo checking it out too
Love the cameo from your dog! 😂♥️
I used to let him out when I cut the grass as he'd just follow, until one day when he went absolutely agadoo! 🤣

Definitely. I'm just leaving it for now. It will eventually fill in. Don't want to whack anymore seed down as he'll just kill it again 😅

Grass is looking absolutely boss!!!
Have you used your Allett mower yet mate?
Used it for a week and a half now. It's boss!
You're right about A1's seed, I've been using prem pro every year for about 5 years now and it always comes with a fucking ton of weeds.
I try to pick them out, but you can never get them all!

Damn that lawn has taken so long to grow
Bent fescue lawns will always take longer than rye, but should hopefully have longer term benefits.
Your on more than Bradley Walsh lad
🤣

That's exactly what I thought.
Looking good. 👍👏
Cheers mate 👍🏻
You could use the black side guard on the einhell spreader so it won’t put the product past the edges
Great shout - still learning with it 👍🏻
How have the land drains worked so far?
Great so far, but I guess the real test will be winter

I don't know why a lot of brands don't include rollers as they must be relatively cheap to add.
Isn't it overkill feeding a lawn twice in 7 days. Thought it was every 3 months
its is yes, but he is a NoviceGardener. Plus its a granular fert, so the rain he mentioned 'washing' into the soil is a good thing...

The seeded lawn, will out last the turfed lawn.
Don't over feed it,it needs to get its roots down, make it struggle.❤
The feed isn't too high in nitrogen. It's a soil conditioner. It's great for newly seeded spaces as it helps with nutrient content in the soil.

Would you not consider assigning the Webb to the BentFescue -
Something a little different?
I've used the Webb a few times, but find it quite fiddly trying to get the height setting right. Will try and get it set to 20mm as then can use that on the space too.
Can you say the date when you start each recording so we get a better idea of the timeline and what the weather was like around then?
weve only had about 2 days where the weather was good, so it must have been one of those 😂
Everything in the videos is weekend stuff. I know the stag do was the 25th May and then the other footage is from the weekend after that.
🤣

Titan from screwfix,good mowers,if your lawn,is'nt massive.
Thank you for the helpful tips.I will be definitely looking these up. Thanks again
Can you put topsoil on exisiting grass and seed ontop ?
You can, but just make sure the existing grass can stick through.
@@NoviceGardener I've completely covered it with soil from another part of the garden I've dug up!
What’s everyone’s start time for lawn care at the weekend I’m 9am fair game ?
9am is what I go for, but sometimes I go with 10am to be safe 😅
