@@DanCorrigan Seriously Dan, thank you so much for saying the tricks outloud that others have landed. You are doing such a great service to us new skaters trying to learn the names of everything!
It would actually help ALOT to stay fit away from Skating, work your cardio and calisthenics and you should be able to go everyday, I’m 26 and I get aches and occasionally back pain but as long as your stretching and moving your body daily you should be able to skate everyday atleast for half an hour minimum. For recovery if your really sore an ice bath is amazing, or just run really cold water on legs and anywhere sore. If you gotta take a day in between than definitely do it but sometimes it is energizing when your feeling sluggish and you push through a session, just two cents keep skating, much love 🙏🏽♥️
@@lorenzoeldude Hydrotherapy on the injured body part has helped me greatly over 35+ years of skating. Use the shower, the bath, or a 5 gallon bucket. go as hot as you can handle (not boiling!) and as cold as you can get it (ice cubes in a bucket works good for ankles) Lightly stretch out the affected area, then: keep lightly stretching for 1 minute in Hot water then 1min Cold, then decrease the time 30secs each, 10secs etc. end on cold. The idea is that the changes in temperature kind of concertina blood back and forth, bringing more white blood cells etc. to the damaged area and speeding up repair. Definitely have some quality protein and good nutrition in general, lay off caffeine, drink plenty of water. Also, alcohol is a muscle relaxant and reduces anxiety/stress/shock so depending on the injury a beer can ease pain and stop you from tensing up/stressing out the affected area. Probably not a great idea for a head injury (beer or hydrotherapy).

Yoo Dan, I had tons of anxiety and fogginess from Lyme's and Candida. Hit up a functional medicine practitioner to get to the root causes! It's life changing and helped me get enough energy and clarity to get back to skating after 17 years..
Also recently got off my ssris, love the feeling of not being emotionally numb all the time, but the anxiety is creeping up on me sometimes. Guess its something you have to deal with.
buy some 5htp power. take you finger and dip it in the power. put under your tounge. do this when feeling off or paniky. works best at night. for mornings get some l-tyrosine. they are both just amino acids. but gentle

Watching Andy skate reminds me of mark Gonzales part in video days. Just flowing having fun and trying tricks you wouldn’t expect and skating stuff different.
If I was messing around like that.. I always ended up getting hurt on the smallest of things. The bigger the object and challenge, never get hurt. Wish I had that control..even though I haven't been on a board in 3yrs in my 22yrs of skating.. just haven't had time or the mind set anymore
Even though 3yrs ago I was getting better at switch and doing smaller stuff on trails and benches but I always skated alone in the last 10yrs by choice. Good luck on your mental health journey! SSRIs can be awful for some folks, and amazing for others (as well as everything in between). "...this is my first day not taking my SSRI..." I'm just a few weeks ahead of you on this journey Dan - and among other things, I've also recently quit nicotine (from vaping, to patches, to nada). If there's anything that I've learned from this that could be beneficial for people to extract wisdom from, is this: Find a fun physically demanding activity that you take pleasure in - Something that you can see yourself effortlessly committing to doing most days. There is a POWERFUL boosting effect imparted to you upon long hours of sustained increased breathing rate and heart rate. I thoroughly believe that riding my bicycle, for me personally, works incredibly well in staving off the shitty feelings that I've been prone to in recent weeks. I highly recommend something on par to this (something like this) to everyone, seriously. One last thing, I suspect that either my consumption of nicotine or SSRIs were partly responsible my recent lack of adventurous/exploration energy that used to come so naturally to me. Take note, if you find yourself in a situation like this, there may be only a few things that need a change in order for life to improve. I believe you know yourself better than anyone else - in ways that noone else could ever know. What others see and think can be important, but it may not be the only source of guiding truth in your life
Note: I lean more towards suspecting my nicotine consumption to be the draining factor in my adventurous/active life energy. This is not the first time that I've quit and then felt compelled to ride BMX again for days at a time
