  • Learn how to make Mango Lassi in this Restaurant Style recipe! I had to bribe my local Indian restaurant to let me in on the secret recipe. The actual recipe has more sugar than this but I found this to be the perfect ratio.
    RECIPE
    Ingredients
    - 1 3/4 cup (425g) canned kesar mango pulp (Sweetened)
    - 3 cups (750g) yoghurt
    - 1 1/2 cup (350ml) milk
    - 4 tbs (50g) sugar (7 tbsp if pulp not sweetened)
    - 1 cup ice cubes
    Method
    1. Add mango pulp, yoghurt, milk & sugar to blender.
    2. Add Ice cubes and a pinch of salt.
    3. Blend on high for 1 minute
    4. Enjoy!

    Thank you so much for this ! I tried to make this years ago and gave up BECAUSE I could not figure out the CORRECT RATIO of yogurt, milk and mango ! It LOOKS easy but the perfect TASTE proves it takes BALANCE of ingredients to get a perfect mango lassi ! Some things are so "simple" they are hard (a perfect steak, or crispy skin yet juicy broiled fish) !!! 🤗⚘️⚘️⚘️

      Couldn’t agree more! In my experiments, the thing that shocked me the most is how much more mango pulp I needed. I thought I needed just a little for the flavor but boy was I wrong. This ratio worked for me and most importantly, make sure you get SWEETENED pulp, not the unsweetened one :). Thanks so much for watching and trying this recipe out! Means the world :)

    thats a smoothie. true desi mango lassi contains rose water, saffron, cardamom powder. also should be hand churned for the real pop!

      Agreed. Stay tuned for the authentic version of the mango lassi. Sadly, very few restaurants make it the authentic way. This is how my local restaurants make it. Saffron in authentic mango lassi is also used very sparingly but does lend a unique flavor. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    My favorite part was when he started the blender and his hands jumped because he didn’t know if the pitcher or the top was going to fly off.

      Haha that is EXACTLY what happened! I wasn’t confident that it was going to stay in place 😂

    What is difference between mango lassi and mango mastani?

    • @FlavorTheories
      @FlavorTheories  9 місяців тому +4

      Great question! The main difference is the use of yoghurt. Lassi uses yoghurt while mastani uses milk. The lassi has a more tart flavor while mastani is more like a milkshake, generally sweeter. The garnish is also different. For mango mastani, you would typically top it with some dry fruits. I prefer almonds :)

      Thank you! Experiment with different brands of mango pulp. Some I like, others, not so much. Just make sure it's sweetened. If not, add more sugar. Enjoy!!

      Definitely. You can omit sugar altogether as the mango pulp is already sweetened!

    Stupid recipe sugar, why live when ripe fruit itself is very sweet, just play with the proportions instead of eating white sugar

    • @FlavorTheories
      @FlavorTheories  Місяць тому

      I’ve tried this multiple ways and the sourness of the yoghurt almost always reduced the pulp’s sweetness, that’s why I add the sugar. In fact, I’ve significantly reduced the amount of sugar than the restaurants put in. It’s just over half the amount. You can try it out without adding any additional sugar. The other issue is, in this part of the world, mangoes aren’t ripened on their trees. They are imported when green and ripened artificially so they don’t get nearly as sweet as a tree ripened mango would. Let us know how it turns out without sugar. Much love for watching and commenting :)

      @@FlavorTheories coconut milk, put the purchased mango in the basket and leave it for 3-4 days. The mass of the juice will reduce and the sweetness will increase

      @stronakalkographus6482 dip mangos (unpeeled) into coconut milk or should I peel them first?
