Old Times - Back To The Old Days of Just Jammin' With Jimi

- I basically gave up on all of my new recording gear. That stuff sucks. I'm selling everything and just doing what is fun for me, jamming to Hendrix records and hoping the Hendrix police don't arrest me.
I may have a few videos coming: One of with the new Q Pickups from Croatia, 1964 Formvars. And maybe a low profile cord for upside down Strat players from Ampturco Guitar Werks.
I am using both the 1960 Bassman, 1964 Super Reverb, my favorite Sabbadius Maui (Rainbow) fuzz and the #1001 (68) Funky-Vibe with my speed pedal, and my 1964 Strat with a new Musikraft Reverse CBS Headstock neck.
Your playing is freakin´awesome!! Congratulations for your great talent!! Greetings from México City
Mr. Miller could you teach how to play little miss lover?
Yum yum still hungry
N great energy.
Experienced
Glad to see you havin fun again!
Awesomeness 🔥🔥🔥 Jimi spirit is right there with you brother 🙏
Hey Farees! Thank you brother. We'll talk soon. Off to my grandson's birthday party today.
Absolutely incredible!!!!!
Love it buddy!
Genio
sounds awesome!!! as always..
man do you ever just look at the fretboard while you are playing and you see what jimi saw for a second or imagine what he saw looking at a similar fretboard making the same sounds, it’s a very moving experience
There have been a few times when I get excited figuring out some of his tricks. I do notice that he knew the pentatonic scale like no-one else. He was a pioneer. Like Paul McCartney said 'He just knew a little more than us."
@@millstap yes he truly saw the guitar in a way that i don’t think anyone realized until him and now we all are trying to pick up the pieces of his genius that he left behind!
Nailed it 👍🏼 Gave me Woodstock Flashbacks and I was born in the 90s 😂
Oh, how much fun it would be to play on three Marshall stacks in tandem. It would be insane.
That’s some wicked playing, thanks.
you dropped bombs everywhere with that strat ☀️✌🏻🌋
Yessssss love to see you fun my friend . Welcome back : )
Have you ever heard of muddy waters-jimi
you really have the vibe great millstap⚡
Good to see you jamin to Jimi again 😁
Simply awesome 😍
Great jammin Millstap! Love from Vegas ❤
Thank you Coltan. Is it hot out there? It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Vegas in the summer.
Damn, dad! At 3:06 you really went there! Even with a behind the nut bend in the middle of the run... that's insane!
Lol. Yeah, another Jimi invention as far as I know, the behind the nut bend.
that tone haunts me in my dream ^^ awesome , a bassman & superreverb with fuzz and vibe holy moly
Yes, that is a great combination because they have different frequencies that blend together to form a new sound.
When you get to that “ special place”!…… 👌🏻
Jimi stood up playing though.
@@hoppes9658 music is music, it doesnt matter if youre stood up or stood down, it's the same with your eyes open/shut. This music in particular is incredible
Jimi didn’t make it to his mid sixties either brudda
As you get older your back, shoulders and knees wear out.
Good luck with your health in your life span brudda.
@@hoppes9658 Actually I wish I would stand up. It changes the arm and hand position quite a bit and lets you play a little closer to the bridge which Jimi did a lot. I just got lazy over the years and am so use to sitting. I do remember when I was gigging that I would have to practice the songs standing up for a few days before a gig just so I could get used to it again.
@@curtisphilumalee1447 Lol. Jimi was pretty healthy but yeah, late sixties, he'd probably be sitting down too like BB had to do. If you don't have to have that weight on your shoulder, why do it. But then, sitting has its problems too with the human neck. We're all slowing deteriorating.
I've been researching Uni Vide type pedals lately. Do you have any advice for any on a budget?
I think the RWeaverFX Midnight Vibe or Scarlett. I'm not sure if there is a difference between them. They are less than $400 as far as I have seen lately.
@@millstap thank you!
Congrats which uni-vibe are you using?
That's my Sabbadius 68 with is the #1000 commemorative series. It's #1001.
@@millstap OK thank you very much
awesome awesome playing those laser sounds at around 2:30 are what i live for
A good fuzz, overdrive pedal and a 40 watt tube amp of some sort will get you there. Plus, maybe the preamp of an Echoplex thrown in.
@@millstap I hear those sounds on Live in maui and another live record that i can’t think of, he didn’t seem to get that loud and insane in the studio though at least not to the extent of getting those spaceship noises. You really can spend a lifetime analyzing his body of work
@@JoshLousk He really lived for those live performances where he could let loose although he got tired of all the requests for the old stuff. He wanted to move ahead as quickly a possible to his next lofty level.
Love it!!! How are those Q Pickups by the way? Do they hold up compared to what Rumpelstiltskin offers?
I have a full house of grandkids this week so I haven't had a chance to install them yet. I'm looking forward to it. If they are anything like my original 1964's with a little more clean power, they will be amazing. I will post a video in the next 1-1/2 weeks hopefully.
@@millstap Hi. What made you go for the Q pickups over say Lollars? You've got a great ambient/reverb sound in that room. Thanks.
@@dmillerme7 The Q Pickups were recommended to me by a pro in Italy and he got me a special deal. Plus, I wanted to try something new. They are nice pickups. I'm starting to notice the nuances between the Q's, Rumpels, and the vintage 1964's. The 64's usually win but the others have more punch and drive. It's definitely nice to have the variety. They all sound slightly different. I'm starting to focus more on their balance between strings and am realizing that that can be pretty important on which strings have prominence. I'm not sure how to buy pickups based on balance though but I think that was the concept the Lollar pushed with the flat poles. I don't use the Lollars because the set is made for a Strat that has a deeper bridge pickup route and won't fit into a vintage style route. They will only fit in my Nash Strat. I guess I could try just the middle and neck pickups in the future if I wanted.
@@millstap I have a '75 strat that needs something. I was thinking of the Lollar blonde or 64s. Not sure what kinda route I got in the strat. I"ll have to check it out. Thanks for responding. Got to have that Jimi Axis quack....
@@dmillerme7 For the Woodstock sound, I really love the Rumpelstiltskin Experiences but they are meant for really cranking. You get those things fired up and they sound just like it to me. They go great with a fuzz. Yes, double check the specs on any Lollars because he uses longer magnets on some bridge pickups and they usually state that they will not fit in a vintage Strat route. The longer magnets give them more power. I'm not sure I like the flat poles. I usually get a reverse vintage stagger so it emulates what Jimi would have had. My Rumpel Gypsys, Experiences, and Q's all have a reverse vintage magnet stagger.
