Worst cars are the most expensive ones! Vehicles that cost upwards of $80,000 with defective transmissions, coolant leaks and engines with slipping timing chains?? Really?! That’s inexcusable. These high end manufacturers ought to be ashamed of themselves! I’ve seen more BMW’s on the side of the road and on the back of the tow truck than K-Cars! Absolutely shameful.
Leasing is what’s happened. Luxury Car makers aren’t interested in making long lasting cars when rich people trade them in to have a new car every 3 years. A Mercedes dealer actually said to my parents while he laughed “nobody “buys” these”. There goes long term quality. But we do live in a throw away society (for everything). So no surprise.
In the first year these are alll under warranty and (often) maintenance plans. There is zero additional cost, so I am skeptical of how much long term maintenance costs affect a decision to dump a car in year one!! These are all entry lux models; my guess is people think they can swing that $599 a month lease and in a few months realize a $300 a month car meets their needs just fine.
wow listening to you its shaky ground when picking your next vehicle , but back here in the UK for buying a discounted 1 owner 1 year old from a legitimate franchised dealership is peeps/company or private that have either reversed the mileage or put a mileage blocker on it till the vehicles first official service , so example is some vehicles have 12000 miles or 12 months or 24,000 or 2 years . The digital readout could be showing 2,500 miles say after a year but it could have seen 20,000 miles of driving. NIGHTMARE . certain companies supplying the blockers actually quote that it doesnt record the TRUE mileage and cant be traced by the ecu part.
When you buy a new 2022 Nissan Rogue, drive it 2300 miles and the electrical system intermittently stops working when starting the vehicle, you go to Toyota and trade it in for a new 2023 Rav4.
X3 BMW I bought mine off my own Lease it's a great reliable vehicle. We Still love the way it drives. The tires bother me they don't seem to last and they are run flat tires no spare in truck. Brakes are expensive to change through Dealer go to your local mechanic they are still expensive but not as bad.
The latest generation X3s have come a long way in terms of reliability. The maintenance costs are high, but they are for just about all luxury vehicles these days. If someone is selling / trading a car after a year, it means they are either scared or bored and ready to move on.
Versus were cool by me! I had gotten their more updated model at the time back in 2k16, as well as to owning it for 5 years before eventually upgrading and moving on to more a dream-goal vehicle!
I'm stunned as well as a previous commentor. I've just leased a new C300 after our experiences with them for the past 10+ years have been exceptional. Not one time have we had a mechanical issue or any issue for that matter. Not a one! The C class fits me perfectly and I love the handling.
My last car was a 4 year lease. I just had to change a tire in four years. Actually, I didn't want to turn it in. That being said I love, love this new 2024 C . Years ago, I did own 1995 C220 that I kept for 15 yrs, the only 2 repairs were brake pads and belts, not to shabby for a 15 years. My experience with these cars has been good. You may know something I don't, I can only base my assessments on my own experience.
9:27 and 9:58 Umm that's not the tail light going opaque, that's water, you need to take that in ASAP now and switch that out as the seal has failed and its letting water in, which will if left alone, start to screw up the wiring harness and the electronics as it throws the grounds out of wack and introduces corrison and iron into the system, which can cause a short and a failure, and or fire if bad enough
I just traded my new Lexus in under a year. Yes, a costly mistake but hey, you only live once. I got another Audi for a more comfortable, enjoyable ride. There was a lot of good tech in the Lexus but shockingly, in my NX350 F Sport the engine was NOISY!!. Had zero get up and go off the line. This was the first impulse purchase I ever made and I paid the price. Got a decent deal on a new SQ5.
@@ThisoldhikerIt’s a nicer car than a RAV4 for sure. In fact, there is lot of tech in the Lexus that is better than the Audi. I could live with the engine noise, road noise, modestly ok handling, etc. if the damn thing had some giddy up. At speed - e.g. from 25-60 acceleration - it was decent. But really a dull car overall. I will never go back to Lexus. MAYBE Genesis if I feel more confident about them. Never a Mercedes. I am not a big enough jerk to drive any BMW. If I had really deep pockets, I would consider a Macan. Best way to go is a low mileage, very recent vintage, certified Macan S. Get maybe 5.5 years total warranty, unlimited mileage (or is it to 100K miles?).
Note' I have a 2013 BMW 328i, I change engine oil and filter every 3000 miles as advised by independent certified BMW .mechanics along with other checks on this vehicle with an n20 engine and have had none of the problems that are described. Either I am lucky or the old time mechanics know something we don't, No oil leaks or coolant leaks anywhere.what do you think?
Stunned. I was in agreement with the list all the way until #1. I have leased a new (service loaner) C300 every 3 years for the past 10+ years. I LOVE them and have never had a major issue with any of mine. Yes, service would be expensive were it not for the warranty, but the same can be said for all luxury brands. My dealer keeps trying to get me to move to an E class, but I love the size and handling on the C, so I don't want to make that jump and keep going with the C class. I've had far fewer problems with any of my MB's as opposed to the BMW's I've had in the past - which seemed to be in the shop every other month. Anecdotal, but that has been my experience.
Agree. A friend bought a C300 with AMG package, not the AMG model. It was a dealer car for two years. It looked brand new, inside, outside. It came with 3 year warranty. That was six years ago. The car has never had a problem. For maintenance, he uses an independent Mercedes repair guy. A man and his son. They come to your house or work to do most routine maintenance. They charge about 55% of what a dealer charges. Mercedes (and Porsche) interiors are like no other car. Ancedotal, yes. But when it's you, who cares? LOL
I had a 2017 bmw 340 ix The body leaked air through all the doors Dealership couldn’t fix it as they couldn’t determine what was causing the doors to leak. (Its was really bad in below freezing temperatures) I got rid of it after two years and bought a Lexus RX350
Weird. Those cars are extremely solid and most desirable car to buy now. You definitely just got a lemon. It happens with every manufacturer. Sounds like a weird story, dealer couldn’t fix gaskets. Easy to do.

