We all know and love the spider-sense. But have you ever really thought about all the many portrayals and how good each one is? That's what we are doing here today! Which is your favorite?

Another thing thats brought up in the 90s show is when he first got his spider powers, the spider sense HURT A TON. It gave him massive headaches when it went off and he had to learn to cope with his other heightened senses. You can even see on his face in some episodes that it still hurts him on occasion. You can see the strain in his face when he concentrates. That makes PERFECT sense tbh. The human brain reacting like this beyond human limits has to take a toll on it

I love it when superhero stories put emphasis on that fact. My Hero Academia does a really good job with that, where the powers can seem busted, but they take a toll on the characters' bodies until they train enough to reduce the strain.

One I think should have at least been mentioned and one I see as my personal favorite right up there with the 90s animated series is into the SpiderVerse when Miles first gets his powers and his spider sense is very stylistic and you see the comic book words “watch out!” to alert him something is about to smash through the window. Also when Peter’s spider sense interacts Miles’ and it allows Peter to realize Miles also just gained powers.
Just a very different and very stylized depiction I really enjoyed.

One of my favs is the very first time miles is having the sense, it’s a great build up at what it can do from first just making miles paranoia heightened, to his thoughts being really loud and then the Big Bang of it all, is the quiet but really loud “LOOK OUT” from the glass that is about burst.

  • @d-manthecaptain1382

The 1977 series used Spider-Sense in almost every episode, in the pilot movie it seems to predict things before they happen, even if far away, which is pretty much just a plot convenience to make Peter get out of the house and arrive at certain places when he otherwise wouldn't. Later episodes use it better, it instead highlights things as they happen, for instance there's an episode where somebody gets kidnapped at the airport, and Peter is only person who can notice because his Spider-Sense highlighted the entire event to him.
It looks super cheapo, because they couldn't overlay visual effects over moving footage, so whenever his Spider-Sense tingles they show a closeup of a perfectly still freezeframe of Peter with flashing red/blue glowy effects over his eyes

Guys, read Nonstop Spider-Man. I love how the Spider-Sense works there, it's really more like a warning and Spider-Man has to react to it. Like, the Spider-Sense would just straight up tell Peter shit like "MOVE FAST, MOVE FAST", and it even has sarcasm. Like, the Spider-Sense is SENTIENT.
And the TASM 2 video game's Spider-Sense is also really peak in those quick time events. Like, Pete would get immeasurable anxiety, time would slow down, and he would be breathing heavily trying to locate the source of danger.
