Sat on a swing in front of his old house 2 days ago and caught a chill. He is definitely a great, schools and streets are name after him. That statue is right by his house in front of a church that I use to got to with my cousins and friends when we was little. Nothing to argue about he is the hope of this town. “Never” really seen someone leave Beaufort and make it then come bac here. That alone showed you how brave he was. Because when I leave I’m not coming bac to live here.

I know a direct descendent of Robert Smalls. His name is, Robert Smalls and his family roots are in Charleston, SC. He's my cousin by marriage. One day when I was learning about the legendary Robert Smalls, it hit me like rock. Here we are down here in the south. Could Robert Smalls be related to THE Robert Smalls. I held that thought until I finally saw him at a funeral. After the funeral, I had to ask him and he confirmed it and told me more about his family.

Mr. Smalls was actually an Indigenous American, not African. He was free, not enslaved. He enlisted in the Navy and also served in the Army from 1862-1866. His wife's name was Anna E., not Hanna. He took charge of the Steamer Planter after the captain abandoned ship during battle- (the former captain was discharged for cowardice). His occupation was a (ship) pilot, and later, he also was in charge of Customs at Beaufort, SC. Drop the fake slave story and give this true hero is rightful accolades!

Each time I read about my people, about my history I become more proud than ever as a black man to see how valuable the black race is to humanity, but it also shows how hateful white people are toward humanity. If only those in the community knew their worth they wouldn't take such pleasure to kill each other every day, or to allow the democrats to hold them hostage, the black community has no economical or political power.
You can't be independent if you don't want anything in your community, you can't be free if you are not allow to vote for whom ever party you please, voting without demand or agenda is an empty purpose to continue make those who enslave you more comfortable.
They got you relying on them and begging for rights, so they pick when and how they should pass a law in your favor.
Joe Biden said there is no place in America for white supremacy, but he has been in politics for more than 50 years, where white supremacy has been exist all along, America has always been their place.
Nancy Pelosi has been in congress since 1986, Chuck Schumer has been in congress since 1999, how many innocent black men they have watched assassinated by their racist cops, but they clown you about police reform and prison reform.
The black community is the new plantation, those racist cops have only one agenda, and that's to kill as many innocent black men they can, only a fool would think those cops are there plot protect them, look at the community, it is a dump fill with crimes, they just don't care.

"Smalls wrote to U.S. Senator Knute Nelson, "I never lose sight of the fact that had it not been for the Republican Party, I never would have been an office-holder of any kind-from 1862 to the present." In words that became famous, he described his party as "the party of Lincoln...which unshackled the necks of four million human beings." He wrote this line on September 12, 1912, in a letter expressing his anxiety over the looming presidential election. In that letter, he concluded: "I ask that every colored man in the North who has a vote to cast would cast that vote for the regular Republican Party and thus bury the Democratic Party so deep that there will not be seen even a bubble coming from the spot where the burial took place." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Smalls

Very true that Smalls, Frederick Douglass, Lincoln and many more “liberal-minded” 19th century leaders were members of the Republican Party. To compare today’s political parties and their platforms to those of the 19th century is a mistake. In fact, the platforms of 19th century Republicans and their Democrat contemporaries have flipped. My videos never attempt to connect political parties of the past to today… because there is no comparison. Probably best to study people’s actions and not get stuck on organizational names.
The following link provides a solid explanation of how the party platforms “flipped” over the course of our post Civil War history. Thanks for watching!

My home town. Our segregated school was named after him. In or around 1970, to make room for an administrative building, 2 all black high and 1 primarily white schools were forced to integrate. I was elected senior class president of the 1972 senior class. Yes, 50 years later (May 1972), not much has changed. Thanks to our brave ancestors, including Mr Robert Smalls, we are still in the fight. Why not too many black people know about their history ... looking for it on facebook, instagram or ticktock instead of a library, from their senior family members or better yet ... wiki. Victims are loved because they accept what others tell them about themselves and then choose to chase the new stories being told to them. Victors question what is or not written or said about their history. Then, search all places for truths, correlated facts, then validate sources. Thanks to this post and for allowing comments what a few other channels have. Forever proud.

@@galaxys6071 I’m from SC, I know his story. My comment, however, was about a black female slave narrative in juxtaposition to that of a black male slave. Modern progressivism is obsessed with the diminution of the black Hetero Male with a nuclear/in-tact family - and has been in 1968. Sorry if I didn’t state it better.👍