Let’s get real , despite reliability issues in most of European vehicles is not a secret that repairs and maintenance are very expensive in those cars , however usually people who buy a Range Rover (for example) won’t touch the car with 10 feet pole, only gas( probably 87) and let’s go ! Besides oil change prices on those beautiful machines NOBODY is going to use the best oil for your car unless you buy it yourself and you see with your own eyes how the mechanic is putting into your car engine, so dealers and shop operators use a low quality oil or at least cheaper than the one you would buy for your car, increasing the possibility of more engine problems like those you mentioned.
My dentist had a brand new Jaguar. It was on a Superbowl ad of all things. He didn't even have it a year. It spent its first 8 months in the shop, so he traded it in while it was in the shop. It only drove maybe 6 times without it having to be towed. Best looking piece of junk you ever saw.
Great video brother. I have two Mercedes (2021 GLC 300 & 2018 C300) and have had them for 2 years now. No worries so far. Very reliable at this point. The dealer in Washinton State takes care of me. I would recommend these vehicles to anyone.
I have an acquaintance who owns a range Rover and he's had nothing but problems it stays in the shop just recently his back window went all the way down for no reason so stupid but he thinks it's a status symbol but it shows ignorance
Most of high end European cars, namely Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar and others are well known for their elegant, stylish looking and expensive. But their low quality and maintenance cost are just ridiculous. Only good for rich businessmen as they give them the ‘status’.
I'm hurt!! My 2011 Jaguar XF made the list. I got that same model since 2012, 128083 miles, I love that car, I'm familiar with the problems that you mentioned, but I still love it. It's not that hard on my wallet tho, I bring it to my local mechanic, not the dealership after warranty was off.

And there it is. Range Rover. Not built to drive in cities. They are heavy cars so it’s rough on the brakes. Brake jobs are about $4k and with this puppy, you need about 2X a year. Sad. Great car but it needs the right driving conditions. Open road and off road. Not city.
If you are spending new Range Rover money it should be engineered to provide good service whether it's driven in the city the suburbs the country or off-road. Many other vehicles are capable of doing that at a fraction of the price.

Maybe you should've bought a Kia rather than that Mercedes. I've had three bought brand-new since 2012 and never had a notable problem. Minor stuff few and far between. Fuel pump went bad in the first a 2012 Turbocharged AWD Sportage, under warranty. Nothing else for the life of the car and traded it in 2016 for an identical new one. Second was a 2013 Rio. Had it for 90,000 miles without even a license plate light burning out. Sold it to my boss and his kid totaled it. Third is a 2016 Turbocharged AWD Sportage. Knock sensor went bad at 95,000 miles and was replaced. Nothing else so far. All that compared to a 2011 Toyota Camry that we bought brand new in that year. Damned thing was leaking oil on our driveway because the robot that sealed the oil pan was out of calibration. Took it straight to Kia and traded it in. Bottom line is that any car these days can be troublesome. Depends on what robot was having issues that day.
Awesome as always. Reliability issues are from every auto maker. Entry level models are ones to stay away from. Most people who want the luxury brands but cannot afford more premium models end up in entry level styles. I have a Mercedes S560 and it has been amazing. Keep up the great videos and I hope people looking to get into the Luxury car market watch your videos first. Great day to you.
Just love all your stuff. Our '72 XJ 6 was not only one of the most beautiful cars ever made, but it was truly luxurious. (yes I do know that Tata is the one now responsible)
The worst part about the new Lexus and Toyota front end isn't the grille, it's the lip just above it. Totally destroys the rest of the design touches. So unnatural
No engine is perfect, especially in BmW world, however, the B48 is quite good, and much of the stats come from buybacks, dealer demos, and generally the nature of many buyers of these types of cars.
They are very good engines now. It’s their bread and butter engine. B58 6 cylinder is the one you want if you want more power and reliability. Toyota made sure BMW made the B48/58 perfect, as they put their badge on the Supra with both engines.
Pretty spot on. Love the cars and if you want one....Lease and get it out of your system. See them at Auto Zones all the time with hood up, dealers outrages pricing.
I know of some people I worked with, had Toyota Highlander who had engine problems and had to get the engine changed with less than 20,000 miles on them

