What a fascinating story, Neil. I've never heard of Hutch or this scandal. As for his NOT writing his memoir, it reminds me of Ava Gardner. At the end of her life, she faced bankruptcy. She didn't want to sell her jewelry (many of them gifts from Frank Sinatra), so she wrote her memoir. Frank found out and proceeded to help her financially until she died. Some say he did this to stop the book (it wasn't published). Most believe it was because she was the love of his life, and he wanted to help her. They remained friends until she passed away.
I believe it was common knowledge in the day that the Mountbattens had an 'open' marriage. He, too, was a great philanderer (but it was acceptable for the man, not so much for his wife).
How fascinating. Amazing what goes on behind closed doors, as they say. What a thing to have hanging over your head even after the wife dies. What a story. ♥️🇨🇦
What a fantastic story, Neil. I had heard some salacious stories about Edwina Mountbatten but this must have been shocking in the day! Fabulous report ❤ Neil.
Greetings Chum ! Very interesting and of course a Scandalous story. Your voice is very calming and keeps me interested in hearing the story. A wonderful gift of gab too ! Probably influenced by your talented parents. At least he received a Blue plaque and was someone’s Love of their life, and that’s an accomplishment. Thx for sharing. Hugs 🤗xx
An affair with a female married Royal, what an eyebrow raiser. Alhambra takes me straight to Spain and great memories. What a nice thing for Lord Mountbatten to do. Thanks Neil, excellent story.
Fascinating story Neil. It had it all; scandal, making history, breaking barriers but hints of sadness there. How sad after all that to pass away penniless. Kind of Lord Mountbatten to pay for the funeral and headstone. Thank you Neil for another great story
Wow fascinating. There is honor in not selling the secrets you know even when penniless, if the subjects don’t want their lives & loves exposed or exploited. Thank you for bringing this man’s life back Neil. 🎉🕺🎵🎹🎼🎶🎵🕴️
Hi Neil, I have Andrew Lownie’s book on the Mountbatten and this story was eye raising, indeed. Poor Louis felt a little inadequate compared to Hutchison and his overwhelming talents 🤭🤭🦘🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺
Fascinating . Just imagine social media dealing with this scandal if it had happened today. My goodness The Sussex debacle now looks so tame and no wonder the Monarchy knows how to "ignore " the current difficulties. Thank you Neil for a fascinating story. It was certainly easier to cover things up in those days. It reminds me of a story often told with great relish by a former London policeman back in the 70s about the disgraced Duke of Windsor. He told us that they would often get "instructions" that they were not to raid a particular nightclub that evening. Turns out the Duke of Windsor was visiting that evening. It must have happened regularly as he told the story with great relish and hilarity . It's a different world.
Andrew Lownie's book certainly opened a lot of eyes to the Mountbattens but my grandparents' generation were scandalized but largely silent. Both Mountbattens raised Lady Pamela Hicks who is definitely a true lady.
🙏🏼💖✨ Thank u Neil from La La Land!!! fascinating as always...not to mention the "billiard table" story re: Hutch & Edwina :-) Evelyn Waugh also satirized Hutch in an early novel.
👋👋👋👋 Extremely wealthy people of the day and indeed today mostly allow their wealth go to their head. They think they can do anything they want. If they get into some kind of trouble because of their action they can simply buy their way out of any repercussions......
Where do they still have such gorgeous flowers in London? Read that the Mountbattens had an "open marriage." I've read that India and Pakistan still suffer from Mountbatten's "governing" of the region.
I've read that Louis Mountbatten was in love with Maria of Russia (Tsar Nicholas's third daughter). He apparently carried a photo of her until he died.
Interesting account, Neil. Both Louis Mountbatten and his wife, Edwina lacked fidelity and common decency. Stories of Louis Mountbatten get even shadier that you've reported. I know that King Charles regarded Louis as a mentor and grandfather figure. But I've always wondered why the Prince and Princess of Wales, gave their youngest son the name "Louis" Young Prince Louis is a rascal, but let's hope he grows up with more integrity.
Such an interesting story, Neil, many thanks. I enjoyed your telling of the Mountbatten story very much and found it fascinating. What a sad and unfulfilling relationship Lord Louis and Lady Edwina must have had to make them seek love and affection outside their marriage. At least they remained on cordial terms, so at least perhaps friendship survived. As for Hutch, I suppose he must have been happy with his lifestyle or he would have moved on.
👋👋 Wow Neil, what a brilliant and insightful scandalous story, your wonderful eloquent speaking brought these stardust memories to life, you are amazing. History is truly fascinating, none more so than the Mountbattens, Lord Mountbatten certainly showed kindness in time of need. Thank you Neil, just perfect, lovely to see you with Des O'connor, as handsome then as you are now. Stay safe and well. Hxx👋👋🙏❤️🏴🌟
Hutch had a marvellous voice just like pure silk, Edwina was a bit of a girl & was the first in the marriage that strayed & after that never stopped with multiple men, Louis then did the same I felt quite sorry for him as I do with all cuckolded men, for a man in his position it must have been very shaming.
Thank you Neil! Your stories are so interesting!!! And historically helpful. We should know these things and be educated about the past! It is so important to remember people and their accomplishments. I hope you enjoy your New Year's Eve and may the coming year be a very good one for you.❤❤❤
O'm just reading about 'Hutch' in my new Christmas book, by Andrew Lownie, The Mountbattens: Their Lives and Loves. So, perfect timing from our boy Neil. What a great story about Mr Leslie Hutch and quite naughty too!
Thank you so much. That was very interesting. Not so much as gossip but history. Have a marvelous New Year for you and your family. From the USA state of Oregon.
Interesting story. It reiterates the old saying that there is nothing new. I feel sorry for Hutch. A man with an amazing amount of talent. It makes the Harry and Meghan story seem almost tame by comparison.
Another great story, thank you Neil 🇳🇿
That's a great story, brilliantly presented. Thank you, Neil.

