- This is a great budget tablet for digital drawing. It's not a significant upgrade from iPad 6 so it's not worth the upgrade.

Hey, I sent Procreate a message asking about layers and ram. I told them that this iPad was showing more layers compared to the iPad Air 3, as you have shown us in this video. They told me that if that was the case, it’s a bug and would be fixed in the next update. This is a little saddening to hear, and thought you would like to know the update.
@@SheenaBrown444 That's great. If it's software related, it can be fixed.
Teoh Yi Chie I think you face problem in you tube during forward the video or problems
I had a 10th gen iPad ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
I don’t mind the tapping noise I enjoy it 😂

Yes i kinda like it

Great tablet. For those who regret or have doubts of taking it instead of an air or pro model, I can tell you it's best for what it offers for this price. Yes, it hasn't superlaminated screen, A300X processor and... 100 gb of RAM, highest refresh rate, 4 speakers, etc. but I did extraordinary drawings on it. It offers the same things as a pro tablet, with some minor (I can say) limitations. The drawing process is very smooth, yet the display has a gap and sounds a little loud when drawing on it, but I didn't noticed very much. Yes, the paralax effect... not a really big deal. The screen hasn't as big brightness as a pro but I don't use it outside and inside seems to be superbright. Sometimes the ocuments are saved a little slow, the number of layers are little, but I managed drawings with only one layer - and remember, when drawing on real paper nobody has more than one layer. Also the sound of the speakers is very deep, though it comes from only two. For me, at this moment this is amost PRO. But don't forget to take the 128 gb one. The system and some apps are quickly exceeding 10 gb.
Thank you Teoh Yi Chie for your review and your art, it helped me a lot.
Giorgian Gingut does it matter if I don’t buy the 128 gb because the 32 is cheaper and i wouldn’t use it for really anything else than drawing
@@bobk7773 Yes, you're right, It's so... ok 32 gb. If you use only procreate and other 2-3 apps would be far enough. For exemple I installed a lot of apps and made a lot of drawings and photos and I still have 110 gb free. It would take me years to fill it. With the difference you can buy an apple pencil for example. It's a false panic created for no reason.
Now, I would buy the 32 gb storage Ipad, for drawing, googling and reading books it's perfect.
Hey! What about layers on Procreate and the gap between the actual screen - Pencil?
I’m thinking getting that one with the pencil.
This review is very good because you actually point out the cons of a matte screen protector while the other UA-camrs just say "It is very good and... " just because they are sponsored.
I’m getting the iPad 7 on black Friday! I'm really excited to make digital art!!
(Update: I got thebipad, and then I cracked or the next day... now I got to save up for months before I can draw on it again, big RIP)
me too!
I’m on mine now got it today
@@xopureiron9690 was it in special?
I got it on amazon they were doing a really good deal I just need to get the pencil now
@@xopureiron9690 tomorrow I am getting my ipad from target!
Just a thumbs up for the time stamps alone! Thank you for valuing our time! :D Keep up the good videos, I'm currently thinking about replacing a large Win 10 Wacom laptop 2-in-1 with a digitizer/stylus enabled tablet and Apple is of course in the running.
I bought my iPad 7 (128 gb) recently and I'm loving it. For now I use it to draw but in the future I will use it for college. Your videos helped me to decide which one to get. Thank you, I made the right decision :)
When you actually enjoy the tapping noise the pen does ✌😂
I really love the way you explain things that are actually interesting for artists. Great review!
My main drawing tablet is a Wacom Cintiq 12. I've been drawing with a gap between the frame and the screen for over 4 years so the gap on a regular iPad should not be a big problem for artists who are used to older wacom products. I have to admit the gap has never been a problem. I don't know if they have changed that on newer models.
I'm looking for an alternative for when I'm away from my desktop. A pro would be the best option to get more layers... but I'm currently trying to save some money for a new camera as well...
I love this old school front "frame" (I'm not sure if it's also called frame in English 🤣)... It gives me a safer sense of stability in my hand. I don't like to accidentally touch the screen.
10.2 inch is the minimum I can go because I like to keep the zoom out to get a better view of my whole composition when working with concept art. But a 128G is a must have because I run out of space so quickly and I like to keep my quick sketches in hand for further references... I get easily annoyed by my 32g phone constant warning of low storage space. LOL xD
Wow I bought iPad 6th generation about a month ago and was wondering what iPad 7 will be like and your review came 🤩 thank you for the amazing video (as always)…
Ipad 7 got a dramatic upgrade bigger screen and keyboard support.
