      Several times a year, and hope to be there in two weeks! Save some leaves for me.

      I was there last year one morning, early, when no one else was there waiting for light to appear on a morning when rain was forecast. It didn't bother me though because I never get tired of going to the location where you shot this video. I didn't travel to the Smokies this year due to the Coronavirus because my mom is in the nursing home and I have to keep my health up to take things to her.

      Came a few years, but only for a few beers and to watch the Titans. Need to come back with a camera!

    I’ll be driving down to Florida this January 2021. Looking for place to photograph in the mountains. Tennessee is one of my favorite places to stop and look around.

    I love those stacked fog shots. I got some similar back in July at sunrise on Clingman's..I just love that area.

      Thanks Steve! I've really been enjoying timelapse lately. Takes forever to edit, but always fun seeing the finished product.

    I agree - I never tire of landscape images with compressed layers, receding into the the distance, that tele lenses can produce - many thanks, really enjoyed the video!

    Great video. Really making me miss the mountains. The last part with the bridge reminds of a bridge that is in the Greenbrier part of the park. I explored that area back in February and it was beautiful with the snow and ice back there.

    Cool stuff! I recently went out to my local state park with just my camera, 75-300, and tripod. I was really pleased with the shots that I got. This location looks like Alum Cave. I love to ride up to the Smokies for day trips, stopping on the road to get photos along the river. Thanks for sharing!

      Absolutely, every second of it, i love nature but mountains out of all the most. I just got my first camera, a Canon 800D and doing research to start landscaping on entry level...so excited. 😊

    That was fun! Glad to hear your take on using telephoto because I have recently rediscovered my tele and have been very happy with results as well as identified frustrations with wide angle that I just couldn't put my finger on why the results were not what I wanted... at times. Nice work!

    Beatiful images. Keep up the good work!!! Would like to see a video about your process of thought to make vertical and horizontal panoramas.

    • @DavidJohnstonPhoto
      @DavidJohnstonPhoto  4 роки тому +1

      Not a bad idea! Vertical panos are fun to create those 1x1 types of aspect ratios.

  • @VintageInsightPhotography
    @VintageInsightPhotography 4 роки тому

    Really enjoy watching your time lapses. Do you shoot in raw and do editing before converting them to the video sequence?
    And a vertical panorama... 🤔💡 Beautiful waterfall image you created.

    • @DavidJohnstonPhoto
      @DavidJohnstonPhoto  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Yes I shoot and edit them in raw then I export the video files. Takes forever haha. The vertical pano is a game changer especially for a wide 1x1 kind of aspect ratio

    Hey David, this is Jeffrey. Great video! I very much enjoyed the video and thanks for making it. I've ask you by email about the Falls near the location you took this video. Those were great images you took. Did you take any more photos on that side trail that you were hiking along when you videoed walking from the parking area? Keep up the great work!

    How about image quality tamron 70-300mm compared with sony 70-200 f4?

    • @DavidJohnstonPhoto
      @DavidJohnstonPhoto  4 роки тому

      The quality is about equal. I've actually been using the Tamron more because the quality is good and it's so light!
