    Great job Tracy! That's a fantastic day of bass fishing with artificial lures.......in anyone's book. I can't recall ever catching the same bass twice in the same outing. ( I've caught 2 bass at the same time on the same lure several times over the years, and jack crevalle in salt water too. ) But I have caught bass that had someone else's hook & broken line still in their mouth a few times. Most of those fish were gut hooked, and the fish were fat, healthy and eager to bite.....again, lol. None of those were hooked on the same day though. Caught a couple like that, where the previous hook was rusted down to a nub, and I was able to pull it right out with a slight tug. There is the popular story, witnessed by several other boats/anglers some years ago in the south end of Farm 13. The late guide, Hugh Crumpler, had a client catch a huge bass just shy of 13 lbs on a live shiner. Of course they weighed, measured, snapped a few pictures & released it, and caught that same fish again, within a half hour or so in the same area. They decided to move to a different spot after that.....lol. ( Almost seemed like "they were disappointed" to catch the same giant bass twice in a row......lol. )

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  5 років тому +1

      Thanks Steve. The funny thing is.... my hook was not in the fishes mouth. The other end of the broken fishing line was. Just bizarre. But I'm SO happy I got a second chance.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 5 років тому

      @@OldLadyAngler Yeah, I noticed in the video that the hook was dangling in mid air. Did ya happen to notice if the line passed through its gill opening? Sometimes when they break the line like that, the line itself can be sucked in and expelled through their gill, and maybe if they are able to get the hook loose, the line is still running in their mouth & out the gill. Just a wild guess. I've read that somewhere. Either way, that is odd.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  5 років тому

      @@howabouthetruth2157 you know what.... I bet you're right. That makes sense. I couldn't see exactly where it was coming from... but it definitely was attached to the fish somehow.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 5 років тому

      @@OldLadyAngler May be. Unless that braid was stuck in those brushy, rough teeth? Seems like the line sucked in through the gills would be more likely though. Hey, maybe he was using your line to floss his teeth? ;o) (Yeah I know, I'm such a goof, lol. )

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  5 років тому

      It is massive. In total, 10,000 acres. But we're only allowed to fish about half of it. The deepest areas are in the main canals and I've seen depths of up to 13 feet. There are also ditches that are 4 to 6 feet deep. I think the rest of the reservoir is probably 1 to 4 feet deep. I use 15 # braid on my spinning rods and 20 & 50 # on my baitcasters.

    Great video, that was a big fish after losing it earlier. Fishing from Shore I once caught a bass, while pulling it out of the water my line brakes and the fish swims off with my super fluke and my new hook I just bought. (You know how expensive good hooks are). I took a cast to the exact same spot, caught the same fish and got my fluke back. 17 days and counting. Can't wait to come to Florida. Hey OLA, do you always go down to the southern end of fellsmere or are there equally productive areas that you have fished. Heading out there on the 12th or 13th and I struggled there last month. It was the same day that you didn't do well. Thanks

      I usually hit that west canal (just south of the indian mound). That's where I caught that PB and several other giants. I'll venture east if I don't get bites there. Most days are good but as you experienced.... there are tough days.

      Hey John, I have a 30 year old Bass Tracker Pan Fisher with no outboard motor, but it does have a foot-controlled trolling motor. I use it to fish farm ponds in South Georgia. I also have a 4-wheel drive to get me back to those ponds. I was thinking I could use this to fish Fellsmere Reservoir. What do you think? brianbickhaus@gmail.com

      Trolling motors are not allowed at Fellsmere. Paddle craft only.... until the boat ramp opens up.
