Those are snow fences. Quoting Wikipedia, "A snow fence, like a sand fence, forces windblown, drifting snow to accumulate in a desired place. They are primarily employed to minimize the amount of snowdrift on roadways and railways."

They look like something we use to prevent snow drifts from being to high. Might be something to be used to keep snow from drifting on to the farm it self.

I never realized that it could still be so cold in late June in Japan. I guess you are pretty far north.

Matt, for a temp "dead cat" filter, you can stop at a store selling craft materials or toys, (fur on the top of little toy trolls), and look for fake fur. It works pretty darn good in a pinch. Good Luck!

Maybe those things are used for drying out seaweed, or some type of vegetation.

Matt, how do you cope with the different power options, 110v in Japan and 220v elsewhere, while on your ride?

+sameerkm99 once your outside of the states everything is a variable voltage. I just make sure when I buy something it works both ways. Fried a modem when I first came to china and learned my lesson

A little suggestion: it would be neat if u put a map and highlight the route in the beginning of the video. I don't know how much work that will take. But I think it's helpful for view to have a rough idea "oh he's on this path in this video" "oh he moved from here to there on the map".

Matt, why don't you put the Kanji of the Japanese cities names in the title? That way more Japanese users may find your channel.
