The Northern Air Temple episode of the first season is a finale in itself, and if we had tried to do that we would be blowing all the resources right there. So, we had to pick and the toughest part of this process was deciding what to leave behind - and I’m sure there will be fans who are not happy that they didn’t get their favorite episodes and their favorite characters, and all I can say is it pains me too." He added, "I wish we could have done all of them, but there’s the reality of creating eight-hour-long episodes for a serialized drama and also expanding the world in places and telling new parts of the story that hadn’t been told before. That takes up time. I think people think it’s as easy as saying, 'Well there are 20 half-hour episodes of the original. That’s 10 hours. And there are eight one-hour episodes of the new show, so they only needed to make two more episodes.' But it’s not exactly one-to-one there, so that was the process we went through."
This Avatar live-action show should have an adaptation of the Ember Island Players episode. Just have them react to the Last Airbender movie, and it would be gold!
There’s two teen wolf stars in the live action show. The mother and daughter yukimuru playing a badass kitsune on the mtv teen wolf show. Now they played a tracker and a leader of the clan of the kyoshi island leader.
I love this show so much. I loved the original animated series and really didn't have high hopes when I saw the live version because basically all other live versions of animated shows I've watched sucked. but this one is no doubt an exception. it's so well done. and I love that Dallas already knows kungfu so he did so many cool moves in the show.
i love the fact that dallas , gordon , and ian looks casual and normal bc of their clothes , and theirs katara looking like a princess w her earrings and makeup and all that stuff 😂💜
We're hours away from the streaming debut. Super psyched. I've been waiting paying and hoping for more avatar the last Air bender since they made a movie some years back. This is definitely better
Live action creators didn't want to copy paste the animated series as it is and few of the plot changes made by them are pretty good and welcoming as well. I did enjoy watching many of the changes (like Azula and Sozin's intro) as they offered different and fresh perspectives. But it has its own demerits as well: 1) Characterisation is something that was extra ordinary in the OG series (Aang was goofy yet wise and brave but here he is shown to be always frightened and somewhat coward, Katara was passionate, strong willed but here she almost carried the same expression throughout and why on Earth did they tone down Sokka's sarcasm. He was such a lively guy.) Honestly actors playing main characters seriously needs to improve especially Aang and Katara. (PS: Maria Zhang’s acting stood out for me as she portrayed her interest in Sokka quite perfectly. Actors playing Zuko, Iroh and Ozai acted brilliantly as well.) 2) And why is the casting overloaded with Chinese/South east asian origin actors? The main theme of the original series was peace and harmony between extremely diverse nations. Probably this is why the original creators left this project sighting creative differences. 3) The OG creators had excluded visual references of the genocide against air nomads for a purpose as it was meant to be a kids show. But in netflix without such restrictions they could have explored it much deeper and it would have been fresh for us as well. I was expecting to see more of Aang's past and the wiping out of air nomads. The genocide portion could have been longer considering the effort they had put to show it visually. At least 1 episode dedicated for it would have given ample time for the buildup. However it lasted only for 25 odd minutes so it felt rushed to me. 4) There is no suspense at all in the writing. Everything was just direct and linear. 5) This has very less humour than the animated one. Comparison with original is inevitable as the bar is set so high that it's very difficult to match those standards. So considering the above mentioned issues, the OG stands miles ahead than this live action at least for me and I wouldn't agree with anyone calling this as better than the original itself...
I feel like it's actually a good thing if people start acting young. It's when your mind is most attuned to creativity. I started having an active imagination and making things at a young age. If you star in something young it gives you time to learn.
I love this series, there are goofy Aang parts but it reminds us the worst parts of being at war, the animation is a lot of slapstick humour that sometimes we forget that this is war instead of just a journey among friends

There’s two teen wolf stars in the live action show. The mother and daughter yukimuru playing a badass kitsune on the mtv teen wolf show. Now they played a tracker and a leader of the clan of the kyoshi island leader.
I knew I recognized the mom!