Thinking about buying a device for my niece to continue with growing as an artist. Your videos really helped me with making a decision, very informative and detailed perspective.
This really helped me make my decision on what iPad to buy! Thanks! Also, I am okay with the sound the pencil makes when tapping on the screen. I actually find it quite relaxing.
I'm planning to buy one this week. My first Apple device...excited 😄
Thank you for this in-depth review. Really informative. Thank you for sharing!
thank you so much for your reviews of this ipad and the ipad air 3, it helps me a lot in my choices! have a good day!
Teoh , I just got a small iPad tablet . Thanks for this, I’m still learning on it, no not for art, as I’m a traditional watercolor artist. As always thanks for all you do. Your friend in Tallahassee , Florida
Try Procreate if you haven't
Thank you for this video! Exactly what I was looking for.
Great video, it's good that you always review these products from an artist's perspective.
Hilarious that I commented on the 6th gen IPad video saying I didn't regret buying it, only for me to trade it in at Best Buy for this new base iPad. It pretty much feels the same, except with slightly larger screen and slightly better RAM, which allows for more layers in ProCreate.
This review sets the standard for gadget reviews. Also was just the thing I needed to decide on buying one. Thank you.
Thanks for the review as always, Teoh!
Welcome :-)
Thank you very much for your time and effort putting up this video. As a complete stranger to the Apple universe, but wanting to buy my daughter an iPad for artistic purposes, this has helped me a lot.
Love how soothing your voice is!!!
Thank you for this review - I just went out and bought this iPad and Apple Pencil based upon your recommendation and this video!
Which pencil did you buy for it? I’m confused on which one I’m supposed to buy for the iPad 7
Aidyn Shinn gen 1
I have never used an apple product untill now i just bought the iPad gen 7 because I cannot afford the pro or the others .. I'm having a great interest in making digital art a hobby of mine and your video helped me on making up my mind thank you very much 😊
I wanted to spam your comments again just to let you know that your review had really helped me out! Even after putting a glass screen protector on this bad boi, the Ipad 7 is still really fun and efficient to draw with (I've been using Clip Studio since that's what I use on computer). I saw what you meant about the parallax effect if you go to look at the screen from an angle (paraphrasing), but overall this thing has not been disappointing me! Thank you again for the really in-depth review!
Do you think not having a matte screen protector + the gap between the pencil and the strokes would affect the quality of your drawing?
Thanks a lot for your review! Watching it on this iPad right now, and I just ordered an apple pencil, can’t wait!! 🤩
Amazing review, tyvm I know what to buy now.
Excellent review. 👍😀 Very helpful. Thanks Teoh.
i'm getting this badboy really soon! thank you for this!
I’m hopefully getting it for my bday which is in December lol😂
@@mimibee409 haha mine is too.
thanks forr your video now i'm sure that i want this ipad !
(btw the way you coloured this drawing hit my ocd very hard lol)
Thank you, you have helped a lot Teoh. I appreciate your detailed reviews.
Thank you so much for this review! I am upgrading from a Wacom Intuos pen and touch and wanted a good budget Screen Display drawing tablet. I was recommended Ipad as opposed to cintiq and was sold on the idea after playing around on a 1st gen ipad pro. My main concern with this fella was the possibility of parallax, but judging from your video it does not look like it is too much of an issue at all! Thank you again!
thank you for the video, you answered all my questions.
Great video. Just the information I needed.
Sketching outdoors with the iPad's glossy screen would be a good test of a James Gurney-style diffuser shade setup.
That's too many things to bring out. I'll just sit in the shade.
Thank you so much for this video! Esp the number of layers for A4, which is a number shockingly hard to find anywhere for some reason.
You just drew Karen
Whats wrong with that HUH?
Imma speak to the manager if you dont tell me and then imma take the kids
Karen DO NOT TAKE MY KIDS ! THEY ARE LISTENING TO KIDZ BOP

i just looooove the tapping noise lol!
Thank you for the good review Teoh
Thank you so much for this review!!!! And showing the layer count!!! 😃
very informative!! helps me bought my first ipad for digital drawing!
