    Bend over backwards
    Look the other way
    Be there for someone
    Give and take
    Hold someone's hand
    Showing someone's the ropes
    Taking someone under my wing
    To meet halfway, midway, middle
Keep an eye on someone's belongings
Lend a hand, give a hand

Perfect video as always!👌 Using some of the expressions, I announce that my dear English teacher has been always there for me since my father passed away! She kind of held my hand to get stronger afterwards and I could not thank her enough... As days passed, my family met halfway to have a responsibility to keep an eye on each other. :)

Bend over backwards! Wonderful expression! Excellent description for my uncle's behavior when I visited him in Saint-Petersburg. I'd never been there before so he drove me and mum everywhere, cooked pancakes for breakfast, stood in the queque to the museums, let us search the city more and took lots of amazing photos of us! So when my English pen pal arrived, I bent over backwards to organize his journey in Russia as comfortable as I could. I cooked dishes of Russian cuisine, showed interesting places and told gripping stories. It's difficult to be a friend))

would u mind telling me please the difference between (toward/towards, forward/forwards, backward/backwards )?

    • @jimcausey7865
      @jimcausey7865 5 років тому +1

Toward means you are moving in the direction of something. For example, I am heading towards your house. Forward means in front of you. For example, I am moving forward, means I am going in the direction that is in front of me. It can also mean you are proceeding with a plan. We are moving forward with our plan to build a house. Backwards means moving in the direction behind you. I am walking backwards means I am taking steps moving in the direction behind me.

@@w.w7974 I'm sorry. Americans don't understand English 😀 My wife is Brasilian and when she asks me about English I don't always know the answer. I found this explanation in several places. "According to the Chicago Manual of Style, the preferred form in American English istoward without the -s, while the preferred British English form is towards with the -s. This general rule works with other directional words, including forward, backward, upward, and downward, along with afterward."

Could means you have the ability to do something or it is possible something can happen. For example, you could learn to fly a plane if you tried or it could rain today. Should means something is supposed to happen or be done. You should be honest. The train should arrive on time. I should exercise more and I should eat healthier food.

Nothing to do with tge video, but I've got a question and was wondering if someone could help me here :)
While trying to build a proper English sentence I never know when to drop the "to", when to use the -ing form, etc. So what does one say here for example:
1)It helps me get a good job.
2)It helps me to get a good job.
3)It helps me getting a good thing.
Which one is grammatically correct? Which one is the most natural sentence? Are there any other options? And how does it work with other verbs, is "to help" treated differently to other verbs? I'd be glad if someone knew the answer and could take the time to answer,
    Thanks in advance!

They do it under everybody’s nose all the time and nothing happens. 😒 That’s also why I left Brazil. // “I’ll be there for you when the rain starts to pour.” 🎵😁 // When I quit my job in Brazil, me and my ex-boss met halfway about/at (?) the date I was gonna leave.
