i bought the tour radio a few months ago and i think its a good radio of course iam not a pilot but iam over the road truck driver and works great from coast to coast of course in some of mountains do cut out for a bit but comes back plus you can do off line download when your in them dead areas but work great for most of the time
@@Poop-nu1so probably ..but I don't really know the pricing ... I don't own a plane . But there are packages for boats and planes called navigator and aviator ...I bet you can call and check if the extra features are worthwhile ... there may be even a free trial they maybe willing to give you
I have an Onyx Plus in my Piper with the new XM Bluetooth docking station. I am curious whether you can use the Bluetooth capability to use the voice requests over the intercom. Anyone tried that? Anyway, it eliminates the audio cable when paired to my PS Engineering audio panel.
I have XM radio on my plane. It works great for Cross Countries and isn't a distraction really...as soon as one of the radios breaks squelch the music goes away. I was in the air when the SpaceX rocket went up and was able to listen to the launch live on XM in the plane. Pretty good stuff
I don’t think listening to music in the cockpit is an inherently dangerous notion, although there is a lot of research that suggests performance on high level tasks suffers with the addition of music, but I am disappointed in the AOPA endorsement of this product. Let’s keep AOPA above the sales patter and instead aim for a balanced and impartial while informative association.

SiriusXM also has an aviator package .that is specifically for planes
Isn't that more money?

Get out of my head. ha. I just started looking for a receiver yesterday.
All sirius radios are nothing but junk. Sometimes they work and dont
It's just a distrction that a GOOD Pilot doesn't need.

My radar does all the work for me on the Learjet i fly, no need to listen to the flight control when flying over the ocean.
