I absolutely love Champion Iris. Sure, she’s no Cynthia but I remember rushing up to victory road when bw2 were out and facing her with my Volcarona. I haven’t felt any excitement in a champion battle since fighting her. Truly the best dragon master
Iris is not Cynthia as such but she has in her possession two pseudo-legendaries and an expert sweep (aggron , hydreigon and lapras) just don't forget that iris's Haxorus is much worse than drayde's Haxorus

I remember I was on a trip with my sis and parents in Kuala Lumpur. We stayed in a hotel that had a view straight on the Petronas Tower. I defeated Iris on a night there, which also happened to be Independence Day in Malaysia. It wasn't the first time I was battling her, in fact I spent hours upon hours throughout an entire year trying to defeat her but couldn't, and on that night I finally did it. After the battle, we went to the window and saw the Petronas Towers blaze with fireworks to celebrate Independence Day. For me, those fireworks celebrated my victory. Thank you Malaysia... thank you Iris... thank you Gamefreak... thank you my intrepid team: a Serperior, Scolipede, Magnezone, Swanna, Cofagrigus and Boldore... and thank you Pokemon, for the best generation in the entire franchise, the one closest to my heart...

What I mostly like about Iris is her compassion for Dragons, her personality and determination to obtain her title of a dragon master and as a little girl it affected me a whole lot to see someone who looks like me in a series I love so dearly. In regards to the anime version the same thing holds although her personality is understandably more annoying. However I'm glad that in a few spinoff animations/series especially the Journeys anime they actually made her quite formidable while also keeping to her core personality which I love. Especially in Journeys, she's matured quite a lot but she still the Iris I've known all these years. Despite the backlash and negativity about her being in the Championships regardless of the outcome I'll stand by her through and through.🤗🐉
I love this theme, for me it’s right up there with Cynthia’s. I also loved that they gave Iris her time in Journeys, I am not the biggest fan of the Best Wishes anime but Iris got her time in the spotlight in Journeys and it was amazing!

Love this remix! I fondly remember Iris having taken out all but one of my pokemon, my starter. It was a one-on-one. My Samurott and her Haxorus. My Samurott clutched a crit ice beam, winning me the fight. Oh Unova, you are my favorite region.
This theme closes off the entire journey trough Unova with perfection. The song and the battle itself are focused on the joy of the battle, Ghetsis and Team Plasma have been stopped for good, now Unova is in peace and everyone can just enjoy themselves while battling with no worries whatsoever.

ive always been a big fan of this theme bc it has fun with itself, yet there is still a sense of seriousness to it, it makes it a unique yet great champion theme. you managed to capture the same magic, well done Zame!
While most people were traumatized by Cynthia & her team, that's how I felt about Iris. Yeah she's not the absolute strongest or most intimidating champion in all of Pokemon, but being the only one who gave me a challenge, I have to say she's right up there with Cynthia. And you can fight me on that.
Her Hydreigon was pretty fast for the time, and it has a wide diversity of moves. Her Haxorus has a Sash to tank a hit and Dragon Dance to sweep The rest of her team isn't too much of a problem for me.
My absolute favorite theme in all of pokemon! You did a great job! But something I noticed in 99% of all remixes I've heard so far, people use the same note (here at 1:22) as in the beginning of the "refrain", which I could swear isn't the case in the original melody. English is not my first language, so it's hard to explain. The refrain begins with "Oh woaaaaaah" and when it loops it makes "Oh wuooooooh" it's a deeper note. I think it's interesting that most people don't include this, because for me it was THE thing I wasn't expecting when listening to it for the first time. This isn't a critique though, just something I noticed over the last 9 years.
Back before I had access to UA-cam I used to rematch the Elite Four over and over again just to listen to Iris's theme! Just like I used to rematch the Shadow Triad just to hear the awesome Neo Plasma theme again. Love the Gen 5 music so much
I remember really struggling with Iris as a kid. Black 2 was my first Pokémon game, and she's honestly a tough fight, without Ice or Dragon types, which I didn't have. Much like most new players it feels like, I had my starter (Serperior) at Lv 55 and my next strongest was a Krokorok somewhere in its 30s, so it took a while for me to beat her. I have so much nostalgia for Black/White 2, and holy crap, you just took me back to my 11th birthday 🤣
Remember first time ever I battled her and her Archeops just cleaned me up. Sure, the defeatist ability weakens it but you need to get there first, and it is so fast and also hits like a truck!

I love how you remixed it, yet kept the same emotion the original conveyed. If there ever was a black and white remake, I think they’d go with something extremely similar to yours.
I love Iris so much cuz your battle with her is just pure fun and excitement and her theme fully encapsulates this idea! There’s no deeper meaning to the battle, no world altering stakes. There’s just battling with Pokémon and having a blast doing it, which is what Pokémon was originally about!
i do remember beating the dude first time, and losing againts the lady at the left. In my opinion those are the best challenges, but takes time though.
What a way to end an era of a monumental run of the DS. This track leaves me speechless and staring at the sky in awestruck-ness. I’ll carry this song with me moving forward. @@jakeriese4862 I absolutely adore anime Iris, her backstory is by far the saddest and it only makes her become the Champion far more emotional. As far as I'm aware her backstory is almost the same in the game, just less detailed (As implied by the memories you can get in BW2) To put it short,(anime) Iris left her home in a village to train with Drayden in the city, and she was ostricized for being different. She grew so depressed she quit eating.She eventually travelled on her own to learn how to be a proper dragon master, and became a gym leader and then champion. Champions (besides Cynthia) at the time were all men, and while I love Cynthia, she was a grown woman, so she was more of a figure to look up to. I was delighted to see the champion of the game was a girl my age with a pretty dress, a solar system themed arena, a rainbow road-esque theme, and a team of scary dragons. It felt like she was tailored to my tastes, the fact that she was Iris was a bonus.(Since I knew the game and anime versions weren't the same). I guess as an awkward kid who was picked on for being different,I saw myself in Iris a lot, and seeing her achieve her goals in such a way was such a heartwarming surprise, she became my favorite the moment the music of her battle theme kicked in.

