thanks so much for doing this . I like your reviews because you show and discuss any problems you may have in building every kit. you must have a big collection of models
RW, That's our reason to review a kit is to pass on the kits worthiness and help folks avoid trouble spots. Actually though, I don't have many - most are given away to youngsters! -Doug
Do any of you know if this kit is still available in the US? It doesn't seem to be on Revell's site, and I've only been able to find it in the UK for a heafty sum.
I love this build. I've got this exact kit, that I also plan on turning into B.J. & The Bear version. However, I also bought one of the other Revell K100 Aerodyne kits, which I'll be starting on soon. I noticed at the beginning of the video, where you've got the model revolving, that there's a pretty noticeable gap between the tops of the doors and the Aerodyne roof cap. Did you ever figure out what caused this? I'd really like to avoid this problem if possible. Thanks!
JJ, Good question, the answer is lack of test fitting. It was assumed that the doors would fit properly but they did not. To resolve the issue test fit those doors before the glue goes on and make any needed adjustments for a good fit! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug
a p.s to your built- the "antenna" behind the cab and mounted to the frame is called a pogo stick and its use is to hang the air brake hoses and electrical cord so they don't get tangled up while the truck makes turns.
Hi, my name is Malcolm, and I have a question for you.. question is, How can I make a 1/25 scale tri - axle lowboy trailer WIDER to about 110mm to 120mm wide, and LONGER by making it a 4 axle trailer.. If you have any ideas for me that would be greatly appreciated, cheers malcolm.
Malcolm, The short answer is - use two identical kits and cut the center sections out of one to get the dimensions you want for the larger one. Cut the one you want larger in the middle in both directions and add/glue those center sections to the recipient model. Use an axle/wheel set from the donor kit for the forth set and add a section to the center of each axle shaft to widen those the same amount and add longer axles. Reinforce the joins with sheet stock. PS, please help us reach more modelers by subscribing if you haven't done so already. -Doug
I love your work!! I don't want to sound like a negative Nancy. Just a little helpful information. I know colors are all creative license per builder. The engine block has 3 valve cover. That will be modeled after a Caterpillar engine. Those engines are actually caterpillar yellow from the factory.
Doug, do you know If the decals you used also make a set for the Friedenfels show truck? I need a new set of decals for the model but have been unable to find any. TY for any help.
I'm glad I discovered your channel on my feed. For what seems like it would take me two months to build a model like this, you make it look easy and do it in hours. How much do you wrap up cost wise in doing a kit like this? I want to start building models again but I have a very limited income. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and keep making great videos.
Turbo, Thanks and A kit like this one takes about 16 hours of work. Costs are rising but bargains are still to be found. AMT has been marketing semi cabs through Hobby Lobby and with their weekly discount coupon they can be had for around $30. Look for sales on spray paint and with a few accent paint bottles and a tube of glue you can get back into the hobby for very little.
would love to see some user submitted versions of this... i am doing this now, but going down the road of weathering it... had trouble with the gas tanks not fitting, sigh... taking 3 weeks, still building the frame, the painting and weathering is tedious... one deviation we did, was to cut the rear fenders, after looking at some of BJ's trucks on line, we noticed they didn't cover the tires, unless my old eyes deceive me lol
very nice been waiting for amt to rerelease bj bear truck this way better ordered up some of those decals $10 not bad look like there good quality were they easy to work with thanx Tim
The decals are quite east to work But being Aftermarket they are FULL SHEET carrier and mist be cut close. Otherwise Modeltruckin decals are TOP NOTCH. I Used them on a few builds including this review and they are my GO -TO rig company.
TWM, Nope, I haven't built that one but I'll have to decline as I have 16 models and reviews already in the queue and it will take months to get to a new addition but thanks for the offer! -Doug
thanks for doing this i done the modes trailer. u done i aslso did b j. paint job was waiting. to see how u got itto gether i put a v8 Detroit. in mine with straight pipes an leds light. the old saying. chicken lights an chrome it will be at my next modle meeting my wife. did the mack u did a while back thanks an keep on trucking your friend eddie
the only bad spot is the finger print smug on one of the upper windows, other that your where right about the decals covering up the bleed through of the paint
Excellent work on this model! i've got mine, so I'd like to ask you can you tell me the correct RED color of Revell line paints for this? maybe number 31, 32?? there are so different red color,, i don't know what it's the correct before to buy. Thanks.
Damn mine looks like crap compared to this one but not bad for only being 14 and these videos make me relize i need to put more effort into my kits and more details and to take my time

Where do you get your custom decals and parts?
BD, Decals and aftermarket parts mostly come from online sources. The decals for this build came from "Modeltruckin's" website! -Doug
Same kit AMT put out years ago? Nice build.
CS, Yes it is! -Doug
Doug, do you know If the decals you used also make a set for the Friedenfels show truck? I need a new set of decals for the model but have been unable to find any. TY for any help.
WH, I didn't notice but check with their website to be sure! -Doug

Door hinges on these Revell kits are very fragile - I cut of the peg and hotmelt a metal peg in the hinge and trim to size.
F, that's a good tip! -Doug
It looks like you had fit issues with mounting the cab to the frame I have that kit but never built it
WF, Yes, You will need to do some mock-ups to clear the stacks too! -Doug
the only bad spot is the finger print smug on one of the upper windows, other that your where right about the decals covering up the bleed through of the paint
RW, Thanks Roger and those smudges will come off after assembly with a soft cloth! -Doug
That was actually just Elmers Glue I forgot to clean off...
Ok, thats fine also what country are you from?

Oh, thanks for the info! I didn't know that name, I'll check it!!
PL, Hope it helps! -Doug

do you get paid to review and build these kit's
RW, I wish! It costs me money to buy and ship models for review! I do it to promote the hobby. -Doug
I don't see many of the real cabover semis around anymore.
KR, Sad but true! -Doug
Thats not called antena base thats the base to the pogo stick.