Same with my E-class wagon. Fragile as hell. I was gentle with it and it still created huge repair costs. Bought a Lexus. @@diegosilang4823
😂😂😂
I don't like the Lexus spindle grills either. But with the RX and GX, at least they're trying.
That’s fair
Worst cars are the most expensive ones! Vehicles that cost upwards of $80,000 with defective transmissions, coolant leaks and engines with slipping timing chains?? Really?! That’s inexcusable. These high end manufacturers ought to be ashamed of themselves! I’ve seen more BMW’s on the side of the road and on the back of the tow truck than K-Cars! Absolutely shameful.
WTF happened to quality control with automobile makers?
Gone by the do do bird for many other than a select few
Leasing is what’s happened. Luxury Car makers aren’t interested in making long lasting cars when rich people trade them in to have a new car every 3 years. A Mercedes dealer actually said to my parents while he laughed “nobody “buys” these”. There goes long term quality. But we do live in a throw away society (for everything). So no surprise.
agree the rich fucks ruin it for everyone else.@@TheDaon13
In the first year these are alll under warranty and (often) maintenance plans. There is zero additional cost, so I am skeptical of how much long term maintenance costs affect a decision to dump a car in year one!! These are all entry lux models; my guess is people think they can swing that $599 a month lease and in a few months realize a $300 a month car meets their needs just fine.
Cheers
Once you add in the down payments that are common these days, what's leasing for under $400 a month? Nissan Versas?
wow listening to you its shaky ground when picking your next vehicle , but back here in the UK for buying a discounted 1 owner 1 year old from a legitimate franchised dealership is peeps/company or private that have either reversed the mileage or put a mileage blocker on it till the vehicles first official service , so example is some vehicles have 12000 miles or 12 months or 24,000 or 2 years . The digital readout could be showing 2,500 miles say after a year but it could have seen 20,000 miles of driving. NIGHTMARE . certain companies supplying the blockers actually quote that it doesnt record the TRUE mileage and cant be traced by the ecu part.
Thanks for sharing
I'm convinced this guys' wife left him for a BMW owner
What?
When you buy a new 2022 Nissan Rogue, drive it 2300 miles and the electrical system intermittently stops working when starting the vehicle, you go to Toyota and trade it in for a new 2023 Rav4.
Nissan has been a disappointment for the last 10 to 15 years. They aren't reliable like they used to be. Toyota, Mazda, and Honda, are far better.
The rogue is utter trash. I traded my Brand new one in in less than a year after it wouldn’t start one day. It was 8 mos old !!!!
Great points and I agree with that
I've had More Issues with my Ford F150 Platinum Loaded than My BMW. BMW definitely more Reliable sadly than an American Made Vehicle.
The latest generation X3s have come a long way in terms of reliability. The maintenance costs are high, but they are for just about all luxury vehicles these days.
If someone is selling / trading a car after a year, it means they are either scared or bored and ready to move on.
Number on bmw : every employee mgr or up gets a company lease, and these get resold after lease.
sad a mercedes falls apart crossing railroad tracks /but funny as hell to
I agree, it is actually sort of hilarious in a sad kind of way. Odd thing to happen
Versus were cool by me! I had gotten their more updated model at the time back in 2k16, as well as to owning it for 5 years before eventually upgrading and moving on to more a dream-goal vehicle!
Cheers
Also the 3 series and the c300 are used in rental fleets that also plays in to that figure 👍
Indeed it dors
I just thought I should mention that that Nissan you just showed was a Nissan kicks
I'm stunned as well as a previous commentor. I've just leased a new C300 after our experiences with them for the past 10+ years have been exceptional. Not one time have we had a mechanical issue or any issue for that matter. Not a one! The C class fits me perfectly and I love the handling.
you are leasing. these MB cars only last 3 years before the problems start ….
@@KendallsMom That’s great. The 2024 C is a beautiful car, hopefully you have the same luck as you did the other ones. :)

I've always loved Jags Mark, but I don't have British car money.

