In this episode I will walk you through how to use Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) as a technical indicator for Day Trading. I personally use the VWAP in my day trading strategies on a daily basis. The volume weighted average price represents the average price of a stock during the day including the number of shares traded at various prices.
Therefore, VWAP is the average price of the stock including volume. It's the equilibrium point. This is an indicator that was very popular among institutional traders and money managers, but it now being used among retail traders as well.

Great video! I've known about VWAP and average price with volume, but didn't really understand the significance. You really clarified it with an analogy of support and resistance and how the stock interacts with it. Afterwards, I had to go study some charts with VWAP and learn something new. Thanks.

Thanks Ross , after 30 years of trading we know exactly one thing, all indicators lagging you can anticipate and put more details with tick time fame you can tune according your volatility combined w your sma, vwap, macd etc, I am using , but Ross we can't predict the sentiments. Ross uses the default VWAP settings and hasn't made any adjustments

I'm just getting started with paper trading. Today I was following a stock that stayed well above VWAP for the entire day until about 3pm, when it dropped about 30%. At first I thought there was no way to foresee this, but I'm thinking that the fact that it was above the VWAP was a signal that it was something that could happen at any time. That was just one 2 minute candlestick, and it still stayed above VWAP, but wow. Kind of scary. Glad I don't but my whole investment into each trade, even though they are only paper trades right now. What a lesson.
VWAP fade and breakout is usually short and the breakout will usually reversal immediately but if done correctly one can exploit this in a short burst.

Hello, does the vwap serve as an entry point once the price bounces off the vwap?
Great video! I have learnt so much watching your videos. What is an ideal length for the VWAP on intraday trading? Will VWAP length of 14 which is the default be okay or can I adjust it to 9 or 20 in line with the EMA?
Ts, Ross uses the standard setting, but you're welcome to adjust it based on your own needs.

Hi Ross love your teaching approach I do have a question regarding the macd... Using this as a confirmation of a buy signal when ever I look at my charts the 1 min chart will show a crossover but signal yet the 5min chart is showing a sell signal or decline. The buy spread is always higher so to prematurely but on the macd 1 min it could bounce so should I use the 5min chart to buy factoring the spread hope this makes sense

Great video. Curious to know....what if volume is low ....say 100k.and someone sells 20k shares....wouldn't my vwap signal throw me a curve ball as that one trader just impacted the price?
That would affect VWAP, this is also why Ross likes to focus on stocks with more volume!

Thanks for the idea to trade one share at a time. It has taken the anxiety out of it. I can be very comfortable with the risk of onIy one share. I tried paper trading but don't really care for it l, it's to limited. I like one share cash and look for 10 cents profit on it. Ive been trading about a month now the last week I do one share, i'm about 50% win rate on 1share, I lost on nearly every trade before, when I get to 60% I will start to increase share size. Thank you for teaching what u know.

Unless active trader pro has some shortcut keys I'm not familiar with, I find the trading window too clunky and slow for fast execution. It's find for trend trading, but not good for day trading (in my opinion).

I use it on 1min and 5min, but any intraday time frame will work
I read the VWAP info, it said it’s “a way” of intradaying. What is of that way?
Could you explain why looking at VWAP over a number of days may not be of great value for technical analysis purposes?
That depends on what strategy you're trading, Ross is a momentum trader so his time frame is much shorter so it doesn't make as much sense to pay attention to a multi-day vwap.
Good explanation, but how do you use it to know whether to buy or sell if in one day in your example it faded then broke through then faded again?

@Youarturo you should be able to use it on any charting platform that offers it. Though the results may be different due to the time frame differences in other markets.

What do you mean "different results due to different timeframes" ??? a 1h TF is a 1h TF in New York or Hong Kong if it shows the same Asset/Ticker; local time yes its different, but the Data Feed must be the same. Correct ?
My main "concern" is that Nasdaq and NYSE are centralized markets, so they have a tight control over Volume traded. In the Forex Market you han a desentralized Market, so Volume is shown thru your Broker, based on the Broker´s trading volume. And as VWAP needs Volume to determine its levels, I was wondering if Forex could has some wrong readings. Love to hear your comments on my thinking, please tel me where I´m wrong ... Have not got Vwap on cTrader charts, Is the Weighted Moving Average the same? i set it for 14 on a 5 mins looks good.
Trev, interesting, the weighted moving average may act similar.
Im using Trading view for all my indicators. So all good. Did find and good. LAst 2 days made 3% on my cap. I used the QQE with a supertrend on a 15 min. OMG 20 trades won 16. lost 4....Indicators can help

Tib, the standard vwap settings at 2 standard deviations that is what Ross uses.
