It’s ok. I’d rather live here than the US I think. I’m pretty well off so I know I’m luckier than most, but I would hate to be living in poverty in this country. Being poor in the UK is worse than any other country. There is a massive class divide here, life seems a lot more shitty for poorer people here than other countries.

Yes, he does indeed, but, please, don't buy into "he's all natural", because he ain't. I lift myself and know guys who lift and also pin. They won't admit it on the outside because of stigma or other - it varies from cultural to psychological reasons not to.

I feel you missed the point of the video. It to educate on how this condition is able to consume someone's life and headspace. Enough so, it leads to some dying because of it. It's called 'bigorexia' for a reason. Saying he looks so good, is similar to saying to a girl who is starving herself with anorexia and being overly critical she looks good. Even though she may end up dying because of the way she's treating her body. It's not okay and feeds the illness.
@@JayMoney-hd1jl Is that from "Lone survivor" lol. it's a good movie. This quote comes from the military mindset. This quote specifically comes from The UDT Navy Seal Diver ethos (The Frogmen). The whole" keep going until you die" is nothing more than military mindset propaganda to keep soldiers from quitting the fight. It is short sighted and only serves one purpose. Outside of that reason for which it was created, it is useless and dangerous and as such should be forgotten; or at least evolved to fit a different use. What it has in absolutely motivating testosterone FUCK YEAH MURICA, " lets kick some ass!" it lacks in real world wisdom for anyone else. It is a wonderful mindset to have to keep you alive in the worst of times, but it fails when there is no war to fight. What happens when you have no motivation or reason to "push forward and fight"? What happens when the worst you have to do is get a 9-5 job and just make enough money to feed the kids? What happens when survival is no longer an immediate day-to-day worry? i'll let you figure that out. I agree with the idea that in order to become the best at something you need to be obsessed with it. "time is god's currency"- Me For instance, Marco Pierre White (FYI, The famous chef that was the youngest ever to win a michelin star and was mentor of Gordon Ramsay) said he worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week in the kitchen to perfect his passion. But he ,after winning the michelin stars and becoming the best known chef in the world, said he was still not satisfied and even quit professionally cooking for a while because it had become boring to him. long story short, you can never be satisfied with acquiring things and emotions. the only time the race is exciting is when the race is still happening. When you hit the finish line, then what? You're not done with life, you didn't die. what next then? Stop looking for finish lines and enjoy the race. For there are no finish lines in life except for the ones we humans have made. For every mountain, there is a valley. Just enjoy the moment and try to learn to enjoy the race.
Here’s a little secret to saying someone’s got muscular dysmorphia. They say they got this problem because then the GP can prescribe testosterone replacement therapy which is like a steroid and they’ll get bigger quicker gains
Muscle dudes may eat a lot and pump iron compulsively and they *may* take roids but: 1. They don't drink bloody alcohol. 2. They don't smoke and 3. They get eight hours of sleep a night, and 4. They have mental focus in their lives, which is as good as meditation. So try and do all those before you start accusing the beefy lads of being sick.
