Two other guitarists who followed their own path were Sonny Sharrock and Sonny Greenwich. Sharrock was one of two guitarists on Miles Davis’ A Tribute to Jack Johnson (the other being John McLaughlin). Sharrock had made records before that with Pharoah Sanders, Don Cherry and Wayne Shorter. He’s also on several Herbie Mann records. Sonny Greenwich was a Canadian guitarist who very much went his own way. He played with John Handy, Wayne Shorter, and Charles Lloyd.
Have you heard of the jazz guitarist Julian Lange? What are your thoughts on musicians like Kamasi Washington? (not a guitarist but still a jazz musician)

Hey Ken, I am familiar with Julian. He was in Gary Burton's group for awhile. And Kamasi sounds good. I can hear Coltrane in his playing.