I really love this new feature!❤
Another fascinating story Neil. Thank you, and a big wave👋👋👋
Absolutely 👋👋👋
Fascinating story Neil. It had it all; scandal, making history, breaking barriers but hints of sadness there. How sad after all that to pass away penniless. Kind of Lord Mountbatten to pay for the funeral and headstone. Thank you Neil for another great story
I wonder what Neil knows about Danny la Rue.
@Threadbow What do you mean about Danny L R? Neil has said that he met Danny La Rue
This was fascinating. Almost like a "Royals behaving badly" situation.
Great story, Neil. There really is nothing new under the sun!
Wow fascinating. There is honor in not selling the secrets you know even when penniless, if the subjects don’t want their lives & loves exposed or exploited. Thank you for bringing this man’s life back Neil. 🎉🕺🎵🎹🎼🎶🎵🕴️
What an eye opening story.
Very interesting. I didn't think I'd be interested, not truly, a well told part of royal scandal!
Wonderful as always Neil. Your history news is amazing ❤❤❤
Don't thank us, we owe YOU for your time and effort; ready again now as every night for my bedtime stories at 01.00. Thankyou🙂🤗 !
Hi Neil, I have Andrew Lownie’s book on the Mountbatten and this story was eye raising, indeed. Poor Louis felt a little inadequate compared to Hutchison and his overwhelming talents 🤭🤭🦘🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺
I love listening to Andrew Lownie
@ agree 😄. Particularly with an Aussie UA-camr who loves a chat 😂😂
Love these reports. ❤❤
Once more great insight into history.
Love this story, Neil😊😊😊
It is amazing how some people ruin their own lives! Edwina's behaviour reminds me of Harry"s behaviour.
And Meghan's. No boundaries. Both entitled bullies.
Lesley Hutchison , the pianist with Edwina Mountbatten, certainly raised some eyebrows by the sound of it Neil . Big wave 👋
Thank you Neil, for the amazing history scandal.
This is such a fascinating story. Thank you!
I so enjoy watching this series. You are a born story teller.Thank you Neil.
Fascinating! You tell it so well Neil. I was glued to my headphones!😊
This sounds like one of the storyline’s in Downton Abbey.
Hutch was indeed a pianist extraordinaire.
Fascinating . Just imagine social media dealing with this scandal if it had happened today. My goodness The Sussex debacle now looks so tame and no wonder the Monarchy knows how to "ignore " the current difficulties. Thank you Neil for a fascinating story. And meg will be forgotten as well.
He’s a good looking man. I can totally see why he turned the ladies’ heads, even royal women.
Fascinating look into the past!❤
Thank you Neil. Fascinating news items. Absolutely the most interesting and honest UA-cam videos of all.
Fascinating handsome gorgeous Neil I have never heard this story, great and amazing thanks 😊

Good day Neil😊that’s a sad story.
Keep em coming Neil. What a great story. Loved the picture of you and Des O'Connor.
Andrew Lowney's book on the Mountbatons ,its a very good read .
Andrew Lownie's book certainly opened a lot of eyes to the Mountbattens but my grandparents' generation were scandalized but largely silent. Both Mountbattens raised Lady Pamela Hicks who is definitely a true lady.
Fascinating Neil great story
Thsnk you, very interesting.

Good Evening Neil 🍾🇺🇲🍾👋🤚👋🍾💚❤️🍾💚
👋👋👋👋 Extremely wealthy people of the day and indeed today mostly allow their wealth go to their head. They think they can do anything they want. If they get into some kind of trouble because of their action they can simply buy their way out of any repercussions......
Fascinating history, Neil! I hate to say it, but I'm struggling to see how "most beautiful woman in Britain" was bestowed upon Edwina???
Where do they still have such gorgeous flowers in London? Read that the Mountbattens had an "open marriage." I've read that India and Pakistan still suffer from Mountbatten's "governing" of the region.
Thanks for this
I thought the love of ner life was Nehru !
Great story, but so sad! Timing is everything, is it not? But I admire Louis for his chivalry & closed lips!
Fascinating neil, many thanks ... waving 😊
I've read that Louis Mountbatten was in love with Maria of Russia (Tsar Nicholas's third daughter). He apparently carried a photo of her until he died.
Lets not forget about Neru... allegedly....though not confirmed 😮
Beautiful but sad story for all concerned.
Thank you, very interesting as always.
Wow interesting very interesting

He was a very good looking young man, you can imagine ladies swooning over him.
Wow, I didn’t know about any of this. Thank you Neil.
Lord Mountbatten was a British statesman, Royal Navy officer and close relative But he wasn’t Royal but he “thought” he was and brought a big shadow
Such an interesting story, Neil, many thanks. I enjoyed your telling of the Mountbatten story very much and found it fascinating. Have read many biographies of the Mountbattens. Fascinating stuff.
