Well Francis Underwood stole the presidency BUT his whole reason for America works is to gain more prestige and power....because if it worked, his plan, American works, the noise for him to run for the democratic nomination and thus the presidency would have been deafening. He would be unbeatable. So he isn't really doing it for the american people. He is doing it to hold onto power....leave behind a legacy for his name. So it is really about himself.
