    Nike Metcon 7 First Impressions
    There is A LOT going on with the Nike Metcon 7. Compared to the 6, nearly the entire shoe has been reworked with various performance supporting aspects.
    In this Nike Metcon 7 first impressions video, I break down from a macro level the normal Nike Metcon 7 and Nike Metcon 7 Mat Fraser.
    Thus far, I’ve enjoyed how the Nike Metcon 7 has fit and felt, and I’m curious how it does through my traditional battery of cross-training shoe tests.
    With so many new changes to the Nike Metcon 7, there has been mixed feedback across the board from Nike Metcon fans on social media, which is somewhat to be expected when new models come out with a TON of changes.
    In the next few weeks, check back for my in-depth Nike Metcon 7 review and my Nike Metcon 6 vs Nike Metcon 7 video breaking down the key differences between each model.
    What are your thoughts on the new Nike Metcon 7?
    Also, drop a comment below on this first impressions video, what would you like to see in future videos?

    When I use the lace lock I use the top velcro to keep them tight to the tongue and the bottom velcro to keep the lock out of the way when I tie my shoes.. I'm surprised nike haven't got these for sale yet, I got mine on the WIT website here in the UK.

    Running has always been a major problem when wearing metcons ever since I can remember, adding Nike react foam to the midsole is obviously an effort to make this shoe more running friendly, in addition to that Nike also changed the insole, it's just a regular insole now, not meant to provide cushioning when compared to the previous models.
    Overall, I see they tried to improve, but that desing... I might skip this one and wait for the metcon 8.
    Does it also come with the lifting pads?

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  3 роки тому +3

      Yeah, I agree. These definitely feel a bit more forgiving for shorter runs (I just hit a .5 mile this evening and I'm a forefoot runner) compared to prior models, but at the end of the day, if anyone plans on running distance or buying them for running, I always recommend opting for a more dialed in running shoe - to your point. I'm not a fan of the "running" in the marketing/spec talk at all, tbh, as there's a lot of context needed there and I think it can suggest "good for running" which in reality is a "meh for running, lol". I feel like in the case of Metcons it's always a matter of picking which battles you want to fight and win in the case of trying to tackle everything.
      Haha, it's funny, the first thought I had when receiving these was....what the heck is the 8 going to be like?
      The 7 does not come with the inserts.

    • @lucasgsa
      @lucasgsa 3 роки тому +1

      @@thatfitfriend absolutely agree with you. When I said good for running I meant the short runs in the workouts of the day at the gym. I use my metcons 6 for CrossFit but lately even the short runs have lead me to some kind of pain or injury, so I think the react foam is definitely an improvement.

    Dude! You should run through the numbers in the performance review i.e. construction aspect, I think they were meant for reviewers like you in order to be broken down in detail. Just an opinion. Looking forward for the review.
    PS I kind of dig how the chrome finish will eventually flake off on the MF pair. It will kind of give the shoes some "character", just like how creases do leathers or some sneakers like worn Chuck Taylors.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  3 роки тому

      That's a great idea! Plus, it will make it much easier for those not as keen to shoe construction to follow along. Look at Nike making everyone's lives easier, lol.
      I agree - it will give it a nice worn look. Ironically, I actually LOVE when my shoes look more broken in and worn as opposed to new, so I def agree in regard to that being a pretty cool feature for someone not as interested in the novelty and newness of the look.

    Isn’t React mid-sole for running shoes? The Nike ZoomX mid-sole has more energy return than the React. Reebok Floatride is similar to the ZoomX and is used for the Nano X1. although, i would prefer a minimum shoes, i was wondering is how they compare especially for running and plyometrics.

    I've seen some different colorways and those don't have the numbers on them. I do like the Matt Fraser colorway but I hate how the chrome finish will flake off over time but it is what it is right? I just bought the Metcon 6. I have Metcon 4 and 5 so I'm curious to see how the 6 differs from the 4 and 5. I'm also curious to see how you like running in the 7s Jake. Your insight on sneakers have been spot on in the past so I do take your opinions seriously when buying training shoes. I do love my UA Hovr Rise 2. Down the road, would you be able to compare the 7s to the Hovr Rise 2 or even the 3? I'm curious to see how far off Under Armour is to Nike in the training shoe game. Thanks for your videos!

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  3 роки тому +1

      That's what I thought about the other colorways, but I didn't want to say with certainty, then look like a fool in case I was off on them not having the numbers. That's a good thing, then it's likely just the initial go-live colorway! I feel like this launch has been a bit all over the place with official details, generally, Nike is a bit more formulaic with Nike Metcon details, tbh.
      Yeah, I'm interested, too, with how reactive the forefoot is it seems like these could be a feasible option for short-range runs, but will keep you posted for sure.
      I really appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback and share your experiences! I plan to do a BIG round-up at some point in the summer with a ton of models, so the Rise 3 will be included in there for sure.

I always thought you need a more flat shoe for crossfit with not too much foamy stuff/soles so you can have more groundfeel. I would love to know which sneakers you recommend me to take a step further in my training. I'm just a beginner.. for the last 1.5 year I've doing a combination of strenght training (not to heavy) and cardio (hiit, emom...).
    I would like to have 1 single pair of comfortable, stable and functional shoes for everything... I'm between metcon 6, 7, reebook X and XI, which would you recommend me? (It will be my birthday present 😊)

      Hey! Thank you so much and happy birthday!
      Great question - honestly, I think every model would work for the context of your needs, but I'll share some thoughts below that I think each model excels in .
      Nano X - Great price point ATM and good model for all-around stability and some versaitility.
      Nano X1 - Probably the most "versatile" of these picks with their midsole construction
      Metcon 6 - The most stable option up here and decent price points with them being on sale
      Metcon 7 - Interesting and a good blend of stability + versatility. I do like the addition of the React Foam for versatility purposes.
      Personally, I'd go with the model that you like best/feel the most drawn to that also aligns with your price point. They should all match your needs fairly well :)
