  • I have been working a lot lately on setting up my new studio. It's been a process of gradually moving stuff from the old room just down the hall, to my new larger space. There is still more things to do, but I thought I'd give you a sneak peek today, since you will be seeing this new room in future videos from this point forward. Hope you enjoy it watching this transition happen and that you will be able to pick up some organization and design tips along the way!

    I have a suggestion for a new vid -- blades. I bought the standard Sculpey blade packet and they work, but I see people using bendable blades, stiffer blades, talking about sharpening blades, and so on. How do the different brands compare? What about the usefulness of the variations? Thanks! I would trust your opinion.

      Thank you YellowOrangeRed for your comment. I have already done one video on polymer clay blades that may be helpful for you. ua-cam.com/video/nsXXavPAijo/v-deo.html

      I should have known you would be ahead of me! LOL. Thanks. Here's another one -- I follow directions on spiral canes and MINE look tortured with ungraceful spiral path, sharp turns in the spiral -- wonky and interesting, but I'd like to do the smooth and lovely spirals.

    I did much the same thing to my spare bedroom after my youngest daughter got married and left home. IKEA storage units ROCK! It does get overwhelming - sorting and organizing, but it's such a pleasure just to be in the room once it's completed. Hang in there!

    So happy for you! I'm in the process of re-designing & setting up my studio & often wonder, "Now where the heck will I put this??" and, "Where the heck did I put THAT?" I admire you for being able to shoot your fun & helpful videos during your transition. ♥ Can't wait to see your finished new space!

    Very nice, it's much lighter than the other room. Love your salt lamp, I received mine a couple weeks ago it's a basket with lots of rocks. Might get a solid one to place in the living room cause I found some of the rocks in Moms room, she has Alzheimer. Thank you for sharing your room.

    Looks great - I love the rainbow drawers! When a daughter moves out it must feel different to when a son goes... Brandon has been at Uni for almost 3 years but his room is an unchangeable shrine, where I sit and cry, because I want to look after "my baby". My 6 foot tall, 230 pound, tattooed, lip-pierced baby. *runs away crying*

      Don't cry sweet Valerie. I am sure he comes by to empty out your refrigerator every so often! :) (I couldn't exactly leave Willow's Room as a shrine... she took just about everything with her! I do miss her a lot though. I miss having a girl in the house that will chat and bake with me.)

    Beautiful! I know the feeling of being overwhelmed with having to move some to move something else out to move something else in! My oldest is getting married in June, an I'm planning to move my youngest daughter into my craft room upstairs and move my craft room into their two bedrooms, cutting an opening in the wall between them for easier access also. Because I can't move anything until after she's married, I've had plants of time to think, measure, and plan. What I thought would be an easy move, since I'll be doubling my craft space, poses several challenges not the least of which is that I'm disabled, so it'll be a slow moving process. Deciding what has to be moved first and in what order has been problematic. I'm so glad I've had time to think it through. When the air conditioner repairmen came to put in our new unit (they call it the wedding budget curse-- you spend twice the budget in "other" expenses, so far it's true), they knocked over a shelf in my craft room and failed to pick up a Mason jar of closed Mason jar of blue paint. They had no idea this jar was knocked over. Neither did I until the next day. Now we have to factor in time for getting new flooring to replace the carpeting in what will be my daughters new bedroom. Do you have any "war stories" in the re-do/renovate process? You said y'all did the flooring yourself. What kind of flooring? Thanks for sharing!

    What a great space, funny enough I also now have my craft area in what was my daughter's room and then after getting it to a point where I could actually work she moved back home! Fortunately we have a room in the loft so that's where she is ha!

      Hi Fran those are the drawers made by "Really Useful Box". I got them at a Canadian store called Deserres. I see that Michaels has a similar one but I think the drawers are a little deeper.

      It will be a little while yet. I am constantly bringing in stuff from the other room and readjusting things so that they function well. It will be a work in progress for awhile. But certainly when it is finished, I will share it with everyone.

    I have seen videos on making the candles where they dip them in different colors then stand them on end and make slices to decorate, some removed and some peeled down. I want to try this for a pendant and I think it would be a good video if it can be done on this small scale....

    +polymerclaytutor Is it safe to color polymer clay with acrylic paint BEFORE it is baked like you would use alcohol inks to color polmer clay? Will it be safe to bake?

    • @killmydreamdorothy8800
      @killmydreamdorothy8800 7 років тому

      Budang Chaka I've used acrylics before with no issues. I wouldn't recommend alcohol inks prior to baking. Usually it is applied after and it looks very nice.

    Hi Cindy! Great job on your new studio! I love the rainbow cabinets!
    I'd love to have your expertise on something...I make fairly large polymer props like lollipops and these usually take up to 10 packs of clay which gets very expensive. Is there a more affordable clay that you can recommend that can be used as the core? I've been using scrap poly clay for the inside but I'd like to use another oven safe clay that might work with polymer clay. Any recommendations? I'd really appreciate your thoughts. 💚💜💗Thanks Cindy!
