    I have lived in Lethbridge for 44 years (born and raised) and not that I want more people moving here but I have a few extra things that are awesome about it:
    1 - He touched on it here just a little but as my name implies I love to run and we have THE BEST trail system of any city I have ever been too and the best part is they are literally right in the smack dab middle of our city. You can get to trails from the west side, north side (Pavan Park is amazing) and these are seriously world class running trails. The trails up by the college....oh my goodness. I have been running these coulees for 25 years and I'm still finding new trails.
    2 - This is a bit of a sub category of number 1 but wildlife. When I go running first of all it's like my own private trails because very few people use them but the wildlife is crazy. Tons of dear, porcupines, coyotes, rabbits, snakes, the list goes on and on.
    3 - It's a big city in a small package. By this I mean we have everything a city like Calgary has but from one end of the city to the other is 15 minutes max. I joke with my colleagues in Vancouver that my daily commute to work is either 11 or 12 minutes depending on if I hit "the light".
    4 - It's cheap. I have no idea how people live in large cities. We get paid the same here and it's half the price. Enough said.
    5 - Like he said in this video we are so close to everything. An hour from the mountains, an hour from many lakes, etc. etc.
    6 - Everything Retail (Costco, Walmart, Superstore, Homesense, etc. etc.) is all heavily congested down at the south end. I love this because so long as I stay out of that area of the city it's like I live in a small town. When I want to go "full shopping" I can head down there and get into it but 90% of the time I leave that area of the city for my wife:)
    7 - We know what we have here and we don't brag about it. I'm actually breaking the unwritten rule by writing this:)
    8 - We have an amazing YMCA leisure center on the west side of the city. Wave pool, waterslides, climbing wall (in the pool) diving board, certain nights of the week they have this big blow up thing in the pool, huge gym, kids play area, rinks, etc. etc. We live right by it so maybe I'm a bit bias but it's brand new and way too much fun for our family.
    OK but there has to be some negatives right...and there are a few:
    1 - It can get a bit windy in the spring. This is also a bit of a positive as it's what delivers are great climate and very little snow (that stays) but if you are not used to the wind it can throw you a bit at first. It dies right down by summer though so it's not a big deal. On a positive note I once read that we have the 9th best wind surfing in the world out at Keho Lake (20 minutes away). So if you like kite or windsurfing this could be the place for you:)
    2 - We don't have many of the big name chain restaurants. We don't have Red Lobster or a chilies, or anything like that. Not sure why the big chains haven't come here yet but I'm sure they will soon. We do have a Keg though....so at least we have that:)
    3 - It's not the best city (but where is?) for biking for your commute. It's not horrible but it could certainly be better.
    Note- You may read that we have a bit of a crime problem here but what city doesn't and it certainly hasn't effected me to this point (I hope I didn't just jinx myself).
    Overall I wouldn't hesitate to move here. I was raised here and I'm currently raising my two kids here and I love it. Some day if my kids bail we will probably follow them but otherwise I will die here:)

    I have read about the crime. I am relocating to Alberta from Kanata, a suburb of Ottawa. I am not " woke " and more conservative in view points. I hear political news all the time and people know people " on the Hill " so you find out even how more corrupt and wasteful our government is. I am wondering if there are areas of Lethbridge that are not the best to live in. I am looking to buy . How good is the public transit ?

      Hey Bonny, It might be best to send me an e mail kurtis@reoneteam.ca or you can give me a call 403-892-6991. Basically, every neighbourhood in Lethbridge is fairly similar, but there are some areas near the core/northside that are less desirable. send me a message and we can chat more.

    I used to live in Lethbridge and we are thinking of moving back to here or Calgary....but why are the house taxes so expensive in Lethbridge?

    • @kurtishawkins
      @kurtishawkins  Рік тому +1

      Compared to other cities, we have much less density and cheaper houses. So percentage wise, taxes to have to be higher

    Nice content. How is the rental market in Lethbridge ? Can we expect break even for the monthly mortgage !

    • @kurtishawkins
      @kurtishawkins  Рік тому

      Absolutely, break even is pretty easy to find. But can be difficult to turn a profit right now with interest rates

    We are planning to move down there in Lethbridge but I still having a second thought if is it the best decesion that I ever make and it wouldn't me make regret in the longrun because I live here in Ontario Toronto to be specific. Because one of the PRO's that I saw in Lethbridge is the housing prices is way better compared here in Ontario. How about the criteria for an employment or job status there, is it good or bad?

    • @kurtishawkins
      @kurtishawkins  Рік тому +1

      Yes it is! I am making a video about Lethbridge myths lol the crime rate is high, mostly from petty crimes. I found an article from the police chief that states the the crime rate vs how safe a city isn’t correlated. Lethbridge is super safe
