Landless gameplay to me basically means an improved Custom Ruler experience. One of the biggest problems is trying to play a very unorthodox ruler, especially one as a vassal, is that you kinda just suddenly exist. AGOT gives you a nice lil event chain to help justify your character's rise to power *wink wink* and this feels like a greater way to represent sudden change and interloping character/cultures then event spawn.
Love that I found out more things in this video as a few reviews that I have listened to. Quite frustrating that you didn't get to play it early. You for sure deserve to. Cheers Malf.
I am glad they fixing the invite with shy and compassionate kicking people from court. I also the the 1066 Conquest of England option. I also enjoy the change of stress gains and the battles. Love the "reserve Genghis Khan" bit.
This update might be the best quality of life improvement in the history of Crusader Kings. My favourite is choosing a new destiny, but literally every aspect of the game has been improved somehow.
Switching sides in war is a really good inclusion here. Being roped into a war with my best friend and ally due to them attacking someone I happen to have another alliance with is kind of annoying since refusing to join a defensive war has such a huge penalty and takes no additional information into account. I think overall alliances still need more detail but I think everything in this patch is really good. Genuinely very excited to start some new campaigns now - and I have to wait a week because of how busy I am argh!
"Securing your succession is an important part of CK3" - Yes, but should it? It's fair that your house needs an heir - but succession crisis was a big deal many places on earth. The new CK3 start date happens in the middle of what's known as the Civil War period in Norwegian history for instance. Which was a succession war, which lead to different factions fighting for the throne. They would find bastard children everywhere. There's of course the War of the Roses - which does happen after CK3. It's different from faction installment because it's not just a "we don't like this king" rebellion. I would love to see the struggle mechanic become more of a "thing that happens in a region" than just the thematic campaign settings for some areas. If a succession is disputed a small struggle could trigger - where everyone in the region can choose to side with one of several factions. The winning faction puts their King on the throne. This could also make use of both the legitimacy system, maybe even putting the house unity system into all houses too. Depending on the unity or approval of the succession things could happen. Disinheriting characters is a great way to push your succession towards a Civil War - as an example. I like that diarchies are in the game now - but I wish it could also be a succession type. Norway at least has many "co-regents." not just "my son is my co ruler." This could make even more interesting use of the regent mechanic - which I personally feel doesn't do a whole lot unless you started as a kid.
I think it's cool that disinherited characters keep their claims. I see so many streamers send off their kids to streamline their empire but having one of those kids come back for revenge would definitely add some challenge
Holding court is one of the currently worst additions to the game - it's generally always negative, and you can ignore it if you don't want it without much penalty. Glad to see it changed.
I don’t think the problem is that you could easily ask the pope for gold I think the problem is the pope does not invest his money more often for he won’t have it available. Will be a better solution invested in holy orders in temples nachos in the one he directly controls, but those of under the protection of other lord, after all, he should be focused on investing in the faith as the head of the faith
Tried to play Richard the lionheart as an adventurer, some duke in Ireland died and I inherited his land, didn’t even get an option to decline, and becoming adventurer makes you a criminal suddenly,
@@speedymccreedy8785 come on, man. It wasn’t *that* as those people said. I personally enjoyed it. I won’t deny it has its issues, but it doesn’t make the game any less enjoyable.
I play CK3 occasionally and only now am I buying myself some DLC's. I noticed Chapter 1 is on -50% sale on Steam, but for example Tours and Tournaments is "only" -30%. Should I pull the trigger on T&T or wait to see if it's -50% or similar on Black Friday?
I wish the game would display better how strong armies are. The little icons next to the number really doesn't account for much. Maybe show the break down, and then the quality of each MaA or total? Levies are levies after all.
Wait isnt the throne of solomon already in the game? I remember getting it before via a...i can never remember the exact name, its when you send a courtier on a adventure somewhere to get a random artifact.
My biggest issue with holding court was that I never got anything good out of it. I really liked that they added Legitimacy, I started doing them again. With new events, I may do it much more.
I am really not sure why Legends of the Dead gets so much flak. Plague pop ups is the thing I hear most, but with the default settings you can ignore quite a bit of the diseases that you see, and especially with low settings they barely even register for me. Then again, I play on Apocalyptic plagues most the time so im pretty numb to it. Also love to have something that will bring Dev down to balance out the creep. Legends can be pretty interesting in their effects, though the event chains are pretty lame some times. I like the ability to drift realms, evangelize, and migrate. Makes it entirely worth it to me. Its far from the best DLC, but I feel it is a solid addition to the gameplay loop myself.
@@imaxinsertnounherex Plagues are more of a minor nuissance than actual fearsome healthy hazards, and legends are mostly inconsequential. Being able to fulfill more than one legend in a lifetime makes it a bit meaningless. Putting rewards and bonuses for completing a legend aside, I would like for the legends to have some sort of dinastic tie-in. Beyond the mechanical aspects of new gameplay additions, some features need 'narrative' effect in my opinion. Legends of the Dead might need a rework in order to change the communitiy's mind going forward.
@@iPyroNigma One thing I can say that the folk at Paradox have done is updating past DLC to tie in with new content. Hopefully as the development of new content goes forward, they add enough content to satisfy you.

I wholeheartedly agree.
