FabFilter definitely uses technology they could brand as AI but they don’t. I think they understand it’s gimmicky and they’re looking to make plugins that people use for 5-10 years
@@iamdoomedmusic People use "AI" as an umbrella term for technology that's existed for a long while. Anything that uses any type of advanced algorithm is "AI" (from things as 'basic' as autocorrect, predictive text, to things like social media algorithms, ads tailored to each individual user, etc) In the case of Pro Q 4, you could make a case for calling the spectral processing, and maybe even the drawn in EQ feature "AI". You can call a lot of features in a lot of plugins AI, the point is, right now it's the trendy thing to do, and now people see "AI" and think the same thing in every usecase: generative models, when there's several other categories

Being able to see frequency collision happening on all instances in your session is so insane, that is going to save thousands and thousands of hours of mixing engineers time
I found one issue with Pro-Q4 straight away. The spectrum threshold in the background is flat (0dB/oct), not tilted 3dB/oct for "flat vs pink noise". So when using spectral dynamics with broad EQ bands, the lower part of the band gets reduced a lot more than the upper part of the band. But it's fine if you use multiple bands - which I guess is how most people will be using it. Frederik on the FabFilter forum said he would take it into consideration for a future update. I still like what they've done with it, though. The lack of AI integration I think is a good thing (in my case anyway). Really don't like AI making decisions for me, even if it's just roughly guiding decisions. That's one reason I stay away from things like iZotope plugins. I love it, the only downside is that spectral adds a considerably amount of latency, more than Soothe as far as I could test and that you can only sidechain 1 set of tracks, in Cubase we have a stock plugin that can sidechain each node to a different input.
Frequency is kind of amazing; I don't even bother with the multiband compressor most of the time because I can fine-tune Frequency and get about the same results.

Right now sonible smart:EQ 4 is my 3rd party daily driver EQ. The smart analysis creates reasonable starting points as well as adaptive & dynamic processing. The Group mixing feature (much like Pro-Q4) works really well in allowing multiple instances to work together in a hiearchy-like list of importance as well as with track masking. I have a feeling that isn't going to be something they add, pro-q is a tool not a creative plugin, volcano on the other hand is designed more for creativity, and it has modulator modules which are pretty fun and handy!
@lil_floofer A volume tracker would be amazing for making an auto-filter inside of Pro-Q4, similar to dynamic gain on bands, but for frequency instead. A MIDI input modulator (in Saturn 2) would be great for near-automatic pitch automations, similar to Surfer EQ (Surfer is still faster here, but if you're already working with a MIDI Out source, not by much. [Also, this method has 0 latency unlike Surfer EQ]) An LFO would be pretty cool for kinda trippy bandpass movements, on drums for example (a technique used in some psych-rock tracks) It's not a "creative" plugin sure, but it doesn't have to be for modulators to be incredibly worth implementing
If the collision detection thing is possible, could you sidechain them without actually connecting them in the DAW? Is that something that can be done in a vst?
I would like to say something about the fidgeting: I fidget all the time but do it out side of any imporatnt window, while watching youtube video's I keep left right spamming, just dont do it in your important EQ LOL
It's a percentage because it's heavily program dependant like in Pro-Q 3, just with the ability to speed it up or slow it down a bit. Same goes for Pro-MB, for regular work just dial it in 'till it sounds the way you need it and don't go off the numbers too much.
Interesting, why no one I saw so far is mentioning Shade by UVI when talking about EQ alternatives. Maybe because it‘s more like a modulation FX Type of EQ?

