DUCK HUNTING Texas | HUGE FLOCKS On Public Land (Sub-Zero Temps)
Вставка

- Hunting in sub-zero temperatures in Texas is something that I never thought I'd get to do. However, when the Arctic blast hit this past January the temps plummeted and the ducks showed up big time! Owen and I headed out to try hunting a public land marsh on a lake that I was hoping would have enough open water to hold some of the more hearty birds like mallards, pintails, and teal. It ended up being a morning full of surprises with some great decoying action, huge flocks, and unexpected visitors in the spread. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!

I wish it was cold now lol.
No, kidding
Haha I could go for some cold weather but not quite that cold!
@@HokeOutdoors whats a good place to kayak hunt this year up north. Im in Georgetown, TX
@@RaulCPena hey man I have a kayak we should get together sometime for a hunt
@@ulisesjaramillo9019 lets do it.
I've been putting off watching the hunting videos because I get all into gear a little to early but Id say it's about that time boys!
It's damn near duckmas eve! Best of luck to you this season!
@@HokeOutdoors yessir! Thank you brother same to you!
Ah yes, my jealously for your ability to travel places where there are ducks continues. Nice work Hoke, hope another great season ahead. Beautiful Sprig
Hope you have a great season as well, keep on the great content with the rice pond! Hope that 4th seeding of millet is that ticket!
Going for the 1st time this year. Got new waders and everything. Super excited!!
Good luck this season! Hope you "catch the bug" as we call it!
Texas waterfowl baby
My favorite state to duck hunt!
Keep up the great work. If ever you attend a sportsman show or give a clinic in Ontario, let us know. Would love to meet you.
Thanks Maurice! I'll let you know if I make it up there anytime soon, would love to meet you as well!
Looking forward to the start of Minnesota season
I can't wait, hope it's a great one for you!
@HokeOutdoors you as well and God bless
This was the best cold front we had in Texas last season. We saw huge flocks of mallards and snow geese where I hunted.
It was a pretty wild one for sure! Were y'all hunting in a field or over water during the cold snap?
@@HokeOutdoors we set up in a sheltered cove of a lake and broke ice. The snows had no interest in landing but the mallards were coming in steady all morning.
Good day when hoke posts!
Always appreciate you watching!
Missing a cinnamon teal has gotta be the hardest thing to comprehend...
No doubt! It was particularly tough cause we didn't even get to shoot at it since I mis-identified it coming in
Every time I think about duck hunting I remember when I had a pack of three fly like 10 yards in front of me. I was like what is that, then by the time I realized they were long gone.
Keep up the great videos.
Thanks Maurice! Always appreciate you watching!
I was out there on the same day some where around you and I saw same size pintail flock mallards and green wing teal all day it was best day ever
It was a special one for sure! I never thought I'd watch a TX lake freeze during a mid-day hunt. Did y'all get some birds that day??
@@HokeOutdoors yes it was great season here I never had a chance to see this many pintails
I will send you some pictures tomorrow
Great video as usual.
Thanks Nasser!
Another good one.
Thanks much!
That Pintail would go on the wall
I would've if I didn't have one at the taxidermist already!
Muy fácinantes videos de cazeria amigos saludos chevre caza 🇪🇨🇪🇨🇪🇨
I’m heading to the expo too!
Nice pintIl
Thanks much!
When you hunted in Alaska, were you hunting in anchorage or a different town. I’m from anchorage and new to waterfowl and wanting to know. Thanks! Great content!
I appreciate it! I was hunting down on the Kenai Peninsula, although if you're in Anchorage I would check out the rivers that dump in right there to the east
Do you plan on making it down this year to north Texas? Would love to go on a hunt with you I have a few spots we could hit depending on weather
I appreciate it! It's always a last minute trip when I decide to go but I certainly hope I can make it down there again this year. If I'm able to plan it out a little bit in advance this season I can let you know and we can definitely try to line something up!
I decided to fish a bass tourney during this front. Lake was full of ducks🤦🏻♂️
Hahaha I bet you were regretting that decision all day! I've absolutely been there before on days I decided to scout instead of hunt though!
Love your videos have you ever hunted in Wisconsin?
Thanks Isaac! I haven't hunted WI yet, hoping to make it down there at some point though!
Thomas are you gonna be in Oshkosh for the expo?
Yep! I'll be in the DRC booth and giving a seminar on the main stage at 10AM as well!
❤❤ which choke you recommend for early season Teals
I'd go with an improved cylinder or light modified
Where was this? Have you ever been to Choke Canyon?
Hi dude
How are you
Been doing great! How about you?
What kind of kayak is that
Old town?
Yep, Old Town Discovery 119
Where were you hunting? I'm new to TX and looking for a finger in the right direction.
Due to the amount of internet scouting these days I can't say much besides that this was in North Texas. There's a good bit of public lakes up there, it's not easy hunting by any means but if you put in your work scouting you'll find some birds!
@@HokeOutdoors I'm going scouting in 2 weeks so hopefully I find a roost and then a place from there! I'm hunting South TX so that doesn't help much!
Idk why you are having the charging handle issues. My charging handle in my Franchi takes a ton of force to remove. Just unfortunate cause I know you lost one before as well
This was actually the only time I've lost it, I did have it pop out once before but I was able to recover it. I think both times that it happened was due to my sling getting wrapped around it
What duck calls do you use?
DRC Calls! I used the Harlot all last season, fantastic range and very easy to operate even on those cold days!
@@HokeOutdoors thanks for the feedback