I have given up drinking: it was ruining my life, emptying my bank account, and making me an anxious wreck and awful to live with. I have given up smoking, it was ruining my life and making me depressed. I sleep well now that I have done 1 and 2. I meditate and practice mindfulness along with lifting weights, I use a little cannabis for parties and sessions, eat a bodybuilding diet and occasionally use performance enhancing drugs, under medical supervision. I do like muscle: I was a slender child and I enjoy being around 200lbs for my six feet and not fat. I would not say I'm a muscle maniac but I look very well for my age and I try not be obsessed with anything to the point that it unbalances my life and relationships.
Yes, and most bodybuilders eat a lot of chicken or meat each day. Just for their gains. Think for a moment about the Climate change. Although I know a vegetarian “bodybuilder”. Lots of respect for that guy.
while giving up drinking and smoking is good, eating like crazy and, what's even worse, building your entire life around eating in a certain way is ridiculous. And i seriously doubt that feeding yourself like a pig in a slaughter house, even with healthy food, is in anyway healthy.
@@shobhitsniper4979 doesn't look like he is on roids at all 3-6 years of decent consistent work can achieve that easily - even if he was skinny beforehand. However if he was beefier than normal I would say even faster to achieve that body.
You can tell by that first guy how much it was stressing him out. I had OCD about muscular imbalance and the way he was flexing and speaking made me anxious as hell. The way his eyes looked you could tell his mind was racing crazy in a place that doesn’t stop screaming. He’s going to think about it at work and it will be at the front of his mind the entire day. I hope his mind and body find rest, satisfaction and happiness.
Worst thing is when you're aware of your own irrational standards and don't lack the logic, but you still despise yourself and can't find peace of mind..
he can't. he's on a high dose of trenbolone, and that thing makes you literally sweat all the time, even at night, in the morning your bedsheet will be soaked. That's why people on tren has to put shower towels on their bed or they gotta wash the sheets every day.
i dont know how u are rn dude but I hope u are able to find a way out of it. I used to feel bad about my body as the more I critiqued myself in the mirror. But one day I really looked at myself and saw my stretch marks, striations, etc. And then I remebered how I started off and what truly drove me to workout. I was disatisfied about my body and my mental state so I decided to make a change. I fell in love with the soreness and the pain and the conitnual improvement. So now after I am in the best shape in my life and still continuing this journey, why should I feel sad? I should feel proud about my body and cherish it. I so started to love it and now I am making some of the best progress I have made.
+Plum The guy in the red vest with glasses is big but certainly not massive, especially when you compare him to the guy in the background at 10:45 who has that 'thick' look...
"Pradeep looks in great shape. He's not taking steroids. Instead he eats well and works out." There are 3 statements in that sentence and only 2 of them are true.
I have a friend who is like this; he’s massive and the strongest person I know, and yet it’s just never enough. It makes him so vulnerable to depression, anxiety and he can come across as narcissist and obsessed. It’s heartbreaking.
Silly kids with no idea what their doing. Should all look at public figures like Bruce Lee and his physic when he was alive. Pradeep is like the coolest guy you could ever hangout with. But you won`t, because he`s either cutting, bulking, working out, sleeping or still working out.
I can relate so much with this first guy, I'm honestly sometimes so disgusted by the way that I look that I am just so sad, embarrassed, and I feel like I don't want anyone to see me because I feel and think I look so horrible. my heart goes out to all the people with body dysmorphia and depression
Yep. No matter how many times people say I look great it’s not what I see in the mirror. I think people say that because they know I’m dismorphic and not because I have a good body

