I was there last year one morning, early, when no one else was there waiting for light to appear on a morning when rain was forecast. It didn't bother me though because I never get tired of going to the location where you shot this video. I didn't travel to the Smokies this year due to the Coronavirus because my mom is in the nursing home and I have to keep my health up to take things to her.
I’ll be driving down to Florida this January 2021. Looking for place to photograph in the mountains. Tennessee is one of my favorite places to stop and look around.
I agree - I never tire of landscape images with compressed layers, receding into the the distance, that tele lenses can produce - many thanks, really enjoyed the video!
Great video. Really making me miss the mountains. The last part with the bridge reminds of a bridge that is in the Greenbrier part of the park. I explored that area back in February and it was beautiful with the snow and ice back there.
Cool stuff! I recently went out to my local state park with just my camera, 75-300, and tripod. I was really pleased with the shots that I got. This location looks like Alum Cave. I love to ride up to the Smokies for day trips, stopping on the road to get photos along the river. Thanks for sharing!
So beautiful and relaxing, absolute medicine for the soul. Keep up the awesome work, you bring us a piece of happiness in this troubled times, thank you!
Absolutely, every second of it, i love nature but mountains out of all the most. I just got my first camera, a Canon 800D and doing research to start landscaping on entry level...so excited. 😊
That was fun! Glad to hear your take on using telephoto because I have recently rediscovered my tele and have been very happy with results as well as identified frustrations with wide angle that I just couldn't put my finger on why the results were not what I wanted... at times. Nice work!
Really enjoy watching your time lapses. Do you shoot in raw and do editing before converting them to the video sequence? And a vertical panorama... 🤔💡 Beautiful waterfall image you created.
Thank you! Yes I shoot and edit them in raw then I export the video files. Takes forever haha. The vertical pano is a game changer especially for a wide 1x1 kind of aspect ratio
Hey David, this is Jeffrey. Great video! I very much enjoyed the video and thanks for making it. I've ask you by email about the Falls near the location you took this video. Those were great images you took. Did you take any more photos on that side trail that you were hiking along when you videoed walking from the parking area? Keep up the great work!
@@DavidJohnstonPhoto Thanks David, will be interested in your take on the filter for your shots! Btw, Your family expects you back home. Don't disappoint :)
Ever been to Tennessee?!
Yes! This summer we were there. Smokey Mountains are beautiful.
Several times a year, and hope to be there in two weeks! Save some leaves for me.
Coming in November and looking forward to it!

Came a few years, but only for a few beers and to watch the Titans. Need to come back with a camera!

It’s an amazing place!
Great video David! Them layers are just absolutely perfect. The cloud inversion thrown in.... Wow! 🤙🏼
Thanks man!
I love those stacked fog shots. I got some similar back in July at sunrise on Clingman's..I just love that area.
I’ll never get tired of those compositions
Nice. Timelapse was great
Thanks Steve! I've really been enjoying timelapse lately. Takes forever to edit, but always fun seeing the finished product.

So true, Tony! They never get old and they never disappoint... unless I miss the focus lol
Incredible time lapse videos! You always make great videos and thank you for sharing this. Cheers

Right on! Yeah I know the bridge you’re talking about

Thanks dude! Yeah man that’s a great little spot to shoot
@@DavidJohnstonPhoto I got the notification! haha. Anytime man.
Lol I’m glad we could put it to the test
Another great video buddy! Hope your doing well & really like the work..
Thanks so much!
Great tips and video, come on back to the Smokies anytime.
Thanks! I definitely will!
Love the time lapses David, great job brother keep it up.
Thanks Dave!
Thanks for taking us along! Fall is so invigorating. Loved the time lapse and your images man.
Thank you!
does the waterfall under the bridge have a name? looking to head back to the smokies next month and would like to check that out.

Thanks! Love using the tele. Wides aren’t too bad either though hehe
Beatiful images. Keep up the good work!!! Would like to see a video about your process of thought to make vertical and horizontal panoramas.
Not a bad idea! Vertical panos are fun to create those 1x1 types of aspect ratios.
I was considering canceling my plan to hit the Ouachita National Forest this weekend. But, your video inspired me to go ahead and go.
Go! Go! Go!
Timelapse looks amazing.. Btw, what lens (telephoto) do you use in this video?
Thank you! Really focused on timelapse while I was there. I’m testing the new Tamron 70-300. It’s a killer lens! I’ll post a review soon
@@DavidJohnstonPhoto Woow.. can't wait to see this lens compare with Sony 70-200 f4 😁
What specific locations did you go to?

Nope no other falls! Just that one
That night, David slept on the rocks ...lol. Great shots David! What was your filter?
LOL! That’s a Nisi filter I’m trying out
@@DavidJohnstonPhoto Thanks David, will be interested in your take on the filter for your shots! Btw, Your family expects you back home. Don't disappoint :)
For sure. Been getting back home at reasonable times!
Nice video.. 👍
How about image quality tamron 70-300mm compared with sony 70-200 f4?
The quality is about equal. I've actually been using the Tamron more because the quality is good and it's so light!
@@DavidJohnstonPhoto Make sense.. Thank you 🙏