6:11 THIS!!!!!!! I love how gordon mentioned about this
I’m having a hard time concentrating because of Dallas’s muscles just looking GOOD!!😩😮💨🔥🤣
i need season 2 and 3 PLEASEEEEEE NETFLIX! we all love it, keep it up
I’m forever a Earth girl 🪨⛓️☄️⛰️
Kyoshi & Toph Beifong raised me into it
this was my favourite interview so far!! great questions
I love this show so much. I loved the original animated series and really didn't have high hopes when I saw the live version because basically all other live versions of animated shows I've watched sucked. but this one is no doubt an exception. it's so well done. and I love that Dallas already knows kungfu so he did so many cool moves in the show.
Can wait for this show 🎉🎉🎉
A "like" word counter would go crazy on this video
It’s how genz talks
@@Lisa-qm5bcLiterally like
Ikr I literally just tried to count how many times they were saying it
i love the fact that dallas , gordon , and ian looks casual and normal bc of their clothes , and theirs katara looking like a princess w her earrings and makeup and all that stuff 😂💜
These were EXCELLENT questions!
GORDON GOT SO COOKED BLUD WAS LEFT SPEECHLESS 😭😭😭😭😭
Aang just catching stray bullets from all sides 😭😂😭😂😭😂😂😂😂
And *_"Where your homies at?"_* is *DIABOLICAL!!!!* 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
We're hours away from the streaming debut. Super psyched. I've been waiting paying and hoping for more avatar the last Air bender since they made a movie some years back. This is definitely better
I will surely watch this on netflix!
Missed opportunity for Aang to respond with where’s your parents at 😭😭
I love this cast so much
1:22 OOF
Gordon Cormier is indeed a Filipino! He looks like the young version of Zaijian Jaranilla who played Santino. Congratulations!
Live action creators didn't want to copy paste the animated series as it is and few of the plot changes made by them are pretty good and welcoming as well. I did enjoy watching many of the changes (like Azula and Sozin's intro) as they offered different and fresh perspectives.
But it has its own demerits as well:
1) Characterisation is something that was extra ordinary in the OG series (Aang was goofy yet wise and brave but here he is shown to be always frightened and somewhat coward, Katara was passionate, strong willed but here she almost carried the same expression throughout and why on Earth did they tone down Sokka's sarcasm. He was such a lively guy.) Honestly actors playing main characters seriously needs to improve especially Aang and Katara. (PS: Maria Zhang’s acting stood out for me as she portrayed her interest in Sokka quite perfectly. Actors playing Zuko, Iroh and Ozai acted brilliantly as well.)
2) And why is the casting overloaded with Chinese/South east asian origin actors?
Bro id go air bending without a second thought
Great questions and answers!
Air you can fly!
I would choose Earth as my favorite bc it would (imo) be the most useful
1:15 gordon's flabbergasted face is so hsjskls
“Where your homies at” with the clip of ATLA is craaaazy
Gordon is just so inspiring ❤
I feel like it's actually a good thing if people start acting young. It's when your mind is most attuned to creativity. I started having an active imagination and making things at a young age. If you star in something young it gives you time to learn.
3:10 Because waterbending is still an innate part of her, even without formal training - like a muscle that can be made stronger
They knock airbending but if anyone has seen Zaheer from Legend of Korra do his thing?? Man 😤 that made me love airbending
perri nemiroff and the avatar gang my life is complete
I love this series, there are goofy Aang parts but it reminds us the worst parts of being at war, the animation is a lot of slapstick humour that sometimes we forget that this is war instead of just a journey among friends
They are hating on air man.. air is like the best.
"where your homies at"
Not even the lighting hurt aang that badly
I'd want to firebend the most. Earthbending would be the one I would least like to bend.
(Also, that was a damn savage line from Ian. 😂)
Ian Ousley as Sokka IS Sokka in Real Life! It's Amazing Casting, He is as Much a Part of His Character it's Wonderful❤ I'm only two Episodes in So I'm sure they are All Bringing their Very Best Performances 🙏
"Where your homies at". That's sooo Sokka. LOL.