I'd say its ok, not great, but not absolutely terrible. Iris attitude of cockyness was cause she got a 99 win streak in a row, and lost to Drayden with her Excadrill. She also dosent reconignise Excadrills feelings, about being depressed with losing to Haxours. Until Cilan points it out, iris probably acts with Ash the way she does cause it makes her feel superior to him when she belittles him, I suppose its similar to bullying in some respects, even though he got to a few Leagues. Bw is nostalgic to me as I saw a lot of episodes when I was younger, I expected to hate iris more than cilan, but it was the other way round lol. Iris catchphrase is annoying, but after 3 or 4 episodes, like Paul and Trip, I just ignored it. I do think Game iris is nicer though

While most people were traumatized by Cynthia & her team, that's how I felt about Iris. Yeah she's not the absolute strongest or most intimidating champion in all of Pokemon, but being the only one who gave me a challenge, I have to say she's right up there with Cynthia. And you can fight me on that.
Her Hydreigon was pretty fast for the time, and it has a wide diversity of moves.
Her Haxorus has a Sash to tank a hit and Dragon Dance to sweep
The rest of her team isn't too much of a problem for me.
My absolute favorite theme in all of pokemon! You did a great job!
But something I noticed in 99% of all remixes I've heard so far, people use the same note (here at 1:22) as in the beginning of the "refrain", which I could swear isn't the case in the original melody.
English is not my first language, so it's hard to explain. The refrain begins with "Oh woaaaaaah" and when it loops it makes "Oh wuooooooh" it's a deeper note.
I think it's interesting that most people don't include this, because for me it was THE thing I wasn't expecting when listening to it for the first time.
This isn't a critique though, just something I noticed over the last 9 years.
Back before I had access to UA-cam I used to rematch the Elite Four over and over again just to listen to Iris's theme! Just like I used to rematch the Shadow Triad just to hear the awesome Neo Plasma theme again. Love the Gen 5 music so much

I remember really struggling with Iris as a kid. Black 2 was my first Pokémon game, and she's honestly a tough fight, without Ice or Dragon types, which I didn't have. Much like most new players it feels like, I had my starter (Serperior) at Lv 55 and my next strongest was a Krokorok somewhere in its 30s, so it took a while for me to beat her. I have so much nostalgia for Black/White 2, and holy crap, you just took me back to my 11th birthday 🤣
My only ice user was golduck and my dragon was haxorus...
They both died with hydreigon...

@@jakeriese4862 I’ve never seen the anime. In the game, she’s the first young girl who’s a champion. She looks fragile, but she’s strong. I have the same feeling with Kukui, he doesn’t seam serious, bit he’s strong

I love how you remixed it, yet kept the same emotion the original conveyed. If there ever was a black and white remake, I think they’d go with something extremely similar to yours.
I love Iris so much cuz your battle with her is just pure fun and excitement and her theme fully encapsulates this idea! There’s no deeper meaning to the battle, no world altering stakes. There’s just battling with Pokémon and having a blast doing it, which is what Pokémon was originally about!

@@jakeriese4862 I absolutely adore anime Iris, her backstory is by far the saddest and it only makes her become the Champion far more emotional.
As far as I'm aware her backstory is almost the same in the game, just less detailed (As implied by the memories you can get in BW2) To put it short,(anime) Iris left her home in a village to train with Drayden in the city, and she was ostricized for being different. She grew so depressed she quit eating.She eventually travelled on her own to learn how to be a proper dragon master, and became a gym leader and then champion.
Champions (besides Cynthia) at the time were all men, and while I love Cynthia, she was a grown woman, so she was more of a figure to look up to. I was delighted to see the champion of the game was a girl my age with a pretty dress, a solar system themed arena, a rainbow road-esque theme, and a team of scary dragons. It felt like she was tailored to my tastes, the fact that she was Iris was a bonus.(Since I knew the game and anime versions weren't the same). I guess as an awkward kid who was picked on for being different,I saw myself in Iris a lot, and seeing her achieve her goals in such a way was such a heartwarming surprise, she became my favorite the moment the music of her battle theme kicked in.

I'd say its ok, not great, but not absolutely terrible. Iris attitude of cockyness was cause she got a 99 win streak in a row, and lost to Drayden with her Excadrill. She also dosent reconignise Excadrills feelings, about being depressed with losing to Haxours. Until Cilan points it out, iris probably acts with Ash the way she does cause it makes her feel superior to him when she belittles him, I suppose its similar to bullying in some respects, even though he got to a few Leagues. Bw is nostalgic to me as I saw a lot of episodes when I was younger, I expected to hate iris more than cilan, but it was the other way round lol. Iris catchphrase is annoying, but after 3 or 4 episodes, like Paul and Trip, I just ignored it. I do think Game iris is nicer though
I'm amazed by the fact that these amazing music were blasted from a Nintendo 2DS console without any regards for the console itself. Gosh, I really am a sucker for Gen V.