If the collision detection thing is possible, could you sidechain them without actually connecting them in the DAW? Is that something that can be done in a vst?
Yeah you can set per band sidechains
Here buddy, let me help you out. The interface tells you how it works. You don't need to figure it out, you just need to read the little pop-ups. 3:03
3:22 maybe you need to try to be a bit more EQuanimous ;p
Yeah that X was really hard to figure out 😂
Fabfilter my beloved! Take my money 🗣️
Dont be a boot licker
ZL EQ is good, is free.
I would like to say something about the fidgeting: I fidget all the time but do it out side of any imporatnt window, while watching youtube video's I keep left right spamming, just dont do it in your important EQ LOL
Nova tells you milliseconds on attack and release for dynamic EQ, Pro-Q tells you a percentage - utterly stupid.
yeah i agree, that was something i thought of right after i posted this video.
Agreed. You can't time percentages to tempo without a degree I couldn't name
It's a percentage because it's heavily program dependant like in Pro-Q 3, just with the ability to speed it up or slow it down a bit.
Same goes for Pro-MB, for regular work just dial it in 'till it sounds the way you need it and don't go off the numbers too much.
Nova is free
Use your ears!
Everyone sleeping on the Sonnox Claro
Interesting, why no one I saw so far is mentioning Shade by UVI when talking about EQ alternatives. Maybe because it‘s more like a modulation FX Type of EQ?
Same that apQualizr2...
@@AledesChica apQualizr2 is goated
@@license_________2________chill absolutely true
damn thats fucking cool
i love u weaver
Why is are the Plugin Police using a Private Eye's office???
Pretty good video. I'd add, however, that _Kirchhoff_ is pronounced like KEERK-hoff.
$179 (less 50% intro discount) as a first time Fabfilter purchase may seem like a lot.
However, the more of their plugins you buy the more discounts you get.
Q4 cost me $63 ... 🙄
In Al Capone’s voice, you got nothing you got nothing😂😂😢
Yooo is that a skyward sword remix??
yeah lmao
@@Weaverbeats When's the full version dropping? 👀🔥
Nice.
what's wrong with EQ Eight?
AI free could be a selling point.
The slope changing is annoying now but other than that im happy. Now to sell proq3 on knobcloud😂
At €50 for just the upgrade.a rip off compared to the comptetion, of which there's plenty these day.
i would get this if it wasn't 256 Canadian dollars.. i can't spend that much on mixing plugins. If i ever start making money doing music things i will get it. for now i'm gonna stick with TDR and ZL eq
Tdr is just a good its not the plugin its how good your hearing and skills are most of the time we aint even using all those features yea im in canada also our money is crap currency wise i do have pro q 3 i can get it for 89 can but im still debating maybe i can put that money elsewhere
Sorry, I already have enough stomach ache. I just can't...
Mew - Repeaterbeater
People complaining about the price are the same people who never owned outboard gear. It’s cheaper, quit complaining
Lol Sonnox Claro entered the chat. *Does all this for a fraction of the price.*
😮 so you saying they just being a fanboy for fabfilter ?
Wait, Weaver showing an actual plug-in in a DAW instead of just playing the companies promotional videos and calling it good? I’m so confused.
I doubt I’ll purchase the upgrade. All of the cute little new features are nice but not very useful to me personally.
Oh man. Now I need to break out my wallet again. Thanks :p
Hey, I specialized in coding collision detection.
THE BEAT IS SOOO TOUGHH BRO DAMN
why you snitching on R2R though? 😒
Bro the x also got me
Smart-eq4??
They had early access
lol someone hook me up with a cr@cked vers🤣🤣
Im reporting you bro
You know what would be net? A copy to or better convert Q3 to Q4 settings. Why is it so hard to copy settings over after an upgrade?
Gotta sub to the law
Excetera? Come on now...
If u ever shave ur beard off, u should do a Hulk Hogan stache for a Plugin Police vid
Sold me on it! good job, but sorry I like something a bit more industrial and metal-looking so unless they can get it looking better forget it, looks matter with plugins it's science🤓
Its Just bunch Of Code Nothing Else Its Just A EQ - AP MASTERING
I hate VSTs, All my homies hate VSTs. USE STOCK EQS. ESPECIALLY ABLETONS. u really believe people listen to their favorite albums of all time and think “hmm wow I’m glad the sound engineer used a $200 plugin to make the individual tracks sounds better on this song”. CLOWN WORLD IDEOLOGY.
Bro just say you broke it's ok
TBT Kirchhoff EQ better
👀
😴 -- ReaEQ sleeper + peak.
I got it for $62😂
Must be in America because canada our currency is bullcrap
ppl will go over board with this and make lots of sterile songs.
I still hold out hope for upwards compression!
its an eq not a compressor. use pro mb
Just for the record… Sonible has been doing 90% of this 🫡
The collision detection is super dope though! FF is FF. Top tier still! But also shout out to sonible 😊
Collision detection can easily be done by your ears
When are gonna strip with that uniform? Asking for a friend 🤮
