But the front office was detached from the actual student building, and you could jump a 7 foot fence to get in... Or go in through the unlocked back gate. Point is, they spent $7 million to protect nobody, instead of $50k a year for a guard.

in ontario we have drills for dangerous people in the school where people sit away from the doors and windows and lock class doors. as frequently as fire drills lockdown drills
The average police officers salary is $61,000 a year. If there were state/federal funding to have one officer per 500 students at a school then the costs wouldn't be *that* high. Especially considering most high schools already have security teams.
If an armed guard at a school does this during a shooting (runs away, doesn't help) not only should they be fired and maybe charged, but they should be in debt for every check they collected "protecting" that school.

After listening to a bunch of other podcasts then PKA I'm realizing how bad the audio quality is. I'm guessing it actually would be good but it's because they take the audio from Skype? Most podcasts I listen to I know record everyone separately then combine the tracks. I think that could be hard to do though for PKA considering there's a video to stay in sync with, you'd have to deal with drift, etc.

Overall audio seemed slightly quiet and woody in particular seems to get even more quiet throughout the episode. I think the problem is that woody doesn't keep a consistent speaking volume throughout the whole thing. He speaks at full volume at sound check but talks more quiet as the call goes on.
One of the biggest issues with arming the teachers is for SWAT teams entering the school being able to differ a teacher with a gun vs an active shooter. There is a possibility where the armed teacher trying to stop the actual shooter gets killed by SWAT instead.