Thank you I’m planning on getting my firs t iPad for artwork and this is what I needed to know thanks!!
Great review. I ordered an ipad 7 128gb this week (haven't got it yet), but was also considering the Air, wondering if the extra processing power and better display would be worth it. Thanks to reviews like this, for my use, I think the 7 will be fine, as I am new to digital art (but not art on paper), and it's my first iPad ever. Now it looks like I need to buy the apple pencil and possibly a matte screen protector.
I actually doubt if it makes a big difference in things like screen when you're planning on putting a screen protector on anyway because screen protectors never destroy the accuracy so I think the 128 gb has more value than an air, especially because they both have 3 gb of ram
To color fill the glasses frame in red even though there's a gap, drag the red to the frames and do not lift the apple pencil, then slide the pencil left or right to adjust fill sensitivity :). Very useful. :)
Thanks for the tip
Since this new iPad was announced I've been just waiting for your review to take all my doubts about this new device! Thank you, I will be buying this, also, can we export the procreate files into photoshop extension? Cheers!
You can export to Photoshop. No problem.
Woooow those sketches 😮😮😮😮❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great review... thank you!
I feel like this is perfect for me I don’t really want “realistic texture” and stuff like that I like drawing fun styles like cartoons and stuff like that
Same over here
Amia Heath same
You actually can get more Texture with a matte screenprotector uwu
Me too!
His art is unique I love it
I like how you explained the ipen, l don’t do ANY art. Am looking for pen use for education to use on my iPad 7. I want to use it for my 5 year old daughter. Thank again for the video. Thumbs up to you sir.
This is very useful dude! Thanks
The adapter lightning (female to male) is included in the box, something people rarely know.
I will be getting this and i can't wait to draw!
*why does the one in the thumbnail exactly looks like no neck ed from 90 days fiance? lol*
Omg 😂
Maybe you should express yourself more respectful
It does! I watch that show with my mom all the time XD
thank you for this great review!!!! did you encounter any problems on the ipad's performance while drawing for a long time or drawing with many layers??? i want to buy this ipad but im worried about lags and if it can handle tasks like drawing and photo editing :(((
Would this be a good ipad for a beginner? I would like to start drawing digitally and I don't really know what tablet should I get
It's good
Hi Teoh, my cruel doubt: iPad 7 gen with 128 Gb, lower screen or iPad Air 3 64 Gb, upper screen, could you help me? Thanks from Brazil.
Brilliant! Thank you.
U are an awesome drawer ‼🙋♂️ keep it up ..thanks.
Hey this is awesome man!!
It is so satisfying 🙂✨
Hi there! I really like your videos! Ipad 6 vs 7 vs air 3 for drawing.. Which one would you prefer? Thanks dude
i love mine i got extremely lucky they had a new reduced price smart keyboard for ipad pro 10.5 original: 150 and i got it for $50 and then i put an $11 glass cover and a backcover its big but not too big i can carry it to class type notes and do so much more then what i ever could before this is honestly a no brainer the smart keyboard makes a difference.
That's a good price
I want this so much.I am trying to get one!!.
thanks for your sharing!
Great review as usual. IMO, apple pencil tilt sucks. It's too abrupt and you have to push hard to get results. Surprisingly the best tilt comes from Microsoft pen. Very fluid and easy to tilt without much effort.
I feel like a gig of ram in iOS is a big deal being that iOS runs really good on what are considered low ram devices.
Hi Teoh Yi Chie, wonderful video... I'm a bit confused as to which one I should go for either iPad Air 3 or the iPad 2019? I want to get into digital art and I already do sketches on paper. I am just focusing on the gap between the screen and the apple pencil in iPad 2019, will this affect drawing accuracy or should I just go with iPad Air 3 which solves this particular issue?
Nice review, I recently upgraded to the ipad 7 from an ipad 4(early 2021) so far I'm liking it I mostly use my ipad for watching video's in bed but want to try doing some art with it, not sure how well that will go with a cheap ebay pen but the apple pencil is still kinda pricey even a used V1 us $80-$120 the V2 is closer to $200 used.
Love your reviews. For some reason I find them calming! Can you please share whether you think the Ipad 7 is the best note taking tablet in it's price range (i.e., not the Samsung Tab S6 or the Ipad Pro)?
