Navarro copied John? What are you smoking? The reason Dave didn't fit the band is because his style clashed with the rest of the band members: he brought a more metallic sound, and didn't have Frusciante's funk. But the only "copying" he did was to play the guitar parts on the songs that John wrote, as John did on the songs that Hillel wrote.
Gabe Gill OHM is fantastic. I don't know that their styles clash as much as their personalities do. Navarro is a pretty arrogant bitch but his playing is pretty on-point. AK is pretty arrogant too so I don't think that helped with the RHCP+Navarro dynamic.
Dave didn't fit the band because he was a dysfunctional heroin addict. AK was too, but he was more functional or perhaps just irreplaceable. Navarro mentions this in several interviews and says that it was never a creative clash which drove him away
After all without Hillel, John wouldn't have got into the Chili's as sad as it is. It sucks that he never got to feel the dizzying heights and energy that the band have experienced in the last few decades. Rest in Peace Hillel Slovak

@everlyredhot c'mon dude! I love Frusciante too! I've listened to Chili Peppers since i was born... and i'm 22 years old! This is my favorite band and I know very well their work! But i really think that John "gave" to Chili Peppers nobody but Josh! He's incredible like a guitarrist and a compositor, he is a multiinstrumentalist. I think that Red Hot are "playing" with new sounds and new ways to compose their songs, and this we can hear the result: I'M WITH YOU! Frusciante knows that he has did.
@everlyredhot I don't like this album too much either, but I do really like Josh. He's definitely not as good as John, but he's the next best for sure. I have a feeling there'll be alot more of him in the next album, I'm looking forward to it

I also feel that the peppers need John. Of course this current guy can play great, I mean no disrespect to him. I felt the same way with Dave Navarro, they both just came and mimicked John F. If I was lucky enough to be asked to play with the Peppers, I would say "Hey, I'm doing my own thing, if you don't like it, get John back." I wouldn't just copy John F and expect to be taken seriously. Only my opinion
