- Took a late afternoon trip into the southern lagoon this week, after waiting for morning rains to blow through. Once the weather cleared I found numerous redfish, gator trout and a few black drum holding in semi-clear water, but seeing them versus catching them were very different challenges.

Great video! Awesome that they’re using you to voice the issues and such out there
Thanks! Yes, it was humbling to hear that they're aware of my channel and watch regularly. I'm also one of the very few who reports on the lagoon regularly, instead of travelling all over.
Thank for the video! My wife and I are traveling there for the first time next weekend and are excited to explore the fishery. We're bringing our restored 2002 Mitzi 15.
Best of luck! You shouldn’t have any trouble in the Mitzi, but keep your eyes on the water. There are a few sandbars and oyster beds that can sneak up on you.
There's hope to get nice size speckled trout for late starters. You have to respect Jeff coming out in a Gheenoe LT25 with 25+mph winds which is heroic. You have my respect. 👍
Desperate times. It's been a tough winter. But, it is nice to see those big trout coming back. I've been seeing them the last few trips but they haven't been taking lures much.
I can't believe you caught that big trout so close to the boat. Awesome!
It's crazy how that works, isn't it? One day they're too scared to even let you get within casting distance, then next you're right on top of them. I can tell you I've had redfish swim up to the boat and nose around a running trolling motor before. Also, my personal best trout trout ever, 31", struck a topwater so close to the boat I got splashed by the strike and the 6' leader was partially in the guides.
Thanks for the video Jeff, always look forward to seeing them…..springtime is a great time for those breeders but it’s hard to get a day without being a blowout. I’ll refer a friend in Texas to subscribe to help get you over the line.
Thank you Mike!
Another nice day on the water, like yourself I keep looking for a day I have off with low wind, but I can't seem to get the two to line up. lol 😆 Two really solid fish on the day out, hopefully the winter winds will start laying down a bit. Keep the great content coming!!!
Thank you! Not one of my favorite winters, that's for sure.
I just discovered your channel. I look forward to some great content. Please report on The Lagoon. Would be great to hear it's getting healthier.
I was on Jesup on Saturday. Windy as heck.
Sunday was unreal. Was gonna go out on the St. Johns got to the ramp and the river was flowing like the Mississippi. I went home.
Thanks for watching! 99% of what I do are lagoon reports, so stay tuned.
you got guts it blew so hard that day forget about it
You know what they say about the difference between being brave or stupid...it's basically the same thing!
Wish I could subscribe again to help push you over the edge. Nice looking trout!
Thanks Chris!
I hope this puts you over the edge my friend :)
I assume you mean the edge of a cliff? LOL
Getting back out there soon Big Jeff!🙌🏼
Sitting in front of 3 computer screens wishing I was out, Nice fish Jeff!!
Me too brother, me too
Thanks for this one Jeff. While you were there I was throwing UL on the St Johns with good success. Windy days are too noisy in my tin boat. Glad to see you connect with a couple of good fish. We always would like more but those made the day good and you left with a smile. Mission accomplished. Hope the TM isn’t too bad and you’re back out soon….Tim
Crappie or bass? Waiting on parts for the TM currently. Hopefully running before the weekend.
congrats on the 2k!
Thank you!!
Visiting there April 21st - 26 . Never have been there t
