Propane heater and a insulated ice shack. They aren't cold 😉
Once that heater is ripping it warms up quick.
Once winter comes atleast here in the midwest hr body adjusts and layers are everything ur not cold at all really if your dressed properly and burning calories

I love how excited you guys get for each other when you catch a fish, and how you both always help the other by pulling the fish up out of the ice. It’s so good to see real friendship and mutual respect and admiration. And it’s sweet how you both care about each other’s wellbeing, Mav making sure that Murray eats well and Murray looking out for Mav making it cool to get extra sleep because your friend is sick. That’s what it’s all about. If you don’t have good friends in life, you don’t have anything. It’s wonderful seeing young adults really supporting each other and encouraging each other and going out into the world to find adventure and truly live. Also, I just love it when my two favorite UA-camrs are in the same video! Keep up the good work, guys!

The clothing makes a phenomenal difference. I can be very comfortable at -5F or so with proper gear, the most important being smart wool base layer. If you are comfortable temp wise and don't have gear that is cold when damp, it makes the temp a non issue. You know it's cold when your nose hairs freeze instantly and the snow is so cold it crackles. Good times.
How can you hate on Mav. Man’s just living his best life and keeps his real friends close around him.

As a guy from GA y'all can have those temps. No thank you. I do alot of not really camping but myself. But when it gets a little bit cold I go turn up the thermostat in my camper. I can handle our 20s and 30s but below zero no thank you. I spent a couple weeks in South Dakota a few years ago and the first day the high was minus 5. Which really wasn't bad. But the saying is completely true. Because I been to Alberta for a few weeks several years ago and the air is so much dryer up there compared to down here. Not that minus 20 wasn't cold but it didn't feel so bad compared to 25 here with wet air and it's completely freezing. Y'all definitely know how to deal with the cold way better than we do.

I can handle the 20-30 degree weather because I hunt but I’ll tell you sitting 15 foot up a tree in a ladder stand and the wind blowing like crazy it feels like it’s 10 degrees. I don’t know much about Georgia’s weather because I don’t travel to Georgia a lot but in Alabama the weather is so inconsistent, like last week the high was in the 40’s and tomorrow the high is 73, that’s the only thing I hate about Alabama in the winter time. But when it gets summer time it’ll always be hot as hell.
oh my gosh those fish were big! when I was a kid my Dad took me fishing on Lake Michigan and I caught a 25 pound coho! I still think about that, 40 years later! fishing is the best!

Hey bud, a quick tip for cold weather cooking, make a stock ahead of time and freeze it into cubes. Drop it into any dish along with a bit of water to add a buttload of flavor. If you are doing a stock get some bones/carcass of your preferred meats, add to a pot with water then add a onion celery carrot garlic peppercorns etc. Keep on truckin bruv!

Mav! You’ve inspired me to take a road trip across the country. I just graduated college and I live in North Carolina. We rarely get temperatures under 15 Fahrenheit where I live. My first night in South Dakota got down to -2 which is the coldest weather I’ve experienced. I really love the snow considering I didn’t get to see much of it growing up and that’s why I decided to do this trip in the winter. I’m still on my trip, currently in Idaho. I’m doing this trip in an AWD Acura MDX so it’s very possible to do this with a car. Thanks for the inspiration Mav!

I’ve always loved doing it, always important to check the amount of ice there is with an auger but anywhere past 6 inches is definitely safe! You’d be surprised at all the vehicles you will see on the ice during a fishing derby in the northeast

Throwing delicious freshwater trout back into the water so that they can cook the box Zatarain’s jambalaya. Man I would be slicing that fish into some sushi on the spot and dipping it in some soy sauce with some wasabi chaser and maybe a bite of ginger. Yummm!!!You don’t get those opportunities too often.
Love that you and your sidekick are building memories together. I didn’t notice if you two were wearing the ice pick pins that you pass through your jacket and across your shoulders. It lets you claw your way out of the water and drag yourself across the ice if you fall through. If you have them, can you share what company you use?

My dad is from Michigan, but we have lived in South Carolina my whole life (28 years). I want to take him ice fishing so he can re-experience some of his childhood. Your videos have taught me a lot. Still a little nervous to go out over the ice though. We don't have that down here lol.

I just learned that Lake Winnipeg in Canada has 4 species of lake trout. One was fifty pounds, caught a few years ago, and was 65 years old. Lake Winnipeg is the tenth biggest lake on the planet. One day I would like to see you do a few videos fishing there and see what you catch. Pax.