It's really sad to see people with such great bodies, like that first dude from UK, being completely disgusted with themselves. I mean people would literally kill for such body and he can't look himself in a mirror and be satisfied, it's truly sad.
+Chris Helheim it is not sad because of what you think, but because they can't achieve want they want(because they don't have the support and the genetics).. it is a dream.. you want to be big enough to success on the biggest bodybuilding compatition you don't care at all about others opinion of your body.. you just care about your dream personal i don't have the same dreams because i think it is not worth it for me but that doesn't mean that i can't understand someone who have that dream and call him that he suffer from bigorexia... so i suffer from doctorexia too? because i want to be a doctor? hah!
+giannhg13 You do realise those two can't even be compared? :D Because you becoming a doctor can't hurt anyone (besides your financial status...I'm a student too...I feel ya man) but him not seeing himself right and being ignorant towards how great he actually looks may scar him for life? It actually did, when he said he can't look at him self and is disgusted by what he sees. Because when I see him I see nothing to be disgusted about :D he looks fucking great, better than I do or will probably. It's one thing objectively looking at your self or your actions and being reasonable about it, but looking at something without realising how good it is and what you've done is just not healthy. Your view becomes distorted and you'll never be satisfied with your work which can lead to deeper mental issues. I'm not a bodybuilder myself, I've decided to follow the path of martial arts, but I find the mind of a bodybuilder interesting and sad. Yes, the point of the sport (and the dream as you've said it) is to become bigger than the guy next to you but it has to be done right mentally and physically. I can even understand the state of mind of realising you've reached your genetic potential and you need that extra enhancement so you turn to other substances, but neglecting the facts and being blind towards what's in front of you is just sad.
+Chris Helheim Average mentality.. there are hundreds of thousands of people who cycle on and off steroids and do fine; either these guys ABUSED THEM or they had a pre-existing condition. Of course; you'd rather kill for that body because 90% of the population don't want to work for it. so what if he's not satisified? it means he wants to be better.. just like how a millionaire wants to become richer? I suppose you should make up some sort of disorder for that too, Richorexia? lol?
+the pain I usually tend not to reply too much on the comments and keep my opinion for myself; not getting enagaged in useless arguments :D but here I think as if a lot of people misinterpreted the message of the video. People do cycle on/off the gear and do fine, I do support that part of your comment. But a lot of people (including me) do work their asses off for great bodies but are at the same time aware of their progress, achievements, potential and what will it take to make that step further. But being unsatisfied and wanting more is the secondary ''problem'' of this video, of course we are all hungry for more but here is a much bigger picture. A millionaire is not disgusted by what he had made throughout the years of hard work. Howerever this guy, regardless of his achievements, can't stand to look himself in the mirror and sees himself as forever a small guy, which is far, far from what he should actually see; far from the truth. Like I said before, we can all be obsessed by certain things; bodybuilding, painting, music, money, but if we get to a state of mind which distorts the view of that reality then that's not right. We should be hungry for more and achieve more, neverthless. But we should aswell be aware of our state in a reasonable fashion, be objective and mindful, not blind. He did say, later on, in the video that he's working on his ''condition'' and that he realises such behaviour is leading him down a wrong path, so props to him. I'm not the one to judge, I have no right to, but many people will mutilate their bodies and change them in extreme ways because they're disgusted by what they see in the mirror. In many, many cases they are completely wrong. I do consider that to be a problem, not only in bodybuilding.
The guy featured throughout the video, right? If yes, OMG, I agree 300%. He looks like perfection, and I still feel like that word doesn't do his appearance justice. I can't believe he feels like he hasn't surpassed his goals...
that's pretty much like all bodybuilders think, it's not that you don't like your body, but the work is never done, there is always room for improvement.

