You are the artist! If you want collage or no collage or whatever you want on your art is your choice. I understand artistic critique, but i don't understand anyone thinking they know your art better than you. Your work is amazing aaaand it is always uniquely you. ❤ Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for your vote of confidence! There will always be some backseat drivers, but that is the price of audience participation. You are a treasure Carol!
I'm re-watching your videos and falling in love all over again! Your work so inspires me, Fulton. Im so excited to see you approaching 10K subscribers!!! Thank you again for all you've shared. ❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing your process with me. I really appreciate it and you so much You are such an amazing person. So kind and thoughtful . I see what a wonderful person you are so I am honored to watch you. Have a wonderful new year and keep shining ❤
Once I heard someone recommend soaking dirty brayers in Murphy's Oil Soap overnight. I tried it, and it worked. You still have to peel off the paint, but it's much easier, as I remember. I haven't done it for years, so I hope it's the right directions. Thank you for your wonderful work. Your voice and the music is so calming.
Thank you for this laid back, instructive, varied stages of your process in your art. I am newish in this vast world and appreciate your detail . And I like your music. Priceless that I can pause and re-wind. I think a squeaky brayer is a good omen.
I liked your comment about and use of positive shapes. It makes a quite distinctly different print. And of course using disposable stencils means your work will always be fresh. I am sure many will be glad that the fabriano is almost finished. the tension at the reveal was almost unbearable! 😄 glad you like uk somerset paper. I live in bristol just a few miles away. We often have clients in Wells.
More beautiful and inspirational work. Thank you, Fulton. Somewhere on the web I picked up a useful tip for cleaning brayers: soak them for a day or two in liquid laundry detergent. Then you can wipe off the paint and the brayer is like new. I keep a small sealable container half filled with detergent for that purpose. It can be used for long periods and also works for forgotten brushes and other tools. And don't forget that acrylic paint is basically plastic and any waste, liquid or solid, should be treated as toxic waste and not end up in wastewater either.
Really enjoyed this demo. I was working on a similar problem this morning and now have the solution I was looking for. Thank you and keep up the good work.
This is stellar! Love it. What an inspiration! Who is anyone to tell you what to do with your art? I had a thought about a way to possibly save your stencils. You can get clear contact paper very I expensively. If you can coat your stencil paper with the Contact paper and then cut your stencil it might give enough body for reuse. Especially if you coat both sides. By the way- a brilliant solution to the floppy paper syndrome!🤓
Thank you so much,Fulton! I love your work. I find it full of surprises and nuance. I have only just discovered your channel and I am enjoying it so very much. I am especially appreciative of the way you present your work and your methods I like the quiet atmosphere you create, the soft music in the background, and allowing the spaces in between while you do you things off camera. It is very well done. Thank you!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like the slow pace of the videos as I do my best to present the art making process in real time, not sped up and overly edited and difficult to follow. Thanks for watching!
Magnifique! The shapes, colors and textures are wonderful. It's amazing how you are able to give each piece a different look. Thanks again for sharing. 😊
You're a neat person, Fulton. Your videos are simultaneously inspiring and relaxing... really appreciate your approach and willingness to follow your instincts without overthinking. Thank you!
Well, that was fun! Using the positive-shapes stencils gave everything an interesting twist. I have to say I like the prints best that have complexity in the early layers. I admire your color sense, your facility with texture, and your courage in adding another layer, when you might lose everything. And your generosity in letting us all watch it happen!
Wow! I only just found your channel and you've ignored my excitement for my dusty gelli plate. Every print is beautiful. The collage adds a lot...especially to the last print. Thanks so much for sharing your talent. Your style is extraordinary!
I think Akua inks can be used for more open time with very lovely results, working into the layer for markmaking. The first gel work I ever saw was done by someone using very large plates and Akua. I agree that the Speedball is a different thing, as you say. Close to Akua but with a shorter drying time are Golden Open why do allow you to add textural detail. The cleanup is easier than Akua too. I really like your low cost solutions though, with maximum impact That is a neat technique using something beneath the cutout stencil to ease it into place. The way you carry on till you get the result you need is a teaching in itself! Some great results today.
Another great video Fulton, thank you. Im slowly catching up on your past videos, each one is unique and has helpful hints and tips. I love the reveal as you pull the paper, and find myself tilting my head to get a better look as the image appears 😅.....Alioban ❤
My favourite is still #2, even though I was cringing when you going for the silver/pearl layer because I thought it would ruin it! It turned out really nice! I love the blues, turquoise and that Arctic blue, the ‘water’ colours are my favourites. I do also like the mid century vibe of #1 ! I agree with you about the Akua Intaglio inks, they are expensive, I bought 3 Golden Open paints and for the money, they are also not much of an advantage on the Gelli plate.
To make longer lasting overlay stencil as you've used today try using Tyvek. Each layer of acrylic paint makes is a little stronger. I used a Tyvek USPS envelope I got in the mail, lasted several pulls. Love what the teal does in all these prints. Great session!
Hello: I really like your videos. I just wanted to inquire about the Sharpie that you are using. Is it a Sharpie paint pen? If not, and if it is just a Sharpie marker that has “permanent” on it - warning - it is NOT Permanent and will fade.
Hi Elizabeth, I use a regular Sharpie, not a paint pen. I like them both. "permanent" is really relative as you know it rubs off and fades in time. This is not so much a concern for me, as all art is not permanent, just like our lives. All art of value ( including furnishings, fabric, photos, etc.) should be kept away from direct sunlight or UV light, as it hastens the fading process. I hope this allays your fears.
Fulton, please, please, please consider representing yourself with a nice picture of yourself. Your work is so amazing and this cartoon you have here and on your site doesn't look anything like you and doesn't represent your art or personality. I showed your site to a friend and the first thing she said to me was that the fact you don't have a photo of yourself on your site or anywhere else is a red flag. I assured her that you really are a person and that you were the one who I was learning from. I never would have considered that a red flag. But, I just wanted to pass that along. You are in your work and in our hearts. Please consider letting the world see you. I know you are a very private person. I consider it a privilege to watch these videos and learn, and see the magic that is the end result. We all support you here.
Thanks so much for your words of support! However I would like to point out that this comment section is visible to a worldwide audience and I will not tolerate slanderous statements about my credentials or my authenticity by your red flag friend because I use a caricature for my avatar. Millions of people online use avatars, I see nothing wrong with it. My avatar has absolutely no bearing on the consistency and quality of my channel's output. Maybe eventually i will put my photo up, but that is my decision, not anyone else's. There I said it.
Art Whisperer 88 is not a dating site, your ‘friend’ is paranoid! It is not a Facebook page, it is a UA-cam channel, why on earth would the content creator need their personal photos available for your scrutiny!
Have you tried Yupo paper for making stencils? It's basically plastic paper. Not sure if they make it in the large size though. You can get multiple uses out of it. I don't clean it.
Paper is made of absorbent fibers. Letting the paper sit for a while allows the water content of the acrylic soak into the fibers and create good adhesion for a successful transfer. Pulling the paper too soon results in an incomplete transfer, which is a waste of good materials!
Keep shining sharing your light is extraordinary ✨💫❤we need your light

This is a very good series. One and Two are especially satisfying, but they’re all brilliant.
super content.

Excellent demo of how to create complexity with layering, love the mid-century look!

I like the Tyvek too, I always save my USPS envelopes. Never had one tear yet, and I've made some fairly intricate stencils from them.

No, it is very expensive and I prefer acetate if I were to spend some money. My 99cent dividers serve me well for now.

Also, any poor quality silver seems to work brilliantly with a gelli plate.
