So sorry you got yelled at 😟 farmers do have trouble with having their crops trampled, but that’s no reason for him to have such a hissy fit! Maybe he’ll wise up and place a proper sign that leads to the correct direction. I have found that since the pandemic, people are more angry than usual. Anybody else observed this side affect?

    • @geniemichel4245

Yes, the pandemic has affected society in numerous ways, especially seen in a rise in mental health issues. Crime rates are soaring in the US….. random acts of violence, riots, assault and battery, murder, domestic abuse, hate crimes, etc.

Well done for keeping off the crops and flashing their photos all over the internet is not nice, very rude. How would you feel if you had people just wander through your property? He probably thought there would be more horses coming through too and not all are as careful as you with keeping off the crops, horses can carry dirt and mud that may have diseases off other properties too so please make sure you get whoever is in charge of marking trails to get proper signals up.

His attitude suggested he was a bit fed up perhaps of riders going the wrong way, but as you say a sign would have solved the problem or even a sign positioned that you more clearly see directing you left when you came up the path. Well, I assume you got home bc you posted this. 🤔😊 And you are correct, there were no visible directions for the bridleway. You handled yourself magnificently. The lady was sweet, the man belligerent. I bet she has smoothed the waters more than once in their marriage! If the gentleman (and I use the term hesistantly) was so upset about people riding through his crops and by his horses, then it behooves him to put up large signs and arrows. I could tell you were flustered, it ruined what had been a pleasant ride. I'm so sorry. ❤ love to all.

Most importantly...there was NO posting anywhere to show you were on "Private Property"..so his upset was nonsensical...POST your properties boundaries if you don't want trespassers!

I think they purposely make the signs obscured in the hope that fewer people will use them. Those farmers are internationally famous now lol. Well done for staying so calm

Oh Tara! What a dreadful man! You explained what happened and there were no signs. You didn’t hurt his fields either.
I’m glad you had it all in video! Wouldn’t he be surprised what the whole world thinks of him!!
How many times do you have to apologize?
Oh my! I hate that it happened to you and sweet Farouk!!
    His attitude is abhorrent!
You handled it well! Stay strong!
Much love to you from Pennsylvania in USA!👍😘💕

Way to go Tara. I’m sure the man feels 2 feet high. You held your ground, made your point, kept your cool and minded your manners very well. So tempting to react 🤬 and regret it. No regrets for staying on the high road.😇 Well done and his lovely wife probably gave him more of an earful on the ride home. 😂I was so relieved when you were able to mount and go on your way. 💕

We were all along for this ride and saw how confusing it was. (Maybe he would like to watch your post from 2 days ago 😬). That tiny sign was impossible to see. He was looking for an argument and to call you a liar without listening to you was awful. You handled it very well and thank goodness for his wife!

These situations really are upsetting. I gave been in exactly the same position except the farm I was riding through had a couple of very nasty dogs roaming around! Luckily my horse was not to bothered by the dogs but the farmer was far from polite!
I think when there are no signs its just a way of making access more difficult.
Well handled though. You had your map and I think the wife realized you had done everything possible to find the correct route and not trampled crops.
    Deep breath and relax. 😌

I’ll never abide people who’s default is anger and screaming, regardless of their justification. What about, “Are you lost, can I help?” when he clearly knows you are! And will they take any steps to make sure there’s better signage? I’m skeptical. Handled as best could be, Tara. I’m glad his spouse was there so more reasonable communication could occur.

Imagine that the ol fella would have a heart attack! Well done Tara you handle that so well! 👌

If you had a herd of cows that broke out and caused huge stress and worry because of a similar so called little mistake you may understand a little better why a farmer gets angry with strangers riding around their fields when they don’t have rights of way on them…..

Well God bless you both. My Arab could always sense my slightest emotion which made mounting from the ground that much harder. He KNEW I needed to get on from the high ground, and made me work for it. That ride you were on seems desolate, and I wouldn't have wanted to go back nor would I. Stay safe and well you two.

Maybe get an updated copy of the map you used and take both copies to your local council and request that some clearer signage is put in place to avoid future issues.

I would have thought a good idea would be to ask the council where the bridleway was and ask the council to fulfill its duty to put up a sign post and way markers. You don’t take pot luck riding around the private land upsetting people…

You handled that well. You apologised but stuck up for yourself too. They have clearly come across a few rude horse riders in their time and are treating everyone they meet with the same disdain. I hope they realise after meeting you that all horse riders are ‘ not the same’ a lot of us have good manners and it was such a genuine accident on your part. I think they realised in the end as the helped you find your way. Sorry you were so upset. You didn’t deserve to be treat like that. ☹️
