The dancing is truly amazing. We did this and it was the last musical I did when I was in high school (I did stage crew all 4 years) so this makes me teary eyed. They did amazing!
They SHOULD have professionally filmed the full show with Harry Groener for release. Such a fcking a crime. Harry Groener is an incredibly talented actor and he deserved much better.
+etrimbleable I would love to see that production too! Mainly for Jodi Benson. The video that I've seen is the whole show, but I don't think it's the original cast. Jodi Benson is not the actress playing Polly.
Yes it is! It was originally written for the 1930s brothers musical "Girl Crazy." It was then used in the film "American in Paris" circa 1950. Then the 90s Broadway musical "Crazy For You" which had an all Gershwin score but the songs came from various sources. and now currently in the stage version of the 50s film "American in Paris"
@@sandpeat True, but remember, this is the Kennedy Center Honors, not the Tony Awards. KCH usually does shortened versions of the Broadway numbers, not the full version done on Broadway.
Wow! Fantastic.

Jodi Benson AKA - voice of Ariel ❤
I watched the show at the theater in New York in August 1993! I thought their performance was just magical!

I wish the 1992 Broadway production were available in it's entirety. Harry Groener was one heck of a hoofer.
It's on UA-cam, a PBS registration of the show.

@@woutthielemans5073 That's not Broadway, it's the Paper Mill Playhouse version, which was from 1999. It's a 90% or so recreation of the original.
Harry and Jodi, the BEST!
とてもステキです!
Spect-tab-ulous. An inspired number. I even got to see GB, from time to time. Thank you.
Theres always something musical happening at the Kenedy Center Honors
NOW I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD EVERYTHING!
All this time I thought that song was a Fred Astaire dance in black tie and top hat. How did I miss this musical.
I'm surprised Crazy for You hasn't yet been adapted to film.
girl crazy was a movie
I guess Ariel finally got her wish!
only the American could do...best like this ..it's their culture.
I love this!
THank You!

You're welcome!
WHY JAPANESE SUBTITLES ?
MUST BE FROM OUTER SPACE!
Isn't this song in an American in Paris I'm so confused

Russell Wright ohhhhhhh ok thx for clearing that up lol
+Joshua Lewis you're more than welcome! I teach musical theatre so I'm happy to oblige!
yes
This song was introduced by Ethel Merman in.the musical Girl Crazy in 1930 and later used in.the An American in Paris movie.
Ooh sweet fancy pretzels, I hate Jodi Benson's vibrato.
Oh My! Sweet fancy pretzel is right - Tee Hee! That vibrato is so strange!
Me too. I just really do not care for her voice.
Coming from someone who probably can't even sing.
@@cattycorner8 well that's your irrelevant opinion.
@@Rozziefeatherschneider I make my living as a singer, so go fuck yourself.

Weird version of this classic song. Not liking anything about this. Everything but the kitchen sink thrown in.
To be honest I didn't like this version
It's a shortened, water downed version with no light effects. Watch the version I posted and you'll see a big difference.