I really don't know how I drove a BMW for 240,000 km without any problems, when everyone on u-tube says it's a trash.
How much maintenance was done on your car?
I just traded my new Lexus in under a year. Yes, a costly mistake but hey, you only live once. I got another Audi for a more comfortable, enjoyable ride. There was a lot of good tech in the Lexus but shockingly, in my NX350 F Sport the engine was NOISY!!. Had zero get up and go off the line. This was the first impulse purchase I ever made and I paid the price. Got a decent deal on a new SQ5.
I agree! I also had a NX350 F Sport in 2022 and the engine sounded so coarse!Audi now all the way 😊
Even at a glance, it doesn't look distinctive enough from it's RAV4 sibling.
Nice honest take on some of the crap vehicles being sold today.
2:30 PONY!! On a Jaguar!!! Oooohhh...you owe a lot of beers for that one. Otherwise, very good & informative video.
Just buy a toyota or a lexus. Then when you pass it on to your grandkids, buy another one.
Great yes they last almost forever
You haven't kept past 3 years. After that is when crap goes to hell
@@GoBills1990 I would agree with most of them, but I have kept 3 until about 120-140K miles (purchased after lease) without any major issues.
Lexus Toyota Acura Honda and Mazda are best reliable cars!
LOL
I had a 2017 bmw 340 ix
The body leaked air through all the doors
Dealership couldn’t fix it as they couldn’t determine what was causing the doors to leak. (Its was really bad in below freezing temperatures)
I got rid of it after two years and bought a Lexus RX350
Weird. Those cars are extremely solid and most desirable car to buy now. You definitely just got a lemon. It happens with every manufacturer.
Sounds like a weird story, dealer couldn’t fix gaskets. Easy to do.
@@ryanb8736 I thought so as well. It was my third one.
The first one lasted 20 year.
I had my second one for 8 years
The last one was fun during the summer but cold as heck during the cold days of winter.
This first bmw we had was a convertible and didn’t leak as much air in the winter as this one did. I was heart broken deciding the 340 wasn’t worth the hassle. I did think I could drive my 75 olds 88 convertible because it was hot as heck it had the big 455 but thought I didn’t was to restore it again.

$1500 for an oil change, that is daylight robbery. I guess for the consumer they need to research not just the cost of a car, but maintenance as well.

Yes yes
What about the inconvenience of driving to the dealership?
Jaguars are owned by Tata motors and Indian company infamous for making the cheapest car in the world with a 2 cylinder motorcycle engine that catches on fire
It was disingenuous to show the Lexus RX at the beginning of the video when it isn’t included in the discussion. Poorly played.

It's amazing how many pristine Range Rovers are at the Pick-N-Pull. They get junked because they are too expensive to fix.
Spot on: "A lot of glitz and glamor, but not really a lot of substance" - Beemers, Benzs, Jags, Rovers. If I were gifted any of these vehicles, I would turn around and sell them. Beemers are the worst as you can tell three are in the top 10 - a staggering 30%. 😄

Hi, thanks for reaching out, it’s great to hear from a neighbor. Have a great weekend
Great review! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

A brand new Ford Model A almost a hundred years ago may be more mechanically reliable than most modern cars
Haha true
Not at all. 😂
Most of high end European cars, namely Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar and others are well known for their elegant, stylish looking and expensive. But their low quality and maintenance cost are just ridiculous. Only good for rich businessmen as they give them the ‘status’.

And there it is. Range Rover. Not built to drive in cities. They are heavy cars so it’s rough on the brakes. Brake jobs are about $4k and with this puppy, you need about 2X a year. Sad. Great car but it needs the right driving conditions. Open road and off road. Not city.
I agree, they are probably the nicest riding SUV out there, but many people can’t commit long term to these units
If you are spending new Range Rover money it should be engineered to provide good service whether it's driven in the city the suburbs the country or off-road.
Many other vehicles are capable of doing that at a fraction of the price.

Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, or Honda is the answer. Honda had some trouble a few years ago with the 1.5L turbo. Check Consumer Reports and Car Complaints before you purchase a vehicle.

I have 2016 BMW X1 as a work car 140k going strong no issues 🤷🏻♂️
That’s a great car for a daily

Our '72 XJ 6 was not only one of the most beautiful cars ever made, but it was truly luxurious. The cars today, with 'the leaping cat' are a sad attempt at re living a bygone era. The worst part about the new Lexus and Toyota front end isn't the grille, it's the lip just above it. Totally destroys the rest of the design touches. So unnatural
Are you saying B48 engine is still problematic or just implying BMW does some buybacks that affect return rate?

Just one remark, in Europe we used to say "Coupe" by pronouncing the last letter "e" and putting accent on it, as the word origin is from French language, whereas you are pronouncing it "Coup" without pronouncing the letter "e". Is this pronouncing typical for US?
In the U.S., we do not pronounce the "e".