Also he has huge traps and delts, as well as oversized quads. All signs of possible usage. Also he talks about some of his muscle groups lagging behind others. Generally this doesn't happen that much to natural lifters. If i knew his weight/height/bf% I could easily do some calculations to prove he is fake natty. Besides using steroids is a crime, so who would like to admit to committing crime? And for your information 90% of the men on a fitness magazine are on steroids. Half of the problem is the secretive side of body building. Top level bodybuilders will claim they don't use steroids/growth hormones/ diuretics/insulin until they're blue in the face, this leads teenagers to believe all this is achievable by just drinking protein shakes and working out. Once they really become involved in the lifestyle and discover the truth a few tablets or a few needles a week doesn't seem that much more of a sacrifice. Next minute they are pumped full of hormones and eating 7 meals a day.

There will be people who look at this guy thinking he's 'crazy, ungrateful or lucky.' 6:58 Yeah, expect the standards for women are MUCH lower, and most male physiques displayed in the media are actually unachievable naturally. First, the standard for women is just to have low body fat with no real muscle development, which is literally the starting point for a guy, at this stage he is just a skinny whimp. After that he needs at least a few years of bulking and cutting, with consistent training and good diet to put on a decent amount of muscle mass. The standard for men is low body fat combined with high muscle mass, which is the hardest combination to achieve. Second, the vast majority of physiques is media are enhanced, from men using all sorts of performance enhancing drugs. Steroids are incredibly common, and not just among competitive bodybuilders, most male models of social media who keep growing big and staying shredded are on some sort of drug. So men are bombarded with standards that are actually unachievable.
To be completey fair for our ladies here, they do have some "standards" (though in reality no one truly gives a shit, but neither do people for men, it's as we all know "merely" the media standard that we all think we need to achieve) that they can't even achieve without surgery. I mean, the same is sort of true with men, with having this "amazing" jawline and whatnot. But having huge boobs and a big ass isn't necessarily things a skinny chick can achieve either by just working out, so that's kinda a genetic thing (or surgery) as well. Granted the "models" we see don't have those, they are just sort of shredded and that's it, but then again so are the male models, don't confuse models with fitness models. Most models or actors (in movies) aren't actually that big. There's this movie with Ryan Gossling in a scene with a chick saying he looks photoshopped, when he barely hits 10% bodyfat with a little bit of muscle mass. I mean I don't disagree on there being some sort of push that implies men should look like the Rock or Arnold, incredibly tall and massive looking whilst shredded, but there's also the push that says you can be a skinny/summer beach motherfucker and still hit it. The only thing that comes in the way of that is the saying of men having to be "strong and muscular" (which is more of a mindset than a set picture in our heads) - The entire topic is so illusive, there's all kinds of standards and you can't meet them all. I think there are only a few "actual/real" standards my dude, shit like be "x" tall and be slim/athletic looking, but not actually too big, those are standards that actual chicks will throw at you, not just some weird socia media thing you might never actually encounter if you don't give a shit.
I highly disagree with You as a woman. Women's ideal body type is not just being thin, that's outdated and uneducated point of view. First of all it's not easy to loose weight for everyone. People who have type 2 diabetes in families, in general have worse glucose metabolism and higher storage of fat, so they need to exercise more than healthy population. Often obese people have mutations in receptors of neurons (brain cells) that control appetite, so for them control of appetite is much harder than for normal person, e.g. MC4R mutations. 2. women are expected these days to have very thin waist (sign of low % fat percentage) and large breasts and butts (high fat), which is not achievable without surgery for many body types or clothes that modify body shape. Just look at any female character drawn and you will see very fast how unreal the body types are. Women are expected to have perfect skin, not everyone has genes for that, there are chronic hormone issues that only affect female part of population, e.g. PCOS and people who have that illness have chronic acne and will never have clear skin even with heavy painful treatments like laser therapies or retinoids. Also pressure for women to become muscular also increases in our times and pretty sure that this form of body dysmorphia is present in women as well. Women are expected to have long hair with high volume, not everyone has hair that has high thickness or hair growth to sustain long hair. A lot of women spend shit ton of money on hair extensions or wigs just to have ideal hair. My body dysmorphia has worsened when I started training and now I can carry on until point of injury and even further just to prevent missing out a training or otherwise I will develop fear of loosing muscle and getting fatter. 4. Let's remember that women had to deal with pressure to look well for centuries (evidence of make up usage by women reaches as far back as ancient Egypt) unlike men for whom this type of issue is recent. More women have died due to anorexia and bulimia than men due to muscle dysmorphia. 6. dieting and keeping weight in check also involves training for many years, fasting/cutting periods, lots of hard work, just the same amount as growing muscle 5. women are still in certain countries forbidden to go school, drive or vote, cannot own land etc. Lastly, I am not saying this to be disrespectful to male suffers of muscular dysmorphia, but by saying women have it easier or lower standards of ideal body type, this is absolute bullshit!
@@Aratrok1 Big butts are achievable by working out. Those butts are even better than the 'fat distribution-mostly-around-ass- butts' breasts of course are mainly genetics, but personally I like all well shaped ones that are just not too big. Agata Czap no what you typed is complete bullshit. Staying lean is much easier than staying leaning and building muscle mass, you got that wrong and the rest of your rambles are ridiculous sorry
@@HeyhitmeBAM You are being ridiculous. All of that is based from my experience as female and that of other women, from biology at university level and from societal pressures women face. Also women aren't required just to stay lean! And being lean also means certain level of muscle mass that must be sustained anyway. I know how real this state of mind is. I was in the army and got posted overseas for 12 months, with nothing to do in my spare time but go to the gym. The whole time I was doing it, I’d look in the mirror and couldn’t see any gains. I stopped lifting once I got home. At the end of those 12 months I had a picture taken of my physique, I look back at that photo now and realise how good my body looked at the time, seems crazy that I couldn’t see it back then.
I’ve personally dealt with body dysmorphia in the form of anorexia. It’s strange because I knew I had a problem and consciously tried to make the shift to an obsession with strong muscles but failed and got deeper into anorexia. That’s really what it’s all about: obsession. Luckily I’ve reached that middle ground for a body I’m happy with but make no mistake that either end of the spectrum isn’t healthy because you’re exhausting your body at each end, just in different ways.