It's very good for note taking. I don't think you will be disappointed
I LOVE MY IPAD 7!!! (Comic book Artist)
You can't tell here but does this tablet have palm rejection? He isn't resting his hand on the tablet so I assume it doesn't?
@@shescleverless well if it does you can get a drawing glove but if your cheap then we'll you can always get a glove and cut it
Ive been thinking of getting this for what you do as well. Is it a good investment? I have a stylus and tablet but i would really like to draw on the screen and have a portable option.

Bezels are a feature on drawing tablets
Hi! LOVE THIS VIDEO! I've just got an Ipad 7 and I'm looking forward to start drawing and painting digital art, but I'm a bit confused and I don't know which pen is better for this ipad if I'm planning on using procreate and actually want to do paintings with textures and more depth, similar to acrylic paintings... so if you could help me, because I see that your paintigs are more like cartoonish like, maybe I'm wrong...HELP ME PLEASE
hi great review .. would you know if bamboo fineline 3 works with this devise?
thank you for this! what do you think about the new version of it? hope to see a comparison video in the future! ✨ anyway, I love your work, it is so inspiring 💖
It’s the same tablet just with more powerful chip. I may review it if I can find an affordable secondhand unit
The drawings were so fucking good!
good creator right here
you draw very nicely.. i wish I still have those kind of touch. the last time I draw was like 20 years ago. haha
I still use my Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 and works just fine with Sketchbook Pro, plus I don't have to charge my pen to use it...
Hi, great video, thank you. Which matte screen protector (or covering) did you show in use here? Is it easily removed and reapplied in case you want to look at the image without it either during creation or afterward?
SuperShieldz matte screen protector. It’s easy to remove but you can’t put it back on again
I am going to buy it!! :)
I think I might buy it the next year wish me luck 😬
This would probably only be worthwhile for digital artist on a budget since it has a bigger screen than the ipad 6. But its more expensive than the ipad 6 so i dunno :S
I just bought this ipad 7, and am going to try procreate for the first time! What generation of apple pencil does it work with? Thanks!
1st gen
i am gettimg this todaaaay
I’m getting this for my dad because he likes to draw and stuff
I just got mine. Tks for pointing out the video time lapse. This is my first ipad. I’ve been using wacom or a stylus on another type of tablet for years. It finally gave in. Since I am familiar with some features- similiar to my phone , this was a natural next step. The ipad pro was so tempting and that pencil .. oh man it had the pencil feel but I decided on 7 with extra storage because I would have to prove my use of it first.
Me too, I just ordered the 128 gb 7 this week, I didn't even want to shell out for the Air or Pro until I know what all the fuss is about with digital artmaking (and if I'll stick with it). If I end up using it a lot, I won't feel bad upgrading in a couple years since the 7 was much more affordable. But the Pro looks sweeet!
Can you use procreate on the iPad 7 ?
Hello! Love this video! Thank you so much!
Would you recommend getting the iPad 6th gen 128gb or iPad 7th gen 32gb (let's say they're both the same price, second hand)? Am looking to get into drawing so I'm just starting out! :)
Hope to hear from you soon!
Maybe the 7th gen. The larger display is more comfortable to work with
Does the Apple Pencil have palm rejection with the iPad 7 gen
Yes
Was actually contemplating whether to buy this or s6 tab lite, what do you think will be good for me if I use them in making webtoons?
The iPad will have smoother performance. Consider Samsung Tab S7 FE too.
I just love the way you draw
Thanks :-)
I want a series that’s short with that art ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
im hoping to get this ipad for my birthday this sunday. I really want to get it for drawing
I'm planning to buy this as an entry level tablet for my 10 year old daughter who is beginning to draw, is it still a good buy or should I buy the 8 gen or a newer one instead. I hope you see my comment!!! Thanks a bunch!
Thank youu
How does this 7th gen iPad's performance differ to the 9th gen iPad? I am an art student on a very tight budget and can only afford the 64GB 9th gen iPad, though i doubt 64GB would suffice my needs in a long run. Although at the same price, I could pick up a secondhand 7th gen iPad with 128GB of storage. I was wondering whether if there's a significant difference in performance between the two of the devices that would make me consider getting the 9th gen iPad despite having fewer storage?
I’m getting the iPad and pen very soon I’m excited to do art through ibis paint x and more apps
Thank you, your video is definitely useful!
May I ask which gen of apple pencil that support on iPad 7th?
