  • Just a quick test video to show off a modified SPAS-12 I worked on last year.
I gutted a cheap SPAS-12 tri-shot, and installed the guts from a 1990'2 Maruzen Micro Uzi.
The Micro Uzi uses what is called a "Bullet Valve" type of engine. The BB itself is part of the pressurizing and launching mechanism.
These "BV" engines are super simple and only consist of a few tubes and springs. The entire system becomes pressurized when firing. Basically, when you pull the trigger you are simply allowing pressurized air into the system via a simple valve. From there a spring, O-ring, BB and reciprocating tube load & shoot each shot.
Using a 3D printer I replaced the interior of the SPAS-12 with a big blank "slug" that fit inside. Then, I 3D modeled the UZI's BV components and made areas in the slug to fit them. One challenge is that as mentioned above the WHOLE system becomes pressurized when firing, even the magazine! Because of this I had to make each shell AIR TIGHT and able to hold 100+ psi. Then, the BB feed area needed to be sealed as well using a gasket.
Overall a fun project, but for the most part not very useful! Basically just an UZI inside the shell of a SPAS!