For a guy to look up to a good girls standards, A LOT of exercise and thought into what you are eating has to be done, if you dont have monster genes. A woman/girls body is often a lot more naturally beatiful than a guys, and the standard "muscle" wise is a lot higher for the men.
It is changing more and more every day for girls as well with the whole instagram fitness movement. But for a girl it is basically, be kinda cute and dont be fat. For a guy, be 190cm tall and ripped or else ur fucked.
+Martin Madsen That's not really what we're talking about. We're not talking about personality in terms of attractiveness, we're talking physically. We're talking about how much effort it takes a male vs. female to appear physically attractive. Did you not read anything Doggepp even said?
I believe lots of people with muscle dysmorphia were socially excluded at an early age because of their physique. My gym buddy actually had a discussion about it. We were both fat when we were young so working out is a form of revenge.

Thanks for watching Chris. Glad you found it interesting.
+Chris Helheim it is not sad because of what you think, but because they can't achieve want they want(because they don't have the support and the genetics).. it is a dream.. you want to be big enough to success on the biggest bodybuilding compatition
you don't care at all about others opinion of your body.. you just care about your dream
personal i don't have the same dreams because i think it is not worth it for me but that doesn't mean that i can't understand someone who have that dream and call him that he suffer from bigorexia... so i suffer from doctorexia too? because i want to be a doctor? hah!
+giannhg13 You do realise those two can't even be compared? :D
Because you becoming a doctor can't hurt anyone (besides your financial status...I'm a student too...I feel ya man) but him not seeing himself right and being ignorant towards how great he actually looks may scar him for life?
Im so blown away by the first guy. Hes beautiful, that's awful he feels that way.

Yep. Totally agree. But if they did the right thing and admitted it, they lose their Celltech sponsorship, which in all reality is paying for their test and GH.
What popular bodybuilder hides his use of steriods. All of the olympia competitors admit it... Do ur research.

+Andrew Payne The reddit r/bodybuilding id laughing at this video bc they are the guys you people think have bigorexia. Im sure there are body builders who claim to be natty, but the most popular ones like sadik, big ramy, etc are sponsored by companies that promote steroids and anyone who follows a bodybuilder should know that they use steroids. Also, no disrespect to them, because its not automatic muscle when you take steroids. Thank you, dont mean to kill the mood, but just an opinion from a teen who actually follows bodybuilders.
One thing that crushed my muscle dysmorphia at least temporary was taking psylocybin mushrooms and looking at myself in the mirror. I was a real trip. So true.
"Why can't you just do the work like a machine?" Those words stuck with me ever since I saw this documentary.
6:58 Yeah, expect the standards for women are MUCH lower, and most male physiques displayed in the media are actually unachievable naturally.
And then there are also a lot of guys who get completely turned on by Z cup breasts.
Obviously, this comment slot is filled with narrow-minded, ignorant men who never gave a fuck to consider perspective of the other gender. And yes women these days are expected to lift to get nice butt and nice breasts. Just check easily instagram posts, perfect example!

I stopped lifting once I got home. At the end of those 12 months I had a picture taken of my physique, I look back at that photo now and realise how good my body looked at the time, seems crazy that I couldn’t see it back then.
I had the same experience but in college when I trained for basketball...thank you for serving our country.
I’ve personally dealt with body dysmorphia in the form of anorexia. It’s strange because I knew I had a problem and consciously tried to make the shift to an obsession with strong muscles but failed and got deeper into anorexia. That’s really what it’s all about: obsession.

For me, I was small when I was younger, inoffensive and easy to push around. Getting big was a massive realtiation for me and it was very easy for me to get carried away with my image. I've learned to keep ontop of those feelings and know that working out is a small part of my whole life. Its more a hobby of mine rather than a MAIN thing I do now and I enjoy it for that.
The issue is - For a woman to look good - Just dont eat like a hippo and maybe take a walk once in a while. For a guy to look up to a good girls standards, A LOT of exercise and thought into what you are eating has to be done, if you dont have monster genes.
A woman/girls body is often a lot more naturally beatiful than a guys, and the standard "muscle" wise is a lot higher for the men.
Very true!
It is changing more and more every day for girls as well with the whole instagram fitness movement. But for a girl it is basically, be kinda cute and dont be fat. For a guy, be 190cm tall and ripped or else ur fucked.
